Are we talking about the same office which is located inside Chelmsford mall? I was kind of shocked by so many bad reviews. Am I just lucky because I did have pretty good experience there. My family has been going there for years and we felt pretty comfortbay in the office. To be honest, I never thought I need give them a good review because I am lazy and I think that should be the standard of a dental office. Today I put a review for my daughter who used to be scared by dentist but now at least will go there without negotiatiing with me. She had braces in a specialists office and need to have 4 adult teeth removed for space. She was so nervous and the doctor in Aspen even suggested us going to a pediatric dentist to do it under sedation. However, our insurance wont cover so we asked the doctor to give it a try. The doctor who is either a Korean or Chinese spent a lot of time taling with my daughter, found a kids channel in TV(now they have tv in chair, wow), shared some jokes about SpongeBob and did a almost painless extraction. The most interesting part is after extraction, he seriously told my daughter that she needed a prescription and that was Vanilla icecream with chocolate fudge which is my daughters favourite(how did he know?). He also told us that he would call the braces specialist to make arrangement for my daughter and every time she needs cleaning, we will be able to go to the specialist first to remove the wires so my daughter can get a thorough cleaning and we call go back to get wires put back on all free of charge. I think they deserve some credits and thats why I am here writing the review. Maybe I am just lucky for going there when they had a good mood.

I have such mixed feelings about this place. There are a few dentists at this location, and Ive been seen by three of them. One was good, one was okay, and one was terrible. The facilities themself look terribly dated which gives it the look of not being very clean. They badly could use some new examination chairs, they just look awful and it does not inspire confidence. The staff is a mixed bag, the dentists, hygenists, and assistance were all friendly. The front staff has never been very friendly. If you have a billing question, prepare to do battle (and do a lot of waiting). They really look to be overly concerned about being paid, and they nearly insist on you paying on the spot versus sending a bill. Dealing with a FSA card was a major pain as they require you to fax in itemized bills, which Aspen never gives you unless you ask for it specifically (and wait around for them to get to it). I read in the news that Aspen as a corperation pressures offices into meeting quotas, I can believe it in the attitude of the front office and how much upselling they try to push on you. I would say the actual staff that works on you are decent to good, but due to the pressure of their corperate office your best interests are not going to be top priority. Be skeptical, and dont accept their upsells (cancer screenings, special rinses, etc). Im switching to a local dentist, one who does not answer to a corperate office.

Highly NOT recommended. They dont like their customers make an informed decision which doesnt bode well for a company that manages a health related issue or any issue for that matter. God knows what could happen after you have signed all those waivers. I also later realized that the website that they introduce in their emails for their customer rating is a website that has a paid service for creating a collection of only positive reviews and even has a review generation service too, go figure. My story is: When making the appointment I told them that I am coming for an examination and I checked if they accept my dental discount plan, which they said they do. I asked if I could get the x-rays with me so that I could compare their treatment plans and rates with others without having to pay for x-rays every time (I dont have dental insurance plan). They told me I just have to sign a release document and itll be fine. I went for my appointment and I told them the same thing again. They said my options are paying 120$ just for the examination, which they had previously said itd be free and it was even 102$ more than the scheduled fee of my discount plan; or LEAVE. I left of course but it was two hours waste of time and the remnants of the bad taste of their offensive behavior left even after a day.

Im a bit dismayed by the poor reviews here. I went to their office after a tooth infection and years of poor dental health. I needed dentures and knew that was what they were going to recommend and they did. This was no simple process and required numerous visits. Every single one of those visits has been pleasant. The front desk personnel have always been friendly, polite and professional. Robert, the office manager, was excellent at laying out costs and payment options and he handled everything with my insurance carriers. Dr. Huang, Dr. Ruby , Oliver, Lilly and Tammy were all first rate in providing service in what is always, at best, an uncomfortable experience (does anyone REALLY like going to the dentist?). Yes, the first time I went in the walls were a bit dingy (theyve been repainted since!) but that in no way detracts from the excellent service I have received. Ive arrived early for appointments and theyve always managed to get me in early so I didnt sit there waiting. Every single person in the office has been very open and provided any information Ive asked for (and some I never even considered asking about.) and theyve taken a genuine interest in my care. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending this Aspen Dental office to anyone.

Went here after my new dental insurance did not cover my regular dentist. I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning during which they took xrays and had me meet with a dentist. Before they would start the cleaning I was brought into an office where an employee goes over a payment work for all the work they perceived was needed on my teeth - close to $3500 and wanted to work out a payment plan. I said I was hear for a cleaning so they brought me back to the dentist who then pressured me for the work on my teeth before, during and after the cleaning. When I would not obligate - since I had seen my regular dentist six months earlier for a cleaning and he said I needed no work. The dentist got annoyed as did the payment plan person. So I finally changed my dental plan again and was able to go back to my dentist eight months later. I had him do a full exam and he checked each item that Aspen Dental had said needed work and yes - as I thought - a financial scam, my teeth did not need the work according to my dentist. I keep recounting this story whenever someone considers Aspen Dental in Chelmsford since this place is overpriced and will tell you that you need work that is not necessary. Shame on Aspen Dental!!
