I/We have been part of the "family" here for sometime.I am going to speak from my heart, Dr. Eric was/is our "Guardian Angel". I have had pretty much most of the vets/techs/receptionists help us on our visits throughout our time here. They have treated myself/family/ and most of all my "babies" always with compassion. No matter if they were there for wellness checks or due to not feeling well to saving a life!! Short version is my fairly small. inquizative(?) rat terrier had stirred up some trouble. He decided to "play" doctor and go on a scavenger hunt. He tracked down medication wrappers in a trash and thought "yummy"--NOT. He was under a year and it didnt take to much to tucker himself and sister out. They slept on our bed and I happened to notice he wasnt acting like himself. Whimpering, moaning and lathargic. I was checking him out and he stopped breathing. Was I really seeing this. I shook, rubbed, yelled at him and he would slowly come back, but still he was dying in my arms. Called.rushed him, they took him, it did not look good. I left him in Dr.Erics care. Because he had been poisoned pretty bad, it was going to take a miracle. Well, Dr. Eric (&staff) saved my puppy. He cared enough to look over him, keeping watch and monitoring him through the night. Well, I dont have to tell you we really expected wed be saying our goodbyes--we are so glad for his quick thinking and emense care and concern doing what hes good at saved my puppy. We liked him before and even more after!. I dont know why you all received the treatment you say you had (maybe its an individual interpretation) I have been going to Northside when Dr. Tom and other vets cared for my roughly 10 dogs through the years onto now Dr. Eric, I have liked them all. I hope when Dr. Tom sold to Dr. Eric he did so with the confidence in him to care for his animal/human patients. Would he sell his reputation he had built with such a good clinic to someone he thought was how you have described? NOT the Dr. Tom I went to.Well, we have to look out for our little friends and do what we think is best, I feel we are with the best and you have moved on, good luck to your wonderful pets, mine are being cared for by our "Guardian Angel".PS The Staff have always been receptive in their behaviors with us as well as conversing with our pets and as far as the DR. standing at the METAL table on the back side to do his exam, ? where did you want him to stand? Shouldnt he be asking questions? We have different sized puppy/dogs that we cant put the "BIG" ones up there, he has to get down on the floor to their level. He has always tried to comfort them, talking soft, moving as not to scare or upset them/or me. How bizaar the differences. His final comment upon leaving our appointment has always been, "Please, call me (tomorrow, #days, if there is a problem or concern) and let me know how their doing--hes always said this. Last but not least Im thankful we got the Dr.Jekyll and not Mr. Hyde :)LOLCody,Riley,Sadie, Bella, Sydney&Joey-woof woof/hugs and licks.......

After almost two decades of being here I am trying to find a new vet. The service and compassion here is nonexistent, this office has turned into nothing more than a profitable business that doesn’t care about you or your animals. Currently I have two dogs with them , for the past 12 years. Exams consist of the doctor standing behind the metal table and looking at your dog asking questions. No compassion, no interaction, no enjoyment of their job what so ever. I had a botched surgery, that had to be redone, which of course I had to pay for twice. The on call vet never returned my phone call after being paged, the on call vet did in fact receive the page according to their answering service, but they chose not to return the call, forcing me to go to the emergency vet in Grand Rapids for six hundred dollars. My dog currently has cancer and I received someone else’s bill. When I dropped the dog off for her biopsy I was yelled at for not being there in the morning, the doctor said to come at 11, miscommunication but I got yelled at and told they weren’t sure they could get her in now. This is not a place you want to go if you care about your dogs as I do, they don’t care about animals here all they care about is how much they are going to charge you. I tried to leave three years ago but the nice young girl that works the front convinced me to give him one more try, but didn’t blame me if I left and said allot of the old customers have left already. I should have run then. I love my dogs and expect the best quality care I can get for them, that is not what I received here. The sheer lack caring here is appalling it is a very cold place in the way you and your pet are treated. I certainly cannot recommend anyone take their pets here, at least not to the younger Doctor Eric Peterson.

After over twelve years of going to this place, I am noticing more and more of a profit focused staff. After hearing all horror the stories from my family and friends, I did not noticed any poor care to my two dogs UNTIL after a few of the older veterinarians quit working for Northside. Even the front desk staff is vague and inexperienced. I am tired of dealing with all their problems and poor professionalism, they have proven their low standards more and more with each appointment. Most of the friends that I use to know who took their pets here are no longer doing so. As my dogs and I usually wait for their appointments, I watched the staff provide wrong bills for pet owners, confusing the weight of several pets in the room and worst of all, the lack of confident in examinations. The Northside veterinarian does not even take interest when examining pets. Do not expect the veterinarian to touch or even listen to your pets heart beat or even listen to your concerns, it clearly shows that they really hate their jobs. All you have to do is sit in the waiting room for a few minutes, youll see. This clinic has set a perfect example of profiting from quantity vs. quality. I am sorry to say this but after over twelve years, I am not only walking away from Northside Veterinarian but RUNING away along with many former clients before I regret it. If you or someone you know has had bad unprofessional experience, I recommend you to report it to the Veterinary Board. Do your research and avoid problems, if you are not expecting a lot of care for your pet then this is the place for you. Check out their other reviews on superpages, they have even tried covering up the information by creating a new listing, but all thier listings have the same experiences from former clients.

Dr. Peterson saved my dog. She had fluid in her lungs and was experiencing seizure-like episodes. I walked right in because she could not breathe. He took immediate action, gave her meds and over the night we were afraid she wouldnt make it but the medication worked. In 2 days she is basically back to being my normal dog! Given she will have to be on these meds for the rest of her life, I am beyond grateful that he was able to see her right away! The staff is more than friendly, I have been coming here for years. I highly recommend this clinic. Beth Ann Townsend is also an amazing vet! As she also sees my dogs and is a family friend. They have emergency services after hours for patients who regularly go here which is super nice.
