Dr. Colwell and her staff are wonderful. My animals and I have always been shown respect, compassion and have received the best care. I have always been seen on time and Im never hit with any surprises at check out. My bill is always (privately) detailed and explained thoroughly. If any recommendations are made, there is a very clear estimate, explanation and detailed report given at that time. Which is especially wonderful if your pet isnt well, sometimes you can forget the small details so its always nice to have it in writing. Dr. Colwell will tell you when she has specials coming up and will do her very best to save you money. I could go on about so many wonderful details, but Ill conclude with what matters to me most. I had to make the extremely hard decision to put my dog down after 15.5 years, which was beyond gut wrenching for me. Dr. Colwell came out to my home with her assistant and explained everything beforehand and during. She was respectful and beyond kind. Her staff through the process leading up to my decision let me cry (sob) and never ever showed any type of judgement. They are truly a professional team and I would recommend them to anyone. I feel very fortunate to have them as part of my team taking care of the pets I love so much.

When we moved to the area last year we started taking our dog to the new Eldersburg vet, and they were friendly but it was pretty clear they wanted to push certain things to make some bucks. After an X-ray mistake (didnt tell us they were going to x-ray our dog, then took an x-ray and said we shouldnt have fed him....they should have asked if he ate before they gave the x-ray, they made us pay for it despite all of this) we decided to try the Sykesville Veterinary Clinic. They were real friendly, didnt push anything on us that we didnt want, and best of all they only vaccinate our dog after 3 years, instead of every year which most vets try to push despite reports saying it is unhealthy to do so. All of the doctors are knowledgeable. Overall my experiences with them have been solid.

On the phone, we were offered a complimentary initial exam for one of the feral kittens we had rescued. The staff was not professional, making derogatory comments about my daughters age. We were then told that they would require payment for treatments in advance in order to render the complimentary exam. As they say, nothing in life is free. We were fooled into thinking that this vet was interested in extending a kindness to those helping the helpless animals. Boo Sykesville Vet!

My mother goes to this vet hospital since she lives down the street. My dogs are skeptical going to the vets (kind of how humans are about going to the doctors) but the staff here treated them like one of their own. When my beagle had to be put down the vet came on her lunch break to help us as he could not walk or move. He was an old guy and Dr. Colwell made the experience easier on my parents. It is obvious the vet cares about her clients, especially during hard times.

Our cat had diabetes, and they gave us some insulin for it. They wanted the cat to come for blood tests every 10 days! But later, we found out that the insulin the vet gave us was discontinued by the FDA not to long ago. Thats why it was only $45 a bottle!!! Overall, this vet only wants money. I highly recommend a vet somewhere else like in Columbia or Westminster. Or even Silver Spring has a good one too! Stay away form this vet clinic.

Dr. Colwell and the whole staff at Sykesville Veterinary Clinic are the absolute best. They are very thorough with the animals and clearly care so much about their health and well-being. I also love that the doctor follows up with us after the visit to make sure our puppies are doing well. I highly recommend bringing your pets here.

Rude receptionist waited patiently while she waited on customer after that she proceeds to wait on 2 more customers while Im standing at the front like Im invisible she says I thought you were just standing there I just walked in to the vet just to stad there still need prescribed scheduled heart worm medication doctor greedy
