I used Dodge City to board my dog for the weekend since my normal vet was booked. When I got there, I was not acknowledged when I came in, I stood by the reception counter and waited for one of the girls behind the desk to talk to me. The waiting room was full of people and dogs, there were 4 different people at the counter trying to pay out while only 2 girls were working the desk. I waited for 45 minutes and the entire waiting room had been cleared of people bringing their dogs in to actually get something done. All I wanted was to drop off my dog. Three people came in after me and got service before I did. Being the nice polite person I am, I continued to wait. Finally one, nice man told one of the girls I had been standing there for a long time waiting. She finally asked me what I was there for and I told her I was just trying to drop off my dog for boarding. My other vets office sent my dogs shot record over the day before, so I knew she had all the info she needed. She could not find my dogs shot record. She would not check their fax machine, called over to the other vets office to ask if they sent it, they said yes, and the girl still DID NOT go check the fax machine to see if it was there. Finally, she just wrote down what the other office said was on my dogs record and then she did not understand what she wrote down. She then waited for the other girl to help her out. Finally once she figured out that she had all the info for my dog, she called someone from the back to come up to the front and get my dog. after 15 more minutes, a kid showed up, looked like he was in no hurry at all, and finally took my dog to the back. I was 45 minutes late getting to work because I had to wait so long. I normally use WALKER ANIMAL HOSPITAL and they are GREAT. I would highly recommend using them. They are always nice, greet you when you walk in, and check to see what you are there for and get your dog immediately if you are just boarding. And they are very fair priced!! only 12.00 a day to keep my 75lb. dog who cant go on long road trips with me. I am fearful for my dog and how she will be treated this weekend because dodge city was the only place that had vacancies. When I get her back on Monday, we will NEVER EVER GO BACK TO DODGE CITY. I thought the name was funny...now I know why. They are slow, incompetant, and dont care for customer service at all.

I cant speak for as to why some people here have reported bad service. But I can say that after having been to several vets in the Baton Rouge Metro area, Dodge city has given my family the best care I have received. I have three dogs and have been using Dodge City for the past three years. Beside the routine care for my dogs (shots, heart worm medication, check-ups, etc.) I have used them for specialized services also. I have a dog that has had back issues and another dog that has Cushings disease. If Dodge City was unable to provide care at their location, then they were able to recommend me to someone that they know for special care. Every time I walk in the clinic, I am greeted immediately or if they are really busy they will greet me as soon as they can. The staff knows my name and the names of my dogs and inquire about them and their well-being even if I am only there to get a nail trim. The prices for services are reasonable at the very least. The cost for medication (at least the medication we purchase there) is the best price around. I have shopped other pet pharmacies, Costco, and online, and Dodge City was still the least expensive. Like I said before...I cant speak for the care that others have received...but I do know that you cannot please everybody and maybe some of those who have had "bad" experiences are going to have bad experiences no matter where they go.

No offense, but the others who give this vet bad reviews are either trolls or will never be happy with anything. All of our pets have gone here and they have been nothing but caring and informative. Have even had the vet herself call us on vacation when our dogs were boarded there (and having their checkups as well) to let us know about a worsening heart murmur and a bladder infection that one of our dogs had. We had to put down 2 of our beloved cats (3 years apart), and the vets there were very, very caring and understanding at how emotionally distressing it was for us. Yes, there is one vet there that I do not care for (an older man who just seems like he needs to retire because hes not very nice), but all of the others, including the staff, have been nothing but nice. They are very busy and the front desk is understaffed, so there is a wait to pay or check in.

My husband brought our beloved baby boy (jager our boxer) because he was acting super funny. They were very patient and kind and treated him well. Everyone was very nice and caring and we felt extremely comfortable. The Vet was very kind. Their over all experience was good. The price was amazing as well. I did go in another time earlier to this to purchase Cap star for my dog and cat and they were overly busy. Felt like I stood at the front counter forever while people walked around the front desk without making eye contact or asking what I needed. So I guess its hit or miss.

If you dont have an appointment, you may have to wait your turn. Though its the same way at Sherwood South, which is WAY more expensive. I have never waited more than 45 minutes, and there was a waiting room full of other pups in front of me so I expected to wait my turn. The staff is very friendly. The drs have been helpful with both of my dogs and the variety of issues I have brought them, all emergency visits. This will now be where I bring all my animals. Closer and much cheaper.

The prices here are great. I have noticed how cheap they are since I moved to New Orleans-here the prices are double. But I guess you get what you pay for. The service is awesome here compared to Dodge! The staff at Dodge City were unremarkable. The doctors seem to have no personal communication skills and they have never made me feel welcome to be there. However, like I said, the price always brought me back there!

Terrible! Had a cat who developed diabetes, they prescribed a $100.00+ bottle of insulin. Other vets were appalled and I was able to find a very affordable insulin. Cat thrived for several years. When it was "time" we made APPOINTMENT for euthanasia. Office made us wait 45 minutes. Cat became distraught and died in my husbands arms while still in waiting room, WITH APPOINTMENT. Office/staff not at all compassionate.
