Thank you for the refund - This review contains facts with no exaggeration on my part. It also will explain the reason for being refunded my charges without my asking. It is meant to let others know what to expect when they make an appointment at Bayview Optical in Livonia, MI. The positive reviews here can only be explained by one person, Lori. She keeps this office going. I’ve been to this office a number of times, but only recently for myself. We will not be going back. The issues at this office are not from just one bad day, but a chronic series of failures. Dr. Gerald Blaize is an Optometrist who started in 1991, but has noticeably grown apathetic and tired. Having been here before, it is clear to see that this doctor checked out long ago. He is tired and bored. He has become complacent, apathetic and appears to be suffering miserably with the thought of having to ask the same eye exam questions over and over again for the past 26 years. He looks lost as he sleepily stands at the counter waiting to hear what he is to do next. As we sat in the lobby we could overhear him being told that he is WRONG, and he has the WRONG INFORMATION and had the WRONG patient, had the WRONG chart, and that they overbooked and asked if they should accept the patients. It was chaotic. Upon meeting him he did not greet me with a hello or an introduction. He didn’t smile or discuss my history at all. When he did speak, I noticed the things he was saying did not pertain to me and told him. Apparently he had mistaken me for another patient. I informed him that I had never had eyeglasses before, yet he never explained any of the tests or procedures to me. He didn’t explain what tests he was taking. He didn’t explain why he was putting drops into my eyes. He didn’t explain A SINGLE THING. However, he did say that I had a cataract in one of my eyes. He was wrong! I went to an Ophthalmologist at U of M a week later and was told “Positively NO sign of cataracts in either eye.” Another issue was the girl who took my blood pressure. I am a retired ER nurse. Simply put, the girl who took my blood pressure was preoccupied with someone outside the door and never inflated the cuff past 90mmHg and could not have received an accurate read. Yet, when I asked her the results, she said, “Your blood pressure is 125 over 70.” Really? Not possible. In addition, we heard the patient who followed me as he came out of the room from getting “his” pressure checked say, “Wow. My blood pressure hasn’t been this low in 10 years.” This could be risky folks. Finally, when I went to get measured for glasses, the girl assigned the job did not understand eyeglass measurements and had to ask Lori to finish for her. I am sorry to have to write such a negative review. However, past visits here have proven that this is the status quo for this office. Lori does the job of three people. She runs everything in the office and scrambles to keep it all together. Wake up Dr. Blaize! She is why these reviews are positive. Unfortunately, she cannot replace all the haphazard employees and the main player here, the doctor; who checked out long ago and can no longer be relied upon for friendly or accurate service. You may want to find another location for glasses. However, should you decide to go to this office after reading this review, you’ll see for yourself that everything I have said here, is true. Good luck.

I originally came across the office of Bayview Optical and Dr.Blaize several years ago just by chance. The office was very close to my residence and accepted my insurance.Never having to wear prescription glasses until the aging process kicked in,I was unfamiliar to the whole process.WELL,LET ME TELL YOU,I HIT THE JACKPOT ON THIS ONE! The atmosphere of the office is relaxed and easy going. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and courteous of your presence there. Dr.Blaize is soft spoken, friendly, and professional. . He is very knowledgeable, informative, and will answer all questions or concerns. He is very thorough and you never feel like he is rushing you along. Laurie Morris is wonderful. She is professional, warm, and extremely helpful. She is also very informative, and will answer any questions you may have. When picking out frames, she is AWESOME!! She will give her honest opinion, and in my case,so will Dr.Blaize and other staff members if asked. The frame selection is considerable, and its not the fact its difficult to find something you like,it is quite the opposite. Laurie will offer views to consider to help narrow down from so many positive choices. WHO KNEW GETTING GLASSES COULD BE SO FUN!!! I had glasses, contacts and purchased sunglasses from this office. Every visit has been smooth and actually relaxing. You never feel rushed or ignored. Nothing to dread about going to Dr.Blaize and this office. It is like visiting with friends. I have recommended Bayview Optical to many people. I have had many compliments on my glasses, and never hesitated to recommend Bayview Optical. Dr.Blaize and Laurie have taken great care of many of my family members.A couple years ago,my mother who is 84,had double by pass, valve replacement surgery after suffering a stroke and heart attack. Her health following surgery was not what we had hoped. I quit my job and moved back home to care for her. Leaving my place of employment, left me without any type of health insurance. A few months back,I lost the glasses I had with no financial means to replace them. Squinting and trying to use readers to get by,got me thru the day.Recently, my daughter went in for her exam with Dr. Blaize. Laurie asked her how I was doing, and my daughter told her my situation. Laurie told her to have me call her.A few days later I stopped in the office. Laurie had told Dr.Blaize of my situation, and they took me thru all the steps, putting me in a new pair of glasses!!! I was overwhelmed. It doesnt get any better then that. The kindness of Dr.Blaize and Laurie renews my faith in the human race. Bayview Optical in Livonia is ONE CLASS ACT!!!!!!!! Lynn

I recently moved to Indianapolis because my son is deaf and they have a really good school here for him. It was an easy decision to make because I know it is what’s best for him. But I knew the process of moving and making it on my own was going to be a struggle. The day before we began our move I was surprised with a party/benefit for my son and the person who came up with this idea was Laurie. The point of the party wasn’t just to help me out financially but it was also to show me how many people love and care about us. I realized how many people are behind me supporting this decision and willing to help in whatever way they can. I was really touched that someone cares that much about me to do something like this for me. Not only did I have Laurie to thank for that but there were also several pairs of sunglasses donated from Bayview Optical for a raffle. I was really overwhelmed with all the emotions I was feeling, the fact that someone was willing to do something so thoughtful really touched my heart. There arent too many people and places that do things like this out of the kindness of their heart. She didn’t have to go out of her way, but she did because she cares and that is the type of person she is. It just goes to show what kind of employees Bayview Optical has. I will never forget that day, and I will always appreciate what Bayview Optical did.
