First off, I would like to say even though I was besides myself with the bill, I am happy that these services are in fact open to serve the needs of our pets. But at what cost does it become "Out of control". On 04/17/2012, our one year old kitten was able to get out and was struck by a car, No, it was not the fault of the Vet, the blame for the cat getting out was ours. What appeared to me was the rear foot was broken at the base of the tibula, and I suspected injuries to the pelvic/hip region. My wife, very upset emotionally secured our cat and transported it to this RBVH in Linwood, NJ, First thing requested from this caring office was method of payment, they were given our debit card, and within the first hour, placed a charge of $993.00 on it, which I knew nothing of, and with my wifes state, I could say its safe to say she was not even thinking at a time like this. get a call the next morning and they want to transport this cat to the other office in Tinton Falls, and to repair the above (thought out injuries) in the sum of $5,800.00 with no promise that the cat would be able to walk again. I mean I fully understand everything is going up, but some of these charges are more than questionable, like three seperate charges for the term "Hospitalization that total $175.67, a 22 gauge cath $26.75 ( an entire box does not even cost that much, the IV Line to run fluids to the IV cath. $21.40, to place the 22 gauge cath into the cats leg, $ 101.65, rather than allow the fluid to remain at a K.VO. Rate, they place the IV on a infusion pump at a cost of $72.00, X-Rays $ 254.00, the list goes on and on, for a total out of pocket cost of $ 1,135.61. This is a example as to why most people do not take their pets to a vet, even though they in fact should and need the services, this is the end result. Sorry to say, but after all the fronted money, the cat was put down due to his injuries and prognosis. And this was all from my wife and I taking in a stray animal and attempting to give it a chance. And to top everything off, the young lady at the front desk could not even offer a smile, hello, how are you, or what can I do for you, just looked at me and waited for me to say why I was standing in front of her desk. Wow, Have times changed, had the results been the cat was repaired even slightly, then maybe the spent amount could of been justified, but when the end result is the animal has been put down, out of respect for one loss, maybe consider billing for the actual supplies used and no add in the profit margin to help ease the loss not only from the loss of a family member, but the major financial loss from ones checking/savings account. I am finished, Thank You for taking the time to listen

Yesterday on Thanksgiving i had to take my best friend MEATHEAD to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Linwood because he was acting very erratic. He would not stop running and looking around like there was something there. Now, let me say right up front , I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on the idiot box. What I am though, is, a retired union floor layer who waited 30 yrs to get an English bulldog. Has his name picked out for that long also. Now my son is 2yrs old and since the day I bought him home,he has been with me 24/7. Yes 24/7. I would venture to wager that I know my son pretty well, but again Im not a doctor. So when the doctor told my wife and I that upon completion of her examination of my son, she came to the conclusion there was nothing wrong with MEATHEAD. Mind you, as she was telling us this i pointed out to her that MEATHEAD was still eratic and was what looked like to me to be hallucinating. She proceeds to tell my wife and I that sometimes English Bulldogs can tend to run around a little to much and things can happen to them. This as I mentioned previously was going on as my boy, in my non- doctor opinion, rather my 24/7 opinion , was still very hiper which she says was because he was back with my wife and i. And lets not forget that he was looking around at in my 24/7 opinion was at things that were not there. But, she did tell us to bring my son back if things got worse. Not really sure if I wanted to see my boys condition worsen or how it could. But that. We could come back and im sure most likely pay another $153. Now please know, I would pay a $1053 and more just to have SOMEONE tell me what is wrong with my son and that we were going to take care of the problem. Needless to say the problem is still here today 8:37am the day after Thanksgiving. Now I will leave it up to you people , do I bring my son MEATHEAD back to Red Bank ,or take him to my Vet. Also do you believe God forbid something happens to my son in the future that I will be taking him to Red Bank.

I had just adopted my dog last July, 2011 and she had only been with me for about 3 weeks, when I went to pick her up and she let out a scream! Shes a small (8.5 lbs. then) Chinese Crested PowderPuff, all white with a full coat of hair and a full set of teeth. When I say she screamed, I mean she screamed! It was 10 pm and we were just going to bed. I got her comfortable in bed with me, but around 2 am, I noticed she just wasnt comfortable. I went to touch her under her arms and there was that scream again. That was it, she was going to the hospital! We went to RBVH, it was only about 20 minutes away from us. We had excellent service from the front desk to the Vet Tech to the Doctor! Being a new adoptive mother, I was so frieghtened that she was really hurt, but didnt know from what. They were very good at dealing with ME as well as with her, and I appreciated that greatly! Ive owned many dogs over the years, but she is the first since my last boy passed away in 2007 and I was still getting to know her. She was 6 yrs. old when I adopted her, so I didnt know her history. YES, IT MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE...BUT....AS EVERY ONE THAT OWNS AN ANIMAL KNOWS; IF YOURE GONNA HAVE A PET, YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR IT, NO MATTER WHAT THE COST!! I would have paid that night as much as I had to and that hasnt changed. If I had to take her today, I would pay whatever I had to, to keep her with me or TRY TO, WHAT EVER IT TOOK! SHE IS MY FAMILY, SHE IS MY HEART! SHE IS JOY AND I LOVE HER MORE THAN I EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!!

Wow, I can not believe that this is the emergency veterinarian care for the whole Cape May area. New Years Day down the shore my dog was vomiting, so we came to the emergency. I understand that it gets busy, but when I checked in and no one was in the waiting area, I had no idea I would be waiting nearly an hour. After driving 35 mins to get here. The waiting room soon filled up with other dogs who were all well behaved, but the room was so small and when the staff comes out to get your information (right in the waiting room for all to hear), they dont even introduced themselves, what their role are, or anything. The desk should at least say, we are busy and have a little wait. There were people in the back leaving without being seen. This was not professional, not set up for the area in which it serves and quite backwards in the "old school" approach of care. I dont care for everone to hear about what my pet has a history of and whats going on, Please take your pet somewhere else if you can. Just disappointed and I left, Ill just head back to PA at this point.
