Five years ago I had my initial visit to Dr. Pereiras office. From the minute I walked in the door there was a warm friendly professionalism exhibited by everyone on the staff, and most especially Dr. Pereira. I met Dr. Pereira May, 2012, as I had scheduled an appointment because my wife and I noted a sudden change in a mole on my abdomen. His staff got me in for the appointment without delay. Dr. Pereira examined me and took time to explain he was concerned this mole could be malignant. He further explained the need to biopsy the mole as quickly as possible. Dr. Pereira took time out of his busy appointment schedule to take the biopsy during my initial visit. Four days later his very professional and friendly office staff telephoned me and advised me Dr. Pereira requested an appointment. He made room in his schedule for me that day. During that consultation he informed me the biopsy indicated the mole was indeed, malignant, and that I had malignant melanoma. He took extra time and concern to explain what this diagnosis meant. He and his office staff assisted my wife and I in getting an appointment at the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion, IL. Within one week of my initial visit, I was being seen by a specialty cancer treatment facility. Dr. Pereira and his staff saw us through some extensive surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy. I have seen him for over thirty appointments the last five years. During that time, Dr. Pereira and his staff have become not only trusted health care professionals, but friends. Thanks to his immediate concern, action and medical expertise, I have not shown any reoccurrence of my malignancy for four years. I still see him on a regular basis to insure I am not showing any moles with signs of malignancy. I unequivocally recommend Dr. Pereira and his staff for anyone with any type of dermatological concern. I sincerely believe you will receive the most compassionate, best dermatologic care in Muscatine.
