I had used Cats Preferred years ago once for both boarding and for check-ups. They were fine, although I found the vet to be a little bit cold towards me, but I thought she truly cared for the cat. I moved out away a few years ago and found a vet closer, who charged less, and just seemed to take more time and made me feel welcome when I brought the cat in. My new vet doesnt do boarding, she is just a country vet. Yesterday, I called Cats Preferred and inquired about boarding this Friday. Cats Preferred told me they had openings, and scheduled me. They said all I needed was to have my current vet fax in the records showing his vaccines were all up-to-date, which they did. Then today, the receptionist from Cats Preferred called me and left me a very rigid sounding voice mail that the vet had reviewed it, and that even though he had all of vaccines in the last year, that I would have to bring the cat in ahead of time for a full examination "because we havent seen him in such a long time." I called back and explained that I get him yearly check-ups, that I am swamped before I leave town, and asked if I could just have her look at him when I bring him in (like every other boarding place does). She said no, that it would have to be done ahead of time and Id have to pay for it. This really ticked me off because I made plans, had my current vet send over the papers, did everything they asked, and then they basically left me in the lurch. When I asked if they didnt trust the other vet, instead of directly answering the question, she said in a snotty voice "We have to check the cat because we have to take responsibility for the cat." I wont ever back. If they messed up and forgot to tell me, they should have just said "When you bring the cat in well look at it, but if there is anything wrong we cant care for it." Instead, after telling me that all I needed to do was have my vet send over the vaccinations, they changed their mind and then expected me to take time off from work to bring the cat in on their hours when I am about to leave on a trip. The cat is healthy as was verified by the other vet, it is ridiculous and seems to be an attempt to just raise revenue. Again, had they told me ahead of time, fine, but they really left me in the lurch. Personally, I will never trust these people again. They look at things through their eyes, not their customers.

We have 5 cats, varying ages and dispositions. Four of them are strays/ferals that showed up on our deck, and eventually, and with help, we were able to get them inside. During this process, the vets and technicians who work at Cats Preferred were extremely helpful and accommodating, and there were willing to let us bring them in as soon as we got them into the house, to be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, thoroughly checked out, so we safely introduce the new cat to the rest of our cats. They have been our vets for nearly 10 years. They are all wonderful with our cats. If I had questions about any one of the cats, they always got back to us immediately, on more than one occasion, situations seemed alarming, one was the day before Thanksgiving and they got us in right away, treated the cat, and gave us information in case things got worse, (fortunately they didnt), and followed up the day after Thanksgiving to make sure the situation was improving. All 5 of our cats are perfect angels when they are there, which is amazing to me considering the yelling and screaming that happens in the car. The cats can sense these are great people who care about them and make them better. Our cats are happy, well as happy as cats can be, and healthy, in great part due to the wonderful people at Cats Preferred. I would not hesitate to recommend them to everyone. We have been to several different vets over the past 20 years, and I have never felt as comfortable with a group treating our cats ever! The are kind, compassionate, caring, and they know what they are doing. They are terrific!

Fabulous place. Go there. Neow. They totally "get it" about cats! Finally, a place focused only on cats (and their people). Really, cats are a specialty in veterinary medicine, because they are so unique. At first, I thought I was in someones private office since I was so early and maybe they were having me wait there until an exam room was available, because it was fully carpeted and had two really comfortable chairs; I was looking around for the family pictures, until it slowly dawned on me that this WAS an exam room! It had all the right stuff, and what I had thought was the desk WAS the exam table. Well, obviously, both my cat and I were so comfortable there, that we both relaxed in the un-"clinincal" setting! All staff were extremely kind, compassionate, and professional, and I had every confidence that, even out of my sight, my cat would be handled gently and with understanding. I gladly drive 40 minutes (double with traffic) for my cats to have this kind of care, which all cats deserve. Cats Preferred is Pre-Purred by all of us!

We have been bringing our cats to Cats Preferred for about ten years. We also have a dog, but we really like having a veterinary clinic exclusive to cats--no dogs causing the cats additional stress for their visits. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and, most importantly, their knowledge of cats is superior. We currently have three cats and all three have had their regular exams and surgeries (neutering and dental) done at Cats Preferred for their entire lives (they range in age from 8 to 10). All their veterinary services have been performed with care, expertise and excellent results, and at what we thought were very fair rates. They also go beyond the call of duty--one of our cats gets sick traveling in the car and inevitably messes up his carrier and himself every time. They gently clean everything up. And, the cats like the staff so much--theyre so kind and gentle with them. Our highest praise to Cats Preferred!

I really love Cats Preferred. I have a cat that was traumatized in his earlier life and he does NOT like to be handled, even by me. The vets at Cats Preferred sedate him for exams. Its the ONLY way to go for him and doesnt cost that much extra. They use some sort of gas in a box and it doesnt take very long at all for him to recover from it. Without sedation they would not be able to do...anything! That way the only stress is actually getting him there (which is tricky, but doable). I have gone to Cats Preferred since about 2009 and wouldnt bring my kitty anywhere else. I have seen most of the vets there and dont even have a particular favorite as they are all wonderful. They have weekend and evening hours and always seem to be able to fit me in when we need to be seen. I would recommend them to anyone, but particularly to those with "special needs" cats who need a bit of extra consideration.
