Everyone knows that in MA there are good hospitals almost everywhere. I intentionally go out of my way to Winchester Hospital because I believe that they consistently find the right balance between compassionate care and fact-based reasoning. Over the past 3 years, I have visited this hospital many times, primarily regarding the care of my elderly grandmother. Over time I have observed common characteristics about my interactions with the staff which I believe to be the reasons why I consistently receive top quality care. 1. Efficient communication between staff and with the family 2. Proactive problem solving, when there is a breakdown in communication or when something unexpected happens 3. Acknowledgment, compassion, and respect for the patient and family members 4. Attention to detail I believe that all members of the WH staff (everyone from the café workers to the doctors) actively work within the system to deliver the absolute best care possible. If I could stand on a roof top and shout out loud how much I love Winchester Hospital I would do that. I may still do that, but I doubt anyone will hear me. : ) - I guess this is the next best thing. Do not visit the ER here at all cost. Horrible staffing. The nurse was condescending the whole time, got annoyed because my friends keep calling her to help me out. She took one hour to bring me a cup of ginger ale that ended up making me feel even worse. I pretty much paid the ER bill to get one pill and lie down in pain for 4 hours with no care. Moreover, they got my insurance information wrong, so I called up to fix the issue. The person on the phone got aggressive, only because I was asking "too many" questions. Im sorry to make you do your job. My ER discharge note says that theyre suppose to send/call me a survey, but I still havent gotten it. I guess this is why you never improve.

My doctor sent me to Winchester Hospital ER yesterday for abdominal pain and fever. It took about 2 hours to get pass triad and then was told to lying on the hallway and waited for another hour before I was transferred into a room. I waited for another hour before I was seen by a doctor for 5 minutes and then he sent me to ultrasound. Once that was done I was left in the hallway for 3 hours without being acknowledge. My pain was unbearable and despite multiple complaints they didnt address nor offer even some Tylenol. The nurse that was assigned to my care never came. I was extremely frustrated to the point that I walk out. This place doesnt treat patient right.

I got a large and deep laceration on my right hand in between the four and fifth digit. I was triaged by the ER nurse and was told that stitches needed. I was sent back to waiting area and waited 3hours. By 10pm When I was asking the staff how long I had to wait, I was told they did not know how long, also one more person was still before me. My hand hurts a lot. I left ER without being treated. My suggestion is there should be a way to treat minor emergencies. It looks like patients with minor emergencies are being neglected

My fiancé was in there about 2 months ago for chest pains he was brought in by ambulance. He wasnt even seen by a doctor immediately. Instead they put him back into the et waiting room. Where he waited for almost an hour to be seen by a doctor. Completely blew my mind that someone with chest pains wasnt seen by a doctor immediately. I hate going to this er nurses are hit or miss here :( Not like INOVA hospitals. Great care at those hospitals 100% of the time.

The staff are ok, my wife says she was treated with apathy and general ambivalence. WORST billing department I have ever talked to who dont seem to care if you are a human. They dont have any financial assistance or payment plans. So its the full amount in 4 months or they send you to a credit collector. They are the ONLY place I know in NJ, NY, IA, and MA that do that. Do your self a favor and if you have a choice of hospital go someplace else.

I have had two children there, will have my third there in Jan and will only go to the Winchester ER. I have moved 30 minutes away and I still will drive so that all of our care is done at Winchester Hospital. The staff is amazing, the hospital is clean and everyone is so helpful!!!

My wife and I had our first child here recently. The nurses could not have been more friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our son was premature, but the staff was able to get a frightening situation under control. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

The staff and the doctors are super friendly. I had to stay at night with my 5 years old son during the storm.. And the staff helped me a lot they tried to contact taxis and my son had a warm blanket. Not to mention, they have kids area.

Well yesterday was a hard day seeing mom taken by ambulance to here but once inside just the best care money could buy :) Thanks everyone! Hope they can get to the bottom of Moms infection soon so she can come back home.

ER nurses are uncompassionate and rude. Other staff witness it and will over compensate with extra kindness; but act as though they will make bitchy nurses mad if they get caught. Thats just wrong.

The nurse with specs is the worst person Ive ever met. No empathy at all. Told me to shut up when I was crying in pain and I was in ER at that time because of kidney stone pain
