Words couldnt adequately describe how much our dogs (Copper and Red) mean to us. They are like our children. From our infamously epic sized cookie cabinet to the fact that we go by "mommy" and "daddy", our world revolves around them. NOTHING is more important than their health care. We transfered our dogs to Capeway Veterinary Clinic shortly after we adopted Red, a special needs rescue. Not long afterwards, we were forced to test our faith in our new veterinarians. Red, being a precocious puppy, chewed and swallowed a piece of my husbands shoe, and became incredibly ill. We took him in, and Dr. Sherman carefully examined him, explaining what he believed to be the problem. The prognosis was grim: he needed emergency exploratory surgery. While stressing that we could not afford to wait for the results of time consuming diagnostic tests, he said that if it had been HIS dog, this is what he would do. Needless to say, our little Red One was in good hands. Dr. Sherman and Dr. Gaudette, who performed the surgery, saved his life. They removed the obstruction that was nearly perforating his bowels, and was hours away from creating septicemia and death. Looking back, I am convinced that if we hadnt switched vets, he would no longer be with us. The Capeway crew has become an extended family to us, and we trust their advice on every level. In the end, its not because they saved Red, or the fact that they not only indulge all my questions and concerns, but they encourage them; the simple truth is that my dogs LOVE that clinic, from the doctors on down to every technician. (I have such a hard time choosing between all the vets, that we alternate so the dogs get to visit with each one.) To see my boys walk in with such joy and excitement (totally unnatural for a dog going to the vet, wouldnt you think?!), and have them greeted with affection and love, THAT says it all. After all, dogs instincts rival our own. If youre considering Capeway, I challenge you to let your dogs be the judge. I have complete faith, you wont be disappointed. Post script: since Reds early encounter, our high mainenance pup has gained frequent flyer status. A torn ACL from roughhousing with his brother led to knee surgery... eye trauma from a cat scratch sent him in more recently... and after all the veterinary care, that crazy dog still LOVES to visit the vet! Priceless!

If youre thinking of boarding your pet there, BEWARE! Ive taken my dog to them for years and have been satisfied albeit that they are more expensive than others. I boarded my dog recently and in less than 12 hours of calling to check on her, Im told she had ear and eye infections. Cocker Spaniels often have ear infections and if they had the courtesy to check with me, I would have told them to clean her ears first and then treat if it didnt clear as I do at home. I was upset that they didnt bother checking with me before treating her and was told that they can do what they felt necessary since I signed their consent form. I doubt she had an eye infection as well as she has had a bloodshot eye since the day she was born which they should have had in their records. They just take the liberty to do whatever they want and then tell you how much you owe. I was told by 2 people that I was also being charged for an office visit ($60+) but then the Vet told me they were waiving that. How generous and surprising that the bill came to $162 which was $10 more than what the first person told me I owed which included the office visit. Go figure. Needless to say, I will be going to a different vet in the future, one that is not looking to make an extra buck.

Ive been going to Capeway for a while now and I cant stop saying enough great things about them. My whole family now takes their pets there (in-laws, and a majority of my friends too). The staff is the best and while we do have our favorite Dr.s to see...my animals have seen every one of their vets and techs and they are ALL amazing!!! As always once in a while something has come up with my dog (I personally believe my dog trying to hurt himself on a regular basis) and its a little more than I can afford at that time, they have payment options to help pay so I wasnt too overwhelmed. They have even helped us over the phone when we had a question so that we didnt need to go in and get checked out. Wherever you take your fury loved one, it really comes down to just 2 things... 1)Trust- in your vet and their ability to take care of your best friends and 2) That you are not overpaying for the care that you/they are receiving.... Those who know me know that there are 3 things I never lie about: Beer, Food and my pets...And thats why I have nothing but great things to say about Capeway!!!!!

A huge thank you to Dr. Ashley and the staff at Capeway. I have been taking my beloved pup to another vet since she was 4 months old. At first, the other vet was really good with her, but as she developed more and more allergies, I just didnt feel like they were giving me enough options for treatment. My dog was suffering so much, and it broke my heart to see her struggling each day. I tried many home remedies as I searched the Internet for any possible product that would provide relief. I spent hundreds of dollars on over the counter products and home remedies and even more on meds prescribed by the other vet. On the advice of a friend and due to wonderful reviews on the Internet, I decided to move her care to Capeway. I am happy to say that within two days of seeing Dr. Ashley, she is having more relief from her allergies than she has had in years!!! I highly recommend Capeway and look forward to them assisting me with other animal issues not only for my dog but for all of my other pets as well. Keep up the great work and service to animal lovers!!

Capeway Veterinary Hospital is a beautiful, clean and open facility. The doctors and staff are caring and devoted. The staff gets to know you and your pets by name. To people who complain about pricing - you pay for what you get. People have health insurance, so we dont really feel the cost of medical care like animal owners do with out of pocket animal care expenses. In fact, our medical care would be more expensive! The veterinarians spent years in college training to get the skills needed to care for our pets so yes, I think the pricing is worth it. None of them drive big dollar cars or live in fancy houses. Compare a veterinarians salary to an MDs salary. For essentially the same knowledge (just human vs. animal), what you see might surprise you.

Weve been bringing our pup to Capeway for over six years now. Im an extremely overanxious doggy daddy, and Dr. J is incredibly patient with my incessant questions. I have them on speed dial, and I recommend them to any pet owners in the area. My only criticism is that I cant recommend them for grooming services. We used to bring our Schnauzer there regularly, but theyve gone through a number of groomers in the past few years. We were originally very happy with their services (very reasonably priced) but our pup lost his full, distinguished beard -twice- even after we specifically asked them not to trim it. We use the new groomer on Main st. now. As far as their vet services though, top notch. 5 stars.
