I went to Dr. Barry for a normal exam to have some moles checked out. He ended up removing a large mole on my lower back, and stitched me back up. The lower back tissue is very thick, so he had to do internal stitches as well as external. I was told there would be some scarring, but shouldnt be too noticeable and will heal over time. Its been 3 years since the procedure, and the scar is horrible. I have an indentation in my back about 1/2" by 2" where the incision was made and its still sensitive to any pressure. I wish I hadnt allowed him to operate on my back.

Dr. Barry gave me thorough and astute care in diagnosing and treating a case of dermatitis on my ear. I found his nursing staff pleasant, accommodating and prompt. While himself occasionally frosty, Dr. Barry is a capable and gifted practitioner, having diagnosed me and treated my dermatitis nearly-completely within a week. I would come back to him if circumstances warranted it.

I went to this office, by first impression it is like a third world clinic. I had a blood blister that was removed (cut) from my nail bed. The blood blister came back so I decided to go to another doctor who burnt it off... no problems since. The practice Dr. Barry uses is outdated.

I had a very simple procedure done, nothing to be concerned about. He said it would be roughly $200, the same as last time. This time I get a $500 bill from him, and a $600 bill from the University of Iowa. Im very upset and will not be going there again.

Dr Barry has been my dermatologist for the last 20 years. I have always found him to be thorough and caring. Hes a great doctor.
