First of all, Id like to start by saying that, like most of you, my pets are my family. I want the very best care possible for them in every way. I have been taking my animals to RAU for so long I honestly cannot remember how long it has been. I trust them 100% with my pets health. The vets, vet techs, receptionists are all SO polite, knowledgeable, and just simply amazing. My pets have seen many of the vets and they are ALL so wonderful when it comes to advice, treatment, prevention. RAU truly treats the pets as if they were their own. My cat Oreo lived a very long healthy happy life (21 years!) and was always taken to RAU. In his final days, they made sure to help me every step of the way to be sure I had support. Not only has RAU been amazing with my dog and cats, but the staff is very very good with small animals as well. My rabbit and rats have all been to RAU. Many vets claim to see "exotics" but are not truly prepared. RAU was fabulous and even went out of their way to contact exotic specialists for extra advice. The vets here TRULY care. They will give you honest, heartfelt advice and have taken SO much time over the years to answer each and every question I have. And I have a lot. RAU is THE BEST VET HOSPITAL in my opinion and I could write a novel about how much I love them. Highly highly recommended! Id like to add, after reading a review that talks about their prices, that I personally do not think they are expensive. In fact, quite the opposite. I find their prices VERY VERY reasonable. Often I went in expecting a larger bill to be surprised by something much lower. There have also been many times when they are willing to waive a fee, or give out a discount for special circumstances. The last time I checked, you can even get 10% off dental care just by going to a very very informative seminar given by Vickie Byard who is an amazing and extremely intelligent expert on Dental Care for your pets. And last, they have NEVER once suggested a treatment or service if it was not needed. I know vets who will do anything to make a buck. The staff at RAU will do what they think is best for your pet and you, even if that means making less money. Thank you so much, RAU!

Over-priced, superfluous procedures, and lousy customer service. We took our dog to these folks and almost everything they do is like throwing darts at a dartboard with a blindfold on. All guess-work. "We should run this test to see if its this".....$117 later....."Ooops! I guess we were wrong, but thanks for the check!" A former client of theirs told me that she was contacted by them because they "thought" her dog had swallowed a string of pearls. Naturally concerned, she paid them an exorbitant amount for the surgical procedure. They opened the dog up and found nothing. They then told her, "Oh, he/she probably passed them in their stool." I think the owner would have noticed, especially since the claim was that they were stringed together. Once, they called us with "concerns" about something, which they called, "a significant issue." We didnt get the message until after their regular office hours were over. We called back - the part-timer who is supposed to be able to handle calls like ours in the off-hours had no idea what the "issue" was or could find anything in the file. He told us the doctor would call us after the weekend. After the weekend??? You stir up the owners with concerns about some urgent issue and then because its inconvenient to your "weekend plans" you decide it can wait??? If we had brought a dead dog into your office Monday morning, could you have treated it then??? Never the same people on the service desk when you walk in and it seemed whoever got the white coat that particular morning was the "doctor" of the day. All veterinarians seem to be doing just guess-work at best, but these guys are flaming incompetents, operating under the guise of being caring experts and professionals. We found them to be anything but. And while prices for their services may be comparable to other veterinary services, theyll manufacture additional issues to get more money out of you.

Saturday, January 10th was one of the most difficult days of my life when I lost my beloved Scruffy after a nineteen-month battle to cancer. Dr. Kirchhoffer, tried to tell me that chemo wasnt a cure, but only a treatment. However, I didnt want to believe it. Instead, I clung to the hope that with the right medications, the right supplements and immunity boosters, specially prepared home-cooked food, spring bottled water and love—oh, so much love, I could cure her. God – as well as your staff --knows I tried. With that said however, you gave me an additional year and a half with Scruffy that I otherwise would not have had. “If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever!” My family and I are devastated as we continually wipe away tears and look for our ‘shadow’ which is now forever gone. The healing process will take a long time, but I confess, that it will never be complete. Saying goodbye to Scruffy was heartbreaking, but the compassion that you and your staff showed to us especially in the end and the realization that she has been in such good, caring, and professional hands during these past years is so comforting and is much appreciated by our family. Again, many thanks to your entire staff for the love and special care shown towards our Scruffy, for prolonging her time with us until no longer possible, and in the final chapter of her life, giving our furry child a peaceful and dignified end. With love and heartfelt thanks, Michele

My family has used Rau for two generations. I never question the care provided for any of my pets threw the years. I love the hours that they are opened, more than any other vet in the area. You definitely pay a higher price for a visit then some other vets. What I also like is that they will work within your means. I have some vets at the practice that I like better then others and miss Mark Fox a lot! The reason for a four star rating vs a five is that I have had a few incidents and practices that are no longer given. My biggest incident was when I put one of my dogs down years ago, I asked for the ashes back however the tech checked the wrong box and I never got it. Then this year I had to put a cat down where I didnt get her ashes back but asked for a paw print and they never did it. These things mean a lot to a pet owner! The only other problem I have is that they no longer offer a multiple pet discount unless you bring them in at the same time. Until recently, I had 6 dogs and 3 cats and I never get a multiple pet discount anymore! When I use to see Mark Fox he had on my account to always give me a multiple pet discount even if I just brought one pet in. When someone has this may pets like I do, I think at the very least they should still be giving me this discount. Ten percent isnt much but its something. Im not sure when they took this away, but I would like to see this discount come back when you have as many pets as I do.
