I recently moved away, but will continue to patronize VCA Lewis despite the drive. All of the Doctors I have interacted with over the 8 years since I moved to the area have been top notch, Dr. Hebner (my usual doctor) takes his time, obviously adores animals, notices the smallest things (when my friend brought his cat here, Dr Hebner noted a tiny mass that the oncologist later commented would have been overlooked by most vets), takes into account owner preferences (I am one of those owners super picky about healthy food choices, only necessary vaccines, etc), is skilled with exotics (he was wonderful with my rats), and truly stays involved in the lives of the pets (my dog had to go in for multiple procedures and visits with a specialist and Dr. Hebner routinely called to follow up, check in, and answer questions). I cannot speak highly enough. The staff is also fantastic, each is a personality and some more gregarious than others, but they all show interest in the animals, know the pets and people by name (even on surprise visits), and take good care of you. They are pricey (I understand that is typical of VCA animal hospitals, plus they are in the Columbia area), but I know they are worth every penny.

IF I COULD MARK NO STAR AS AN OPTION I WOULD. Our 8MONTH OLD dog Rileigh was in VCA Lewis on 5/22/17 to be spayed, she was just put to sleep this morning because her incision opened and her insides fell out. When my parents called to get emergency assistance from VCA Lewis they were told to take her to the pet ER that was closest. We were also told that in order for her to be saved by VCA Lewis my parents needed to come up with $4000.00 to $6000.00 due at the time to fix her. They were unwilling to do payment arrangements or even to bill none the less fix whatever had ruptured ,Meanwhile VCA Lewis is were she had her surgery to begin with on 5/22/17. But because the Animal Advocates voucher does not cover the surgery our Rileigh now needed to keep here alive there was nothing else that could be done for her. The ER vet explained that their cost is the same and there was no guarantee that our Rileigh would still survive. With a very heavy heart we then deduced that the best and only decision we could make, was to allow for the ER vet to put her down. BROKEN HEARTEDLY I wonder if we didnt use Funding to have our Rileigh spayed she would still be here with us.

We brought our almost-12 year old dog to this vet in an emergency situation, as he was declining rapidly over the course of only a few hours. Dr. Wenzel was very sympathetic of our sweet pup and explained to us what he was going through and that he was in a lot of pain. She also explained that he could have surgery but that it was not guaranteed that he would survive it and that it would be very costly. We decided the best option was to put our pup down, and Dr. Wenzel and the staff were wonderful. We were distraught and they allowed us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. They explained everything as they did it and were gentle with him. While we were a bit dazed and in shock as we left (we hadnt expected the outcome upon arrival), we will be bringing our younger dog here for vet services going forward - we were both impressed and thankful for how they handled everything for us.

When I found lumps on my aging dog, I took her to this vet for the first time. They got me in quickly and explained all of the testing options by reliability and cost. Our vet was kind and patient, exactly what I needed. After a moderate amount of testing and increasing symptoms, it was clear that we needed to make an appointment to put our girl down. I cant imagine how hard it is to do their job. They handled her, the situation and my loss in the best way possible. They granted me an open ended amount of time with her and gave lots of options along the way to make us both as comfortable as possible. Im extremely thankful for the staff and their kindness during a difficult time.

We had to take our 14.5 year old mixed breed dog to VCA Lewis the day after Thanksgiving for an emergency visit. We were certain we would not be bring our "puppy" home, she was not even able to walk. We got lucky and the Vet that saw our dog was Dr. Krug!!! Let me tell you she is amazing!!! To make a long story short, we brought our dog home and she is doing fabulous, we call her our "miracle puppy". We never thought wed leave our former vet back in Montgomery County, but after Dr. Krug and the the wonderful staff, we have decided to keep our dog at VCA. We havent met any of the other veterinarians, but Dr. Krug I would recommend to anyone!

I love this place. I first found then when my poor dog had issues with her anal glands and they fit her in immediately. Ive been going to them ever since. Last night, my pup had issues with her throat (collapsing trachea) that didnt resolve within 10 minutes. It was about 6:30 at night and I called VCA. They fix my baby in immediately, took care of her, and calmed me down as well. Dr. Wenzel is the BEST. She always takes her time to explain what happened, give reasons as to why it couldve happened, and helps with preventative measures. Her "bedside" manner is fantastic and shes so gentle with my dog.

Its a rather large practice. The staff is great and they are very friendly. Evening appointments get me in and out on time. All the vets are nice but some of them come off more like a used car salesman gather than a DVM. Some of the vets are very layed back about the "optional" tests and others make it sound like they are not optional. My average visit for each of my 2 dogs is around $300 each (for a well dog) and I opt not to buy their over priced heartworm meds and flee and tick preventitive. I am looking for a cheaper vet in Columbia.

VCA Lewis is a wonderful animal hospital. The courteous, compassionate, and empathetic staff made a difficult time for us easier to bear. We cannot thank them enough for the care we received. Dr. Hebner is a very kind, gentle, and knowledgeable vet who specializes in "exotics" (small mammals and the like, in our case, our little hedgehog). In addition to the excellent staff, they also have very convenient hours and a very nice office. After the care we received, I couldnt imagine going anywhere else.

Dr. Kanakry continues to be a hero for my cats. He goes above and beyond each and every time. We have had to deal with some unusual and potentially devastating issues and Dr. Kanakry has ensured that we had the best possible information and care, including other specialists. All the techs and staff have been marvelous, warm and caring. Al has been particularly thoughtful. Other doctors there have also been fantastic and I cant imagine going any where else. Thanks to everyone at VCA Lewis!

Ive tried several vets and VCA Lewis has surpassed them all. The fact that they are open until 10PM is an incredible convenience and makes it easy to schedule appointments that fit my schedule. Dr. Hebner is a wonderful vet who has always been gentle and kind, and is also experienced with exotics. I recently had to have a pet put to sleep due to a terminal condition, and Dr. Hebner and the entire staff were very caring and made a difficult process as easy as possible.
