BEWARE! I had a darling pomeranian that i purchased from a breeder at age 6 1/2. dr. Carman was his vet for the next 6 1/2 year His name was Teddy Boo Bear and he looked just like a live teddy bear. This past May 2017 I took Teddy in to see Dr. Carman as he had developed a cough. He had just turned 13 and had recently had a wellness check, heart strong, blood work fine, running, playing and eating like a puppy Poms can live to be 16 and I had hope that he would after the good report - several months later he had a cough and I took him to Dr. Carman. The xray showed a 2 inch tumor near his lung - Dr. Carman said I could have him another year or two ant made an appt for me to come back in two weeks. He prescribed an antibiotic and told me he was prescribing a childrens cough medicine. He gave me a syringe and marked it with a magic marker at the 2 ml mark and said to give him a dose in the morning and one at night. He said it would not solve the problem but would help with the couch. Four days later, Teddy went dramatically downhill, and looked very sick. I called Dr, Carman that morning and every couple of hours, was told by staff he would call when he got time, but he did not call, I told staff how sick my dog was and could I bring him in, told no appt available call back next day I started called morning of fifth day and called five times, staff assured me Dr. Carman would call, I was crying saying was afraid I was losing him at 5 pm that night I received call from staff and said dr carman had no time to talk to me, to take my dog to critical care in bowie. After giving him his dose of medicine that night he became so distressed that I took him to Cats and Dogs in Bowie and was advised that he could not breathe and nothing could be done. He was euthanized. This is what I researched and found out Dr Carman prescribed a drug called HYDROCODONE-HOMATROPINE 5-1-5 SYRUP (NOT A CHILDRENS COUGH SYRUP instructions say do not give to children six years of age or younger The use of hydrocodone in children younger than six has lead to deadly breathing problems. By dog had no trouble breathing when he went to Dr. Carman but on the sixth day of being on this medicine he died because he could not breathe. He only weighed six lbs, the size of a small baby. I called Dr. Carman several days later and he still did not return my call. Two weeks later I called the office and was very aggressive and demanded Dr Carman call me. All he said was hey he was 13 and had a tumor and we prescribe this medicine for dogs all the time. I know this medicine killed my dog and there is no excuse for a patient of six 1/2 years in distress not getting a call back and not allowed to bring in my teddy that was like a child to me. When I reminded Dr Carman that he had told me he was prescribing a childrens cough medicine he denied saying that. I will never forgive myself for taking my beloved Teddy to Dr. Carman. BEWARE

This review and rating is for Dr. shmidt. I had taken my cat to Lynn for 2+ years without complaint. When my cats eye was injured by a wand toy when I was playing with him (ARGH!), I took my cat in (early Saturday morning). I was totally freaked out, and my husband accompanied me. Shmidt saw my cat for ten minutes, during which time he lost all credibility and his treatment of my cat fell below the minimum standard of care. First, after I told him exactly how the injury happened and when, shmidt wildly speculated with no rationale that the eye injury could have happened last night "or from prior injuries, I dont know." what? After showing us how to apply antibiotic ointment to the eye, he did not indicate how often to apply it. I had to expressly ask if 3 times a day was enough, and he said yes. My husband asked if it would be a problem that my cat has been rubbing his eye, and shmidt responded curtly, "well, hes going to rub his eye after you apply the medicine." That obviously did not answer the question. Then, shmidt looked at my cats teeth and he smiled at me and said roguishly that he was making sure I didnt knock out any of my cats teeth. What? And that was the end of the appt. it cost us $80. I got two other opinions from other vets, one from a recommended pet ER, and both said it was important to monitor the rubbing of the eye. One vet strongly encouraged the use of an Elizabethan collar to prevent rubbing, so we bought one and put it on my cat. My husband took my cat in again when lynn was open again (after the weekend) to be checked out by another vet at Lynn, and he had a completely different experience with Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller said we could apply the ointment every 3 hours, which is much more than the 3 times per day that shmidt said. Dr. Miller also gave my cat pain medicine, which shmidt had not even indicated was a possibility. She said it was important to monitor the rubbing of the eye in case it looked worse thereafter, which was something shmidt did not even consider. She was interested in my cats well being and thorough. We were not charged for this visit. My cats eye is healing wonderfully now, thank god. But I am afraid to speculate how things might have turned out if I had not consulted with 2 other vets and Dr. Miller. Shmidt has absolutely no business treating your pet. He acted with complete apathy for my cats well being, and he showed a lack of competence and a lack thoroughness that is well below the minimum standard of care for a professional vet. I caution those who trust Lynn with your pets to ensure that shmidt is not the vet who has been assigned to your next appt.

Great experience with the vet but was badly misled about using our pet insurance plan. As a result, we will not return because of the malfeasance and unprofessionalism of the staff. We left our old vet because we had purchased a pet insurance plan (Pet Assure) that the old vet did not take. After calling several local vets, we were told by Lynn Animal Hospital that they took this plan. I called ahead of time to make sure that they did. I asked again when we came in. And I asked a third time when I paid. When it came time to be reimbursed they then informed me that they did NOT take the plan. Making the entire matter more unpleasant, when I called about this matter after the visit, the front desk person said she would speak to the office manager and get back to me. Didnt happen. After waiting a week to hear from them, I called them back. The office manager answered the phone and immediately knew who I was. She offered no apology for not calling back and made it very clear that they never had taken Pet Assure and were not going to offer any kind of consideration, even though I was clear why we had come to them, that I had specifically asked about this and they had explicitly told me they used Pet Assure. You can see from other ratings that Lynn is well thought of and, as I stated at the beginning, our experience with the vet herself was very good. However, this experience with the staff left a bitter taste from beginning to end. Staff clearly told us our insurance would be accepted. We left our old vet, who we liked very much, because of that representation. And we found the office manager to be quite unsympathetic and adamant that they had made no mistakes. It was a real, "Sorry Charlie" attitude. Thanks so much, Lynn Animal Hospital for the professional treatment.
