Myself and my three dogs just moved to Hartford from St Paul, MN. Within days of moving, I started looking for a vet. I spent a day driving around the area vet clinics, asking my questions, and getting a vibe from the staff. Avondale was very sweet with my shy dog that I brought along and answered all my questions. What inspired me to write this review though was what happened a couple weeks later. Another of my dogs got sick. She was pooping blood and vomiting, frequently. Dr. Groos took great care of her during our visit, as did the tech Courtney and receptionist Sarah. They all ran the tests and got answers as quickly as possible. It ended up being pretty serious, but I was adamant on taking her home with me as I thought a hospital stay would just add to an already stressful situation for her. Dr. Groos called later in the evening and again the next morning to check on her. Amazing service!!!

My dog had a medical emergency over the weekend. Unfortunately our local vet is closed over the weekend and we were at a loss on how to help him. I remember driving past Avondales clinic a while back and saw a sign stating that they were open 7 days a week. I promptly called them and they were able to take my dog in that day (this was on a Sunday). While there we found out that our dog needed emergency surgery which they were fully prepared to do within an hour after checking him. The service was AMAZING! It put my mind at ease that their staff was speedy and effective with diagnosing and helping my dog. I highly recommend this clinic. It was a wonderful experience

Had a $5000 stem cell treatment for my dog with a neurological disorder based on their recommendation. Come to find out stem cells are nowhere near ready for medical use. According to Stanford university we are 15-20 years away from seeing any benefits and proper procedures for stem cells. These people at Avondale care nothing about animals all they care about is money. They never even followed up after the procedure and when I tried to call to speak to them they would not even return phone calls.

Had an amazing experience. Brought my dog in who had been hit by a car and missing for 4days and Also had a dislocated elbow. The staff was amazingly nice and you could tell they really cared. I got to see xrays and got to say good bye to my baby after anesthesia set in to put her elbow back in. Doctor Woodruff was very reassuring she would be okay. And they were affordable Im definitely making them my regular veterinary office.

Has cared for my animals for 15 years but feel like every time I am there they are trying to charge more and more for more and more they used to have free services if you were a regular but they dont care like they used too sometimes I wonder if all the surgery and tests were needed or just me paying for experiments
