I cannot believe all of the negative reviews. Ive been going to this vet for 18 years, and not one time have I had any problems with all the numerous cats and dogs of mine, that have seen Dr. Paulsen over that span of time. Youd think I wouldve had one bad experience as numbers would say, but no. He treated my dog for heart-worms, and just recently did a splendid foot repair with stitches on another dogs rear paw. He literally saved my dogs foot from becoming gangrene, and prevented her from becoming a 3 footed canine. I wish those people saying the bad things would publicly announce who they are. Theyre not going back to see him anyway, they say. So identify. There would be less negatives if they did identify themselves. What I like most about this vet is that it will be highly unlikely to show this vet something that he hasnt experienced before. You cannot teach experience.

This vet is a jerk. I was treated like a second class citizen here and I will not be recommending this business to any friends wondering where to take their pets. He literally accused me of texting while he was talking to me and all I was trying to do was show him a picture in my phone. He didnt even glance at the picture, after his blow up I was treated like a piece of garbage for the rest of the time spent there. I am an animal lover. I know a lot of people who are animal lovers too. When the conversation comes up where one of my friends is inquiring about what vet they should take their pet to (which happens pretty frequently), this clinic will NOT have my endorsement. My personal opinion is that I want to take my animals to a doctor who enjoys his/her profession enough to display common courtesy with his customers.

When I was in High School I used to volunteer at this clinic ... like 15 years ago. I remembered the vet as being kinda stoic but generally nice and definately competent. So when we rescued one of our cats and it was time to get her vetted I took her to this clinic. BIG MISTAKE!! He was doing a spay and suggested since he would already have her under to use a waterpick to clean out her ears since she had such bad ear mites. I agreed and my cat has never heard anything since then. He DEAFENED my cat in both ears and not so much as an Im sorry. The cat used to come when you called her now we have tried for years but she just doesnt respond to sounds anymore, not even loud or startling sounds. I think that he USED to be a good vet and that at this point he needs to retire.

Will never visit again. I originally came here since their prices were reasonable and close to home. Had my kittens spayed and neutered and they were never acting the same again. They kept on pushing for declaw services which I mentioned repeatedly I didnt want. Were really well trained before the overnight visit, and now they wont do anything I previously trained them for. In a visit later, I asked for only rabies booster shots, Dr. Paulsen gave me 3 shots and billed me for all of them. Later, he didnt give me a rabies certificate and required me to threaten them before the clinic sent one to me. He doesnt care about your pets, only your money. Will go to Freys for much better service.

These negative reviews are blowing my mind! I only lived in Cedar Rapids for a couple of years but taking my minpin to this vet was a wonderful experience. I have nothing but wondeful things to say about my experiences here. I think some people dont understand that your pet has to be held tightly at times to prevent them from hurting themselves during a particular procedure or treatment. What may seem like "rough" handling of the pets is actually simply "matter-of-fact" know how. My pup is a member of my family and I would never recommend a vet if I didnt have complete confidence in both knowledge and ability ... and I highly recommend this vet.

the vet is a complete jerk, he treated me like garbage, it makes me wonder how he treated my cat when i wasnt there.. he also tried to say my cat had earmites when i know for a fact he didnt and he charged me for them and when i told him i knew my cat didnt have them, he straight out said oh well, it was his word against mine.. i couldnt believe it.. they quoted me over 150 less than what they charged me and when i refused to pay for all of the extra charges he said he wouldnt give my cat back so i had no choice.. i would never go back to that vet again, even if my cat was dying and i had no where else to go, hes seriously that bad.

Dr. Paulsen was excellent. Weve been going to the clinic since 2004 with our menagerie of pets. My dog needed 2 surgeries and he gave us a huge discount on the second one and charged us nothing for the follow up office visit. I cant believe the negative reviews Ive read on here. The claims to rude and unprofessional behavior lack any specific details, so apart from the accidental OD, I tend to believe the problem was with overly sensitive pet owners rather than the doctor.

Dr. Paulsen KILLED my dog. He hates animals. He is only in it for the money. If you take your pet there now stop. He is an incompetent old man who should not be practicing any longer. We took our dog in for a teeth cleaning. And even though he had been going there his whole life and had never weighed any different they wrote the wrong weight on the chart and ended up overdosing him. So if you love you pet go somewhere else. PLEASE! 0 STARS

My roommate took our dog to Dr. Paulsen. He was extremely harsh,rude,unprofessional and belittling. He made no attempt to calm or befriend our very frightened pet. He was completely oblivious to the fact that he had terribly upset my roommate. She told the receptionist she would NEVER be back. She didnt pay him $83 to be treated that way. We recommend that you DO NOT take your pets to this clinic.

I have been taking my pets here since my family moved to Cedar Rapids 11 years ago and have had nothing but wonderful experiences with all of my pets. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and seem to care for my pets as I do. The veterinarian has a wonderful way with animals. I have sent my friends there as well and we are very satisfied with the service. I highly recommend this clinic!

Dr. Paulsen is one of the rudest and unprofessional vets that I have ever encountered. He could care less about his customers and even his staff were mortified by his behavior. He is one of the biggest jerks I met as a person. I cant believe he is in the listings for Christian business owners. If you do not care about your pet, nor how you are treated then I highly recommend this place.

Weve been taking or family dog here for a little over 5 years now and have never had a problem. The vet cares about the animals hes looking after. When we first got our dog friends recommended Kenwood Animal Clinic and every time we need something done with our dog they are very helpful.
