I would first like to say that I and my children have been going to the Troy location (6535 Rochester Road) for about 8 years under the care of Dr. Kane. This review is not a reflection of the care received while under Dr. Kane’s care during that time period. She was courteous, compassionate, and understood the importance of making her patients feel relaxed and comfortable about the procedures being done. She always took her time and I never had any issues under her care. This review is for the Troy office location under the care of Dr. Shawn Nguyen. I work in healthcare and am very familiar with patient care and compassion. Regular cleanings with Dr. Nguyen may be fine for someone, however, when the issue is more than a basic exam or cleaning it seems that Dr. Nguyen falls very short on his level of professionalism, compassion, and empathy. Emergencies do happen and I would not want to have him as a dentist when a real dental problem existed as my experience was horrible. - My first experience under his care I was going in to have my right upper side looked at as I was experiencing pain. I want to say that I did not even know Dr. Kane had left at this time and was never notified or told when I made the appointment. I had a filling done and was told that this may solve the pain I was having and to come back in a couple weeks. - When I came back in it was on a Friday and I was in a severe amount of pain. Dr. Nguyen numbed me on both sides and then decides to take x-rays??? After the x-rays and being numbed on both sides he said he was not going to do anything today and wanted to refer me to a specialist because he thought I may need a root canal. At this time I was frustrated after already waiting two weeks and being sent away in pain the previous visit. - Additionally the numbing was so intense that I could barely talk and my face drooped – I never had that experience before and mentioned it and received a reply that a lot of his patients (DR. Kane’s old patients) were mentioning that. Basically, I took time off work to get numbed for the rest of my Friday – be sent home in pain until I could arrange to see the specialist. When I expressed that I was frustrated there was NO COMPASSION or EMPATHY from Dr. Nguyen and he just left the room and said nothing – how UNPROFESSIONAL.

Im not one to write nasty reviews online but given the bad experiences Ive had with this dentist I feel it is important to do so. Since I have been to this office I have had to return three times to correct work that was done incorrectly and still have major problems with the work that was done but will not be returning a fourth time to try and fix this. They were not able to correct the pain I was having from the cavity that I had done there (there was no pain previous to having the work done) so Im not able to eat hard foods using the left hand side of my mouth. I was told after having paid for an additional x-ray of the tooth, that everything looked fine and that the bite was good so there was nothing further that could be done. The tooth that I had bonded there (three times for it to stay in) is now turning discolored and small parts of the bonding are coming off. Worse yet I was made to feel as though all the problems I was having were my fault and there was nothing further they could do to fix these. I firmly believe that no one should trust their mouth to this dentist.

If I could give this review Zero stars I would. I took my two children here in 8/15. The company did not copy my insurance properly and the tried to bill me. each time I received a bill I would call and politely give them the insurance information again. I did this approximately four times.I just received a collection letter about these visits. never once did this company bother to call me back to explain if the insurance was tried down which it shouldnt have been. just a routine cleaning. I also never heard anything fro the insurance company about the claim being rejected. This is completely due to there inability to bill the insurance company properly. I have had nothing but attitude when I did talk to the staff about this. When I was at the office I had an extremely long wait and I was on time. This time in person the staff seemed to be rude. save yourself the headache and find a different dental practice. oh and save the $265.00 per child visit since they cant bother to bill the insurance company properly.

Ive been a patient of Dr. Kangs for a few years and every time I go there for dental services, I leave a happy customer. Dr. Kang is brilliant, kind, and very welcoming. She knows teeth, that is for sure. She has a great sense of humor and wont scold me when I *proudly* inform her and the rest of the staff that I just ate a bag of skittles and a snickers bar before coming for my cleaning. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and their technology is top notch. Whether you need a crown or just a set of x-rays, Dr. Kang and her staff know what theyre doing. They inform you of the service they need to perform before performing it and give you the cost up front so youre not shocked with a large bill. I highly recommend Dr. Kang and her staff to anyone potentially considering attending the Troy Great Expressions dental center.

I stopped going here simply because i had to wait every time for 45 min to an hour to be seen. Whats worse, i paid for a root canal and less then 30 days the permanent crown broke off in my mouth. When i went back to have it fixed they had the audacity to charge me for an emergency visit. I talked to Dr. Khan and she agreed that i shouldnt be charged and they will take care of it, but i kept receiving bills. I would call and leave messages but no one would call me back, i decided to call from a different number and they answered! I eventually just paid the bill because i could not get any assistance. I will never go here again.

The Hygenist here, Theresa, was honestly the best Ive ever had. This was my first visit to Great Expressions since Im new to the area. So happy with my decision to try this one! They were all so friendly and helpful. Didnt make me feel guilty for not taking care of my teeth as well as I should be. They were upfront about the costs, and even calculated an estimate of what I can expect to pay at my next visit! The Dentist, Dr. Lindsey, was very nice too. Young, but I think she knows what shes doing! Overall, very pleased with this office. Will definitely keep them.

First time writer in public. I dont know how other reviews have a such good impression of Dr. Murphy and her technicians (they are not true faces !!!)... They are rude, especially Dr.Murphy very b!#% unprofessional attitude, I feel sorry for those kind of people who wasted themselves in such education. I wont go to detail, all I want to say this DR. threaten on my face with lie. Its BAD NEWS for your dental health, when you have to deal with such people. You better stay out of that place for your own sake !!!!!!!!
