Im not happy that I had to become a complete jerk just to get help for my dog: My wife and I brought our dog in after she threw up and started urinating blood, as well as refused to eat, drink, or even move. After waiting a half hour before even speaking with a tech, another 15 to see the doctor and before any treatment was given, they wanted us to pay 456.00 for treatment, or a bare minimum of 88.00 just for them to listen to our dogs heart rate and literally nothing else and no treatment. They didnt offer any solutions and would not take payments, work with us the least bit, and despite my wife and I offering them all of our information and getting paid that night, they would do nothing to even stabalize our dog. All they told us was to "go to a Vet tomorrow" (since it was a Sunday). We werent rude to them at this point, until the tech became defensive and tried to insult our intelligence, at this point the lack of professionalism became apparent. Bad service, or more, lack thereof, and overcharging on everything. In fact, a woman came out as we were leaving and was complaining about how high priced it was, we thought she was crabby and ignored it, but I get it now. This place has its priorities mixed up, money before patients, a terrible business model. I had to become rude and go on the offensive just for them to speak to a manager, instead of them just going to that in the first place. Finally they rectified some of the lack of responsibility and actually treated our dog, but only after complaining for 10 minutes at the front desk. To say the least, Im not impressed, especially since we were the only people there, and it took over an hour and a half just to get things going. I get that they have people that dont pay the lump sum, however thats why there are options for payment plans in other successful businesses who are willing to work with you right away, as opposed to treating a veteran and his family like they mean nothing just because they dont have a near 500.00 to pay in one lump sum. It turns out they do "repayment" plans, but you have to get into a huff just to get it, which is the unfortunate part... This would be a 5 star review if they wouldve offered that plan to begin with, because when we finally did get our dog treated, they did a great job.

I am so very pleased with the service, price, convenience, and extremely friendly staff at BluePearl! We got home tonight after a family BBQ to find our two year old frenchie bleeding from the rectum. Anyone who loves their pet can imagine the horror of coming home to a bleeding animal. So my children and I frantically searched the web for a 24 hour ER vet. Google provided us with one--BluePearl. I called, described our situation, and was advised to bring our pup right in. After glancing at the reviews Ill admit that I was nervous, but with it being a holiday weekend (Memorial Day) we really had no choice. However, let me just say--expectations fully met and exceeded! Some of the previous reviews absolutely do not describe the facility or staff that greeted us tonight. Upon arrival (our travel time from near Liberty was about 13 minutes) we had the option to park right up front in the "patient parking." We went in to a friendly front desk lady that showed us right into an exam room. We were in the room for about 15-20 minutes and then a vet tech came in to assess our boy. She was very sweet to him and gentle. It was about another 5-7 minutes waiting on the doctor. Our veterinarian was Dr. Katy B. She took one look at our frenchie and told me he had an anal gland abscess. She proceeded to explain the treatment and went to get an estimate of cost. Came back in a few minutes with all the details. Dr. Katy scooped up our boy and headed back to the treatment area. She told us to call her in an hour. I got a call about three minutes prior to the hour mark saying he was all fixed up and ready to go. We had a minimal wait to get our boy, but in the meantime Dr. Katy came out to tell us everything went well. Then our vet tech came out, went over meds, and chatted with us for a bit. She even gave us some extra puppy pads for his drainage issue. Then she brought our pup out so we could take him home! Overall, this is EXACTLY the type of facility and staff I would appreciate in an emergency situation. Our guy didnt have too serious a condition, thankfully. But if ever in the future he does this is where we will go. Sincerest thank you Dr. Katy, staff, and BluePearl! --The Wade Family

I feel I must respond after reading the negative reviews on here. My comments are for the establishment on 91st St, Kansas City, MO. Although it is still very difficult to speak about the loss of our beloved Lab, Lucy, I know she would want us to defend some of these negative comments. Apparently those saying Blue Pearl is all about the money, have Vets that dont charge fees for their services and also have some sort of special abilities or a crystal ball whereby they can diagnose a pet instantly even though they have never met the pet before and have no records or data on file. We love our Vet, but quite frankly even though we were a long time customer of 16 years, when we called them early on Saturday morning needing an emergency appointment, they turned us away since they close at noon & already booked. We have invested many dollars to keep our pet happy and healthy, with that Vet. In the end however, it was Blue Pearl that offered to take care of us in the best way they could. With kindness, caring, understanding and sympathy. They did not encourage us one way or the other about Lucys health decisions. They did share their expertise based on what they could see and on what we told them about her and stated the options along with the costs for those options. Once we made a decision, they proceeded to support us and make letting her go as peaceful as possible. We highly recommend this clinic and their staff. Not sure how any business could stay in business without charging for their services, especially one that is there for us 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

We have utilized BP several times. All three of my dogs(different breeds) have visited once or twice! When my GSD was 2 years old, he had an emergency procedure for an intestinal condition that couldve killed him in a short period. They diagnosed quickly, and performed surgery to repair the issue. He is now 4 1/2 years, and hasnt had any problems since the operation. My boarder collie doesnt make wise choices, and has visited a couple of times. She has never required surgery(surprisingly). The medical staff at BP didnt do anything that wasnt required. They gave her some meds, and sent her home to rest. When my 16 year old Maltese passed, last Labor Day weekend, my husband took her there. They sent a hand-written card, paw print, and were super supportive. They made it easy for her bodys transition to Rolling Acres as well. I believe the special measures they take when an animal passes, are super-meaningful in such a difficult time. For the people who complain about costs; Specialists work at this hospital. Doctors who are at the top of their game. They wouldnt be this far, if they were incapable of doing so. They deserve to be more expensive, which requires a business to have higher overhead. I dont have a problem paying extra for their services. As an advocate for my animals, it gives me a piece of mind knowing my dogs are in great hands. Special hands. SO thank you friends at BP. Thank you for sucking my pocket book dry to save the lives of my furry family members. NOTE TO SELF: When my kids go off to college, Ill be purchasing a hermit crab(to stay within budget).
