Both rude and disorganized. The vet themselves are alright, but the front desk staff is horrible! I called them to ask them how much it would cost to have Xrays done on my dogs knee. I specified it was going to be for a medial luxating patella and that he is 95 lbs, so it might require multiple shots and/or sedation. They quoted me one price, and when we got him there they doubled it and claimed I hadnt specified this size of dog or how many X-rays were needed, which was false. THEN I called them the day before my dog was to have surgery at another vet to ask them to send the X-rays over to the surgeon. They told me they would call me back, and didnt. They never faxed over the X-rays and never called me to tell me that they didnt. The following day while my dog was supposed to be in surgery I took my cat to Main Street due to a urinary tract infection. While I was there I followed up about the Xrays and only then discovered that they never sent them. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and gave me attitude and said the technician that handles the Xrays was not in that day. I asked if these were simply JPEG files that were going to be emailed. The woman looked as if I was speaking Chinese. I said I guess I would have to go home and see if I could find the CD with the JPEG files (which it turned out was buried somewhere in storage) and she replied "Wait, YOU have the files?" as if how dare I ask them to email them when I have the files at home?! In the end I had to pay another $200 for new Xrays at the surgeon, so in the end Main Street cost me about $400. Oh, oh, and then the vet wrote me a prescription for my cat to be on antibiotic for a prescribed length of time, but they only gave me half the amount of antibiotic needed. The vet seemed nice but was obviously rushed, due, Im sure, to the fact that they are renowned for overbooking appointments. When I got home and opened it I saw that it had already been opened and there was black mold around the top of the broken seal. I called them to tell them, and they apologetically said to just bring it back, that there must have been a "manufacturer error", and that they would just have to swap it out. Then when I did the girl at the front desk said "Did you refrigerate it?" And I said no, because it was already spoiled when I got it. Then she said its a powder than they open and mix for us before giving it to the patients, so it was normal to be opened. And I said "Then dont you think the woman on the phone should have told me that instead of telling me it must be a manufacturer error?" And she said "What woman?" and I said "I dont know, one of the 15 front desk women you seem to perpetually rotate around here." She reluctantly, and with a great deal of attitude, gave me a new one -- which, mind you, was still only half the dose my cats instructions said she required. I will NEVER go back here. If you ever have any really serious ailments and/or surgeries, I recommend going to NOVA pet Center in Chantilly, VA. Its a very long hike but I got consistently caring and expert service at a significantly lower price than other vets, so with the important stuff I will always take my pets there.

I love the staff at Main Street Veterinary Hospital, and I have an especially soft spot for Dr. Molesworth. He has a way with my dogs that defies explanation and belief (I have a very particular female Doberman and a goofy young male German Shepherd). However, prior to this young Shepherd, I rescued an adult male shepherd, estimated to be about 4-5 years old when he came into my life. Only a few short years later, he was diagnosed with cancer. I was devastated, as this boy had been through a lot in his life already, but had only been in mine for about 4 years at the time of his diagnosis. I was talked through a variety of options and treatments and non-treatments, and things were thoroughly explained to me as best as could be. I felt empowered by the information provided to me by the doctors at Main Street instead of feeling grief over such a diagnosis. As it turned out, after deciding to give chemo a shot for this loving boy, not only did I get another 16 months out of him (I was told it may help to spend an additional 9-12 months), but he "bounced back" to a seemingly youthful, playful, goofy Shepherd. Unlike the chemo humans are given, the treatment provided for my four-legged family member actually afforded us all extended quality time together, with minimal moments of "tough days" and lots and lots of wonderful time to make memories before his passing. I give an awful lot of the credit to the gentle, considerate care we received from the staff and doctors at Main Street. Hopefully by now, it is needless to say that I highly recommend this wonderful animal hospital to anyone who is looking for a quality care establishment for your furry, feathered, or otherwise family members!

I took my Dog Butchie there for six months. A lot of tests and bloodwork. Then he got two sonogram The vet said my Butchie had IBA. BUT saw a small tumor on his adrenal gland. Sent me to another vet he said it was fifteen hundred dollars for biopsy. My baby kept losing weight was twenty-five to twelve lbs. He was vomiting and diarrhea. On medicine but didnt help him. Took him back to main street vet he kept him for three days. First he was doing better then called them to see how he was doing girl said not good vet wanted to know what I wanted to do she said that I could bring Butchie home he would die within a few days their was nothing the vet could do for him or I could have him put to sleep there.I Love my Butchie very much. Ive been crying everyday and night since April 12th The vet never talked to me to tell me the biopsy was still a position. So I had my beloved Butchie put to sleep. I was crying so hard thought I was going to have a heartache. I said to the Doctor you couldnt help my Butchie . He turn and looked at me. Said well you didnt want to get him A biopsy I didnt know how to treat him Dont know what was wrong with him. After six months A lot of money . That was the vets answer to me. Made me even more sad. I would have got my Butchie the Biopsy but I was under the impression that was not a 0ption anymore. My Daughter who lives in Florida called main street wanted to talk to vet who was in my Butchie care. The girl told her the vet cant talk to her.Im seventy four yrs old This has made me heartbroken. I miss him so much. His two sisters do too.I would never take my other to doggies there. I feel like my baby should still be here with me.
