Recently went to get my annual eye checkup done. Overall the staff is friendly. However, I have several complaints about the eye doctor Barry Bell who performed the final examination. First of all, that was the fastest visual acuity test I have ever had due to his impatience. He was rushing to figure out what my prescription was by flipping through different combinations of lenses without confirming with me whether the results were the best. (After dilation, my eyes were very sensitive to lights and everything looked blurry. It took me a bit longer to give him response. He just kept pushing me to “give him something.” Sorry, I am an automotive engineer that I don’t do these tests on a daily basis!). As a result, I was not sure whether I could use his prescription at all! He also mentioned that there is corneal distortion of my left eye. Of course, I felt nervous about it since no one has mentioned to me about that during my previous exams. I was asking whether it’s serious and what could have caused that, etc. He goes, in a very indifferent tone, and I quote: “I don’t know how it happens. It could be anything, like rubbing your eyes too often or something else. I don’t know.” I was trying to ask another question and he just interrupted me, saying “hang on a second.” and continued to rush through his report. I was expecting he could give me a bit more explanation afterwards since I had no clue what I should do to prevent it from getting worse, but that never happened. In the end, I received a report from him, so general that basically can be used for any patients that need astigmatism contact lenses. Confusingly, the report contains no information about the distortion at all. Instead, it says I was diagnosed of corneal degeneration, band Keratopathy, which is caused by calcium deposit (apparently not by “rubbing my eye”!). I had to google it to understand what it means and what I should do about it. Isn’t helping a patient to understand a sickness the doctor’s job??? By the way, the report does not even come with my new prescription! I later ended up going to the Henry Ford Hospital at West Bloomfield to pick up some glasses since I could not find anything I like at the smaller Farmington Hills location. The service in West Bloomfield is much better, I found a frame that I really like and they were able to deliver the glasses with the prescription I got from FH the next day. However, when I first tried them on, I felt dizzy and sick. I expressed my concern to them and they were able to arrange another eye exam with me right away free of charge including contact lens fitting. It turned out that my prescription was completely messed up by the FH office: from FH office: Right: Sphere(-1.75) Cyl (-0.75) Axis(155); Left: Sphere(-0.50) Cyl (-1.25) Axis(50); from WB office: Right: Sphere(-1.50) Cyl (-1.00) Axis(120); Left: Sphere(-1.00) Cyl (-1.25) Axis(45); Both are within Henry Ford’s system, but the service and professionalism are day and night different. Go to the one at West Bloomfield and ask for Dr. Schmidt. Stay away from the one at Farmington Hills and Dr. Bell.

I had a worst experience of visiting Optimeyes...i went for a eye checkup and while examining they told it seems to be a medical problem...as a patient i am not aware of the difference of medical or eye problem... while coming out i have been charged the full amount instead of the copay stating that as a medical issue...though they havent done any medical treatment in a eye facility and done only the eye check up ...i dont know why they are billing in a absurd way like this...after having insurance and in a Network hospital , forcing the patient to pay the full amount by coding in a wrong way is in a way of CHEATING the patient..

I thought I had written a review for this place already! When I went to this location, I had to bring my almost 2-year old at the time. The optometrist that saw me was wonderful. My son was being difficult, and she gave him some M&Ms, and let him sit on my lap while she was checking my eyes. She was just very patient, and very kind. And everyone working the front was just as friendly. Not to mention I ordered my glasses that day, and they arrived 3 days later. Wishing I didnt move out of the area, because this was the best eye place I have ever been to.

I am a difficult optical customer. Because of what I do for a living (professional musician) I place great demands on my eyes. I expect to be able to see well all the time, but especially when Im working. Dr. Bell and the entire staff at Optimeyes were very helpful, and patient as I returned again and again to tweak my prescription so that I could function the way I want to. I highly recommend this location.

I felt rushed through my exam and I feel like my new prescription isnt the best. I was also pushed to go see a specialist for glaucoma, which so was my girlfriend and when she went it ended up costing her $800+ due to them lying about insurance covering the cost. The staff was very nice however and fitting and finding the right glasses was a good experience.

The good news is optimeyes is friendly and prompt. If your appointment is at 3:00 youll see a doctor at 3:00. But on the flip side, they dont have time to explain things if you dont get it the first time around. Par for the course for Henry Ford.

Whenever I go to get my eyes checked, they have great costumer service, good eye exams, and a great choice of frames. Just a bit too expensive. I would defiantly recommend choosing Optim Eyes for checking your eyes!
