After many horrible experiences, I never thought Id be able to trust a hospital (and especially an ER) ever again. But that all changed when I was brought to the Somerville hospital ER with severe abdominal pain (turned out to be appendicitis AND an ovarian cyst). I was on my period at the time and I was so scared they were going to dismiss it as cramps. When I mentioned I had endometriosis, for the first time ever since I was diagnosed the staff knew what I was talking about. And when I would describe my pain they didnt take it lightly, telling me "well since we know you have a high pain tolerance from the endo...." I have always been patronized every time I have been in pain...it was so refreshing to be taken seriously. I am also 23 and look at lot younger and have gotten used to being treated like a child by doctors. Not here. Everything I told then was taken seriously. They answered all my questions. They regularly checked in on me and I felt genuinely cared about. They also put my IV in one try with no poking around or pain despite the fact that I have really difficult veins to find which I was so grateful for because I hate needles. (The last hospital I went to back in my hometown 5 different nurses tried to put in my IV and they eventually put it in my hand....NOT FUN) anyways this place was wonderful.

This is a horrible place. Every time I make an appointment, its with a different doctor who doesnt individulize your care. They refuse to help and make you feel like the biggest piece of garbage. The front desk staff are all rude as hell and completly incompetant. The nurses have no idea where to begin explaining about vaccines and their side effects which is my fundemental right to know exaclty what is in my medicine. The nurse and their aids are extremely unfrofessional, and like to listen in the rooms while tge docor is with their patients. When I was a child, CHA was such a wonderful place but more recently, it conveys a capitolistic facade making you literally just a number and a paycheck. I went to my PCP for stomach and intestinal problems and it wasnt until 7 months later that I finally get to see the GI specialist who was another phony fraud usless liar. He found abosultely nothing wrong, but insisted i continue to see him once month. To me that screams "I want your money." They miss diagnosed my mothers ovarian cancer for 3 years resulting in to become stage 3. They also misdiagnosed another friend of mine who also had cancerous ovarian cycts. Do not go to CHA if you want quality health care.

I officially dropped Somerville Medical Center today as my OBGYN care provider because, after going through an emotional and painful miscarriage, I have been asked by the staff there "When are you due?" and "Do you know how far along you are?" on my last 2 follow-up visits. Obviously, this is a very difficult time for me, and I am not interested in re-hashing it to the staff during every visit!! It would be really beneficial if the staff responsible for my care could actually read my chart before attempting to care for me!!! Im not sure if the staff there is too lazy, stupid, it just simply cant read charts, but Im pretty certain that theyre not going to read this. They seem to take little interest in their patients well-being. But I hope Im saving someone else from the pain and grief I just went through in dealing with this place.

Not a long wait, friendly staff. Once we brought our infant who had pink eye in the middle of the night and they took care of us right away although they were busy. I am not familiar with the whole hospital. ER is the same way everywhere- they cant really diagnose you for complicated issues. If you have a cut, pink eye or something like that weekend or at night this is the place to go. We usually spend maximum an hour, not like the entire night at other area ERs. Plus 24 hr CVS at Porter Sq is a short drive away.

As I was sitting in the ER waiting as two staff members were talking about a battered woman who was very emotional. "Seems like youre getting all the winners tonight!" said a nurse to the other. Two guys from Cataldo said "Ill bet you $10 bucks shell be back here again soon." I couldnt believe they would talk so loudly about other patients in front of patients! Security guard was way more concerned about taking selfies than assisting the woman. Super classy. I would recommend if you are able to go to a different ER.

Called Dermatology to schedule an appointment. I spoke with a women named Keisha. She was not only rude when I first called, when I called her on it, her toned changed. Is this the type of administrators they are hiring? Its horrible. I decided to find a new clinic. When your not feeling well you dont want to deal with others attitude problems. Its doesnt take much to be a bit kind to someone.

You think that people there should be highly professional..... think again Doctors they forget who you are or what your situation is . They forget to get your records ... you have to constantly reminding them of what they need to do .. it is like you are the doctor and they are the patient. I really dont recommend for anyone that needs professional services.

So nice to have an attentive and fast ER in Somerville. I loved my short experience there, which thankfully turned out to be just an inflammation and nothing serious. Everyone was nice and one of the RNs even nerded out with me about Star Wars. They made me feel comfortable, safe and well taken care of.

Somerville Primary Care--A+++ Great staff! Best medical care Ive ever had! Somerville Hospital Campus--a few problems, such as the long uphill climb to the ER--really not so great if youre on foot with an actual medical emergency. Other than that, no problems. Very glad Somerville Hospital is there!

The worst service I have ever seen. Waited for six hours to be told they didnt know anything. Was told to see primary care physician whenever I could. The staff was UNPROFESSIONAL! They were talking about clients loudly in the halls and were extremely inattentive. 1/10 would never recommend.

Best experiences in the ER, outpatient lab, and ambulatory surgery. The care is stellar and the people who work there are the most friendly and compassionate of all the hospital staff Ive met everywhere. I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone.

I dont often write reviews, but this hospital is really the best I have ever experienced. The staff is awesome, they are very careful with follow-up and they take the time to understand what you have. I am sure I forget other things, but...go for it! :)

The staff is good but beware: the $5M new entrance on highland isnt open at night. People walking to the ER have to climb the steep hill to get there!
