I was taking my dog to New Brighton hospital for Demodectic mange. I had already been there a few times for vaccinations and then for trying to figure out what was wrong with his skin. Everytime I was there it seemed like we always had to wait wait wait and wait. On this occasion The Doctor was running in and out of the room (about 7 times) because he was helping another animal next door. So I dont think he was 100% focused on his patients. It seems like we were waiting around alot. He prescribed the wrong dosage of Ivermectin to my dog and he became blind and very lethargic. He didnt know what was happening, the scariest thing ever ! His eyes were pitch black. I called them and had an emergency visit and the doctor said all that we can do is keep him overnight. Nothing they could do pretty much.. So instead I rushed him to U of M and they put him on fluids and ran tests and the Doctor there thought he might not make it. After a couple of days he could see shadows and eventually regained all vision. I never ever went back to New Brighton hospital, again and all the Doc said was " oh I put the decimal in the wrong spot ," He prescribed an amount 10 times more than the amount it was supposed to be. If he was more focused on what he was doing instead of running around like a mad man it wouldnt have happened. Instead of pumping my dog full of nasty meds I had him treated at Como park animal hospital for shampoos and it worked. A Horrible horrible experience.

I realize there are always situations in which unfortunate things happen to our loving pets at the clinics we take them to. There isnt once place that that hasnt happened to. Im not standing up for one or the other, its just an unfortunate fact. I have been to multiple vets for my cat over the years and I only wish I had found Dr. Hedges sooner. I even had been to the U of M and they never found out what was wrong with my cat(s) at the time. That aside... my elderly cat, now 19, is in her last days and Dr. Hedges has been wonderful to her. I do beg to differ with those who have said he isnt caring - he IS. He cares very deeply for them. I give Dr. Hedges a full 5 stars and do with with the understanding that unfortunate things always happen and each time we take our loving pets to a vet, we take the risk just like we do with our own human physicians & hospitals. As long as were human, we will deal with infallible professionals, no matter how caring they are. So, Dr. Hedges, you deserve a 5 star rating! You always give your best.

My dogs love visiting, weather its a medical visit or grooming they are happy to be there. The atmosphere is truely friendly, warm & down to earth. The staff & docs truely care about my pets, from litters of pups to the my adult animals, even after pups go to new owners they still consult me on issues new owners may be having & know how important those issues are to future litters. The amount of experience & wisdom available here is abundunt & if they do not know they will find out. Time of day or night does not matter if you are having an emergency they are available & will do what it takes to ease my pets. We even adopted a kitten, after sitting in the office for 2 weekend nights for an emergency with one of my girls. No BS frills & glitter with these guys & TONS of wisdom & experience! *Pricing is super fair*

Dr Hedges and Dr Nelson have taken great care of my cats over the past 12 years and I would recommend this vet clinic to *anyone* with a pet. I took my cat to the UofM Small Animal Hospital a few months ago, and the facility was huge, beautiful and well stocked with equipment and so forth, but it cost me 3 times as much for the same care as I would have gotten at Brighton Vet. Dr Nelson has kept me informed by lengthy and detailed phone messages of the progress, treatment and tests for my cats chronic condition. I will continue to go to Brighton Vet for as long as I own pets. Others have said, "no frills," etc in their reviews - the office is relatively small, but they get their jobs done, and it saves me money as well as getting TOP CARE for my pet.

my two accident prone dogs have been going here for years. Both Dr. Hedges and Dr. Howes have always given them the best attention and care, appointment or not. Their hours are wonderful too, since I dont have to take off work to get my dogs in. I dont have a great comparison for their prices compared to other twin cities vets, though Ive always felt they are reasonable and as affordable as vet visits for animals can be.

We recently had to go to another boarder for a weekend away, and were reminded why we love Brighton Veterinary Hospital so much! We really feel like our dogs are much better taken care of there than other places weve gone, and their prices are great! Theyre where we go for everything, including training with Chuck (whos phenomenal).

Really difficult to set up a consultation for our cat. Although they have good hours, they only have very limited hours that we can meet with someone for a consultation for our diabetic cat. They strongly stressed the importance of getting in ASAP, but then only offer 1 or 2 days, with very limited hours that we can actually come in.

I have been going to see Dr Hedges and now Dr Howes since we moved to MN in 2005. It is a drive from our house, but they are worth it! Compassionate and so caring to both the humans and pets alike. They have worked to keep cost manageable, letting us know if something needs to be done ASAP or can wait until the next visit.

Ive taken my pets here for over seven years. They have fantastic, caring and trustworthy staff and doctors. I mistakenly had once tried a different hospital a couple years ago... my beloved dog came back to me paralized! I now only trust, and I highly recommend, Brighton Veterinary Hospital.

Since my dog was a puppy, she has been going here. I would recommend this vet to anyone. Dr. Howes is amazing. He is so good with how he interacts with her and I trust him a 100%. I have had Dr. Nelson as well, and he is also great. This vet has great hours, and also great staff!

You will NEVER find a more caring place to bring your loving pet. They care for your pet as if it was their own, they treat the owner with such concern. I have gone to many veterinary hospitals, but never to one with such concern for you and your loving pet.
