I rescue old dogs and cats i used blairstown vets for 11 yrs. I recently brought in my yorki 8 yrs old acting lethargic. They found his spleen was bleeding internally possible cancer emergency surgery to remove spleen. They called me at 5 pm to take him home because they close at 8pm. I was nervous to take him home post op so i called newton hosp 24 hr service they would accept him for the night. I told blairstown i wanted him to go to newton they told me ok come get him. When i got there they handed me my baby still intubated (tube for breathing) i was beside myself crying i took him in my car alone they let me drive alone sobbing with my poor baby who died in the car on the way to newton. I was driving like a crazy person almost got into accident while giving my baby rescue breaths. I cannot believe they didnt transfer him with medical help! i would pay anything to keep my baby safe. I blame myself for not insisting they transfer him with medical assistance. The guilt i have is overwhelming but i trusted the docs who released him to me. I would never go back to them they do not see the animals as our family! They should never do surgery if they can not recover the patient!! I would never trust them again ever!

It didnt matter what we went in for, there was always some pitch for one of our animals to get something done that was unnecessary and overpriced. For our dog we went in for an intestinal issue and we were suggested to get surgery for her floating knees. For our cat we were told we needed to get a $500 biopsy to figure out his skin condition. Our cat was only looked at a total of 2 minutes by this facility and when the steroids they suggested didnt solve the problem, we were told biopsy was the only option. Turns out, after going to a much more reasonable vet (the Animal Mansion) that spent over 20 minutes examining our cat, it is a textbook case of ringworm! The fungal test cost us 35$! Very frustrated that this option wasnt offered here. We could have gotten our little guy healed up by now. Were happy our new vet figured it out, but frustrated that one lesion has grown into 8 around his whole face because we went to the wrong vet first.

Choosing a veterinarian for a pet usually comes down to a recommendation. After our last lab died, we were left with our Bearded Dragon as our only pet and werent sure we wanted more. Six months later we had a new puppy and a friend recommended we try Blairstown Animal Hospital because he said they knew what they were doing and he found their fees to be less than he had been paying for the same services in Morris County. He was right on all accounts and so far we are very pleased we brought our new puppy to them.

Was told our cat had to fast before his haircut. No food since previous midnight & no water. Took him in @ 9a.m. as requested. Filled out pre-auth for shots. Recvd call @ 2p.m. he needs to be sedated--too wiggly to be trimmed. At 6p.m. no call, so i did. He did not need to be sedated(?) He needs shots, can we do. Why did he need to be there at 9 a.m. & why fasting since previous midnight? Shots were pre-approved. Very disappointing 1st experience.

Absolutely the best vet. I had a canine emergency. Called enroute had a room and my favorite Dr. Summers waiting. Our dog needed 13 stitches I left our dog there with the utmost confidence. I must have called a half-dozen times with questions they answered them with genuine care and compassion. They are the absolute best.

Went last night for an emergency, 8pm on a Monday night. Our dog cut her foot very badly. Very thankful to Dr. Lovel, Amanda and the other ladies who stayed later to help us. Without them we would have lost our dog. Highly recommended, very helpful and fast working to help us.

Taking my pet to Blairstown Animal Hospital was the worst mistake Ive ever made. Be careful if your pet is diagnosed with anything at all. Get a second opinion before making any decision based on a hard sell that has no basis in fact.

The staff and doctors are some of the most amazing and caring people ever. They are available for any situation at any time. They have cared for all of my pets for 13 years and I can not say a bad thing about them.

The veterinarians are compassionate and caring. The staff is very friendly. We board our 164lb. American Bulldog a couple of times a year. They are very good with him, despite his occasional attitude.

Great customer care. The staff is fantastic at helping me out when I bring 3 dogs in for wellness checkup. Doctors are always listening/easy to talk to, and provide great recommendations.

They are pretty pricey but in a pinch they are the closest place if I were to have a pet emergency. If you can, def get a second opinion on procedures if you have the option.

The staff are all very compassionate and informative. They took such good care of our LuLu and I will only take my animals to BAH. I drive an hour to them! Well worth it!!

I agree with the comment that every visit left more questions than answers. Not recommended.
