Im very conflicted with this review, while I feel like everyone was very nice and did explain everything to me; but I cant shake the feeling that something is not right. I recently adopted/took possession of a 13 year old pit bull. Besides being a little "moley" and missing some teeth she is overall very happy and spry. About a week ago she began coughing, hacking and throwing up consistently. She still remained happy and eating so we let it run its course. Three days ago explosive bowels movements occurred and I was so very worried. I called them Monday and they were able to get me in right away, on Tuesday. Thanks to Yelp I even had a free nail trim. Office staff was super nice, vet tech very friendly and the vet herself was very nice. My appointment was 3:45 and I didnt see the vet till 4:30. There was one other patient family when I got there getting ready to be dismissed. They worked out a treatment plan and presented it. Including X-rays and blood work it came to almost 700! Not a "heres what we recommend to start with" just "take it all". I opted in for bloodwork, heartworm test and medicine estimate of $100 that brought it to a total of around $350 to start with. Being very concerned about her, especially with stool rating at a 7 and filled with blood I took action. Approximately 20-25 minutes later I was told that everything looked good. They were going to prescribe some antibiotics, probiotics and a special diet. The total came to $464. I was very much in shell shock and of course I paid it. To further complicate the process I lost my debit card and had to use my sons trust account card and just felt very frazzled. When I asked why it changed so much from the estimate I was told it was the Clavamox totaling in at $110 itself! Why the vet said possibly amoxicillin and then switched to the more expense class of antibiotics, I wouldnt know. I was told really nothing to what they thought the reason for her bloody diarrhea or cough was, but to come back if this doesnt work. Yeah dont think I will be doing that. Very disappointed overall, just in the end of the process.I left there at 5:19pm. Felt like-very here you go, pay it. I also overheard the vet say to the tech in the back "you see that diploma thats mine and not yours". I dont know if that pertained to another story, animal or to the tech questioning her but that just bothered me. I usually walk away from my vet office with a good feeling, and I just felt shell shocked, lost as to what happened, lost into what was wrong with my dog and thinking that I need to find her another vet. I didnt really push and I think thats what went wrong. In relation to what they charged for blood work , I found later, is almost twice the amount of others vets in the area. Why she choose a $110 antibiotic instead of a less expensive one, I dont know. My dog is still hacking, but it was the first night without diarrhea.... so as I said before I am very conflicted. Although I do doubt that one dose of medicine fixed her overnight, more like whatever it was has passed. I definitely would not recommend without warning to ask LOTS of questions. I can say that I personally would not go back. I feel a little preyed on honestly.

If you dont have a lot of money and your small dog has been in labor for 8 hours and nothing has happened yet, dont expect much help besides them telling you your dog is gonna die. Dont worry she didnt die and all her dogs were born just find. Thanks for all the help! Oh and thanks for just thinking I didnt care about my dog. I rescued her from people that kept getting her pregnant and continued to beat her daily and kick her in the stomach over and over again and throw her at the wall and the rare time theyd let her out of her cage theyd make sure if she even moved her life would be hell. So thanks for letting me know a responsible pet owner gets their dog fixed after insisting she was going to die and I couldnt make payments. Shes safe now and as soon as she had the puppies I brought her in that you said were gonna die, I got her fixed. Im glad you guys were generally concerned about the animal I saved and was trying to make sure she didnt die. Thanks for all the help.

So wonderful with my cat! My cat is quite heavy and needs to lose weight. Ive been actively working with him for months now with the help of Fairgrounds Animal Hospital. The first Vet I took him to at a completely different clinic barely examined him and then told me I should be charged with animal abuse. I was already so worried about my kitty that this almost broke me. The staff at Fairgrounds have been wonderful. They performed an extremely thorough exam and ran a complete series of blood tests. I was so relieved to find out my boy is in such excellent health despite his weight. I thank Fairgrounds Animal Hospital for kindly and compassionately caring for my cat and for not judging me in the process.

I was in need of a veternarian doctor and was not fimilar with the Reno, NV area. I called several places, but Jenny at Fairgrounds Animal Hospital sold me from the moment I called in to inquire. Her genuin care, kindness and professionalism was the reason I made my decision to choose their office. From Jenny at the front desk the wonderful doctor and all the staff, I can honestly say I have never been more impressed. You can tell that they are a happy staff and enjoy what they do, in fact, one of the staff said how much they loved working there!!! They all provided great service, comfort and care for me and my baby Rocky. Thank you guys for everything.

My poor 10 year old Chipoodle who is overweight fell off the table when the groomer walked away and had left the leash too long! ( I will never go near that place again and filed charges! ) . Anyway, I drove straight to the office and without having an appointment or having ever been there before they took us in immediately! All the blood vessels in my babys eyes had burst and were dripping blood! They gave her a shot that reduced the swelling and kept us until they were sure the bleeding had stopped. Heres the amazing part! Dr. Cox charged us only regular check up fees and the medication! NO emergency charge!

We have been taking our animals to Fairgrounds Animal Hospital for over 20 years and have always had a great experience! Dr. Andrus and Dr. Johnson are amazing vets, so caring and compassionate. They have been there for us through some very tough times. We feel they truly care about our animals. They are fair priced and flexible and you never feel rushed, like youre just another number. Two of our dogs are unsocialized and fearful, but Dr. Andrus has a gentle way of putting them at ease. I would highly recommend this place to anyone whos looking for a new vet or thinking of changing vets.

They are friendly but it seems like all they want is money we took our 2 month old kitten in because shes latharhic and has trouble walking and they wanted almost 400$ to do all these tests and try mess they think might work sorry but Im not buying my kitten mess when your dont even know whats wrong with her...When my house burnt down 6 yrs ago in feb. they were genuine and caring about our animals let us make payments and everything its just not the same anymore
