My experience at Mortenson Family Dental (MFD) was nothing short of horrific. My first visit to MFD was for an annual cleaning and x-rays. After reviewing the x-rays/oral exam, the dentist concluded I had 2 cavities and one filing that required replacement. Following is a brief list of events during my second visit: 1. A dental assistant applied a pre-anaesthetic gel to numb my gums prior to anesthetic injection. She left the cotton swab in my mouth for ~15 minutes while she commenced talking with a patient in another room. Saliva began to build up in my mouth and I began to drool on myself. 2. The dentist entered the room removed the cotton swab and injected the anesthetic into my gums. She then left the room informing me she would return in 10 minutes to ensure the anesthetic set in. She did not return for ~45 minutes. 3. Upon returning she apologized and immediately began to drill. During her frantic drilling she recklessly hit teeth with the drill bit other than those she was suppose to be repairing. 4. After drilling, she instructed her dental assistant to reconstruct my teeth (note: it has always been my experience that the dentist, not a dental assistant reconstruct/fill cavities). Following is a brief list of events with the dental assistant: 4.a. She was not gentle while working in my mouth. At one point, she dropped the stainless steel dental inspection mirror she was using to view my teeth on my head then laughed nervously. 4.b. Due to the aforementioned ~45 minute wait after injection of anesthetic, I began to experience sever bouts of pain as the dental assistant began removing the excess filling material from my teeth. I informed her of such and as a result had to take a second injection of anesthetic. 4.c. She was generally rude and unconcerned with my mouth/teeth judging by the force with which she would jam her fingers/tools into my mouth. Her rudeness appeared to increase after I informed her of the aforementioned pain via 4.b. 5. Upon completion of the rebuilding effort via the dental assistant, the dentist came back in and did some "touching up." She nervously laughed and asked if my teeth always had wide spaces between each tooth as she flossed my molars. I told her no. Well, there are wide spaces now in front of and behind the tooth she removed the filling from. In truth, the above does not begin to describe the reality of what I experienced (it is my hope that this review will save you from your own nightmare). At this point, I am scheduled to have my preferred/trusted dentist review MFDs work as I am experiencing the following of which I was not prior to my second visit: 1. My teeth no longer align correctly. The teeth on the right hand side of my mouth (the side the dentist removed a filling from) are substantially lower, and, as a result, the teeth on my left hand side of my mouth no longer align. Specifically, the left hand side of my upper molars sit in the center of my lower molars. Additionally, my lower front teeth now forcibly press into my upper front teeth. 2. I now have constant headaches. Prior to my visit to MFD, I rarely experienced headaches. Now I get them everyday and require a minimum of 4 Advil. 3. My teeth, even those not "worked on" are sensitive and begin aching periodically during the day. I suspect this is due to getting hit with the drill bit. In closing, during my time at MFD, the dentist inefficiently balanced her time between three patients. I felt like I was her least priority among said patients. As a result, she came off as rushed and panicked. Steady patient flow, as opposed to workmanship, seems to be the priority. Learn from my experience and seek a local dentist (MFD has ~ 30 locations throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana) who answers to their own bottomline and not that of a parent company; you will be happy you did. The only silver-lining in this is that I, rather than my wife, was scheduled first.

This post is coming a bit late, but it is only now that I have learned how much damage my visit, really caused. I first came to this place for an extraction, which went pretty smooth, sandra was walking me through the whole process and made me very confortable. Once my extraction sight healed, I returned for a cleaning and full set of xrays, which again, sandra was with me and explained everything happening Made another appointment to begin my treatment plan, this was one of the worst mistakes I ever made, when entering my room, I explained to the assistant that I thought we should work on the cavities that were causing me pain,I had a cavity of some sort,in almost every tooth, but requested to start of the side I eat on(the left),so I wouldnt be in pain. Zimmerman came in,in a rush, didnt say much to me and starting numbing the upper right side of my mouth, when heleft left, I asked the assistant why he numbed that side, she stated that they would get them all fixed for me (screw you, this is how we do it). Zimmerman came back and started drilling, hitting the fronts of my teeth and was drilling in between them instead of the center where most pain was.he then dissapeared, the assistant fill in the new gaps they had created, this was a hard task for her it seemed,it took a very long time, she bounced from tooth to tooth, and had to keep going back to one she already worked on,when she was done,my tteth would not close properly, but she said that would gring down in a week or so, Zimmerman did not come to check her work, she walked me out the the lobby, that was it,I never went back.......It is now 2 years since that visit,I went the dentist today that informed me the enamel on 2 of my FRONT teeth had been drilled off,and because of that, improper fillings and needed work,I am schedualed to have 4 (front) ofthe of the 6 teeth they worked onremoved, because my insurance wont pay for a root canal,I am only 26,and and this place has cost me a smile.

But my second vist wen they called to conferm my visit they tell me she not there any more she moved back to her home city an they said they had a temp dentist i had never heard of such a thing but i knew this is just a bad ideal nomatter how you serve it its no good so i told them i didt want a temp when i get there everyone seemed to be in a bad mood so it took way longer then normal an i have had alot of work done an teeth pulled when it was over he stiched me up it was way too tight the stiches, way more pain for alot longer time period.
