We went to the Maple Shade location earlier this evening with our Miniature Dachshund named Mischief, whose post-visit picture I attached. She was attacked by a pit bull who fortunately didnt bite her as hard as she could have. The facility is very clean and well-lit. The first thing that struck me was that I was NOT asked for a credit card to pay for the initial exam as soon as I walked in the door as at another emergency vet in the area. In fact, I was not asked to pay anything until the visit was over. You know, like it should be. Anyway, the staff was excellent. Kate the receptionist listened to our stories, as did all the other staff we saw. (We have a tendency to ramble on about how great and smart Mischief is and they indulged us just by listening.) The nurse who first saw her was upbeat and positive and Doctor Vail was EXCELLENT! She was compassionate and gentle. She talked to Mischief kindly and expressed often to Mischief how the poor little thing had such a stressful day. Her demeanor was awesome and she wasnt pushy with any kind of treatment. She gave her a drop in her eye to see if the cornea was scratched and gave us a medication to put on her eye every four hours. There was no, "We should take an x-ray to be sure of no broken bones" or "Oh, we need to keep her overnight for observation." None of that. Doctor Vail was professional and compassionate. If all vets (and all doctors in general) were like Doctor Vail the world would be just that much better. The exam was $155 which is going rate for vet ERs. The whole visit cost about $252. I expressed my shock and the receptionist thought something was wrong. I couldnt believe how reasonable. At the other emergency vet I paid big money for what they did and, boy, Id better have a credit card ready before anyone so much as GLANCED at my dog. Not here. NorthStar VETS was incredible to us. My wife and I hope to never have to use their services again as we hope Mischief and the other pets we will have in the future will be perfectly happy and healthy, but if we have to take our dog(s) to an emergency vet again you can be certain it will be NorthStar!

Facing a long battle with my Boxer Sparta on his diagnosis i decided to take him to Northstar vets during another seizure cluster. I had spent nearly six weeks with sleepless nights as my boy would slip into seizures followed by extreme exhaustion before i came to Northstar. I had also spent thousands of dollars on emergency vet visits, medication and missed work, because i love my dog i would do anything for him and after another seizure i took him to Northstar. Dr. Singleton spent so much time with me and Sparta explaining what might be taking place and what the appropriate steps would be to take. Her diagnosis was so helpful in deciding what to do and how to help him. Her diagnosis and treatment was spot on and unfortunately it was a brain tumor which was missed by the other vets that he had seen three times in six weeks. My Sparta had stayed the night and unfortunately was not getting better. Having to make a decision about his life was one of the absolute most difficult things i ever had to do.Thankfully Dr. Portner who was on the following day was so amazing in his explanation and demeanor upon deciding what we should do. He sincerely cared about my Sparta and his well being but was also helpful in helping me through this. When it comes to making a decision about your best friends life i was and am so greatfull that i had Dr. Singleton and Dr. Portner at my side. My Sparta made a decision to pass on into another life while i held him in my arms and honestly i am so thankful that Dr. Portner was there to comfort me and my guests at that moment. I thank you sincerely Dr. Singleton and Dr. Portner for your all your support expertise and most of all your character traits that make you both the best vets i ever had the pleasure of meeting, Sparta and I Thank you for everything you did including the hand written card i received from you,it was heartfelt.thanks

(My bf called to let them know we were coming ahead of time ) Upon arriving with my 4 year old rottie who was hobbling on three legs clearly in distress I was immediately turned off by the lack of empathy for my pet. The initial "nurse" or aid who first met me and my nephew in the reception area kept asking me to get him on the scale... he cant walk well I said hes in pain..with an attitude and disgusted look on her face she said "he seemed to walk in here perfectly fine" !!! That did not help calm me down and made me more uncomfortable and anxious. She was very rude and not concerned with the well being of my pet but concerned with her "safety" saying he was growling at her(he was yelping in pain) I was so put off I was ready to leave, I finally coaxed him into the scale and they took their good old time acknowledging that (after being told repeatedly it was crucial) the whole uncomfortable experience cost $302 for an exam no x rays and some pain meds... the staff seemed uncomfortable around animals... its an animal hospital for christs sake!!! Not recommending this location or company that employs such cold hearted, unprofessional staff.

Had been going to mt.laurel animal hospital for years, wanted to try some place new and hopefully better. Northstar vets was refreshingly wonderful from the moment we pulled into the lot. The staff is very attentive, quick, and friendly. Someone came out and started getting information on our pet within minutes. We were seen very quickly. All of the employees were very well informed and helpful. The diagnosis was extremely quick with our X-ray, and the vet listened to our every concern. We saw the vet on the weekend, so it was 150 for the visit, 140 for our xray, and then roughly 100 for 2 medications and a rabies booster shot. We were in and out in 2 hours and there were plenty of patients there. Great experience and super clean facilities!!

We arrived at 11:30pm with a very distressed basset hound. The receptionship was welcoming and very efficient. The Vet Tech arrived quickly to assess our problem. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very gentle with our hurting pup. Dr. Vail was really impressive. She spent time assessing the problem and explaining our options. She presents as well educated, competent and personable. They treated Our basset quickly and she was already showing improvement when we were leaving. The facility is spotless and well organized. Overall, a great experience.

I was out of town, and my dog sitter found my dog lethargic and bloody, and took her to their mobile veterinarians. North Star was recommended to me by HousePaws Mobile Veterinarians since my dog needed 24 hour care. The veterinarian called me, explained my dogs status and care that was needed. They kept in touch with me and both the mobile vet and my personal vet. All testing results and treatments were explained verbally and in writing. They were great. They even let me pick Sandi up on my way home late at night.

We brought our cat to this establishment yesterday since it was the only facility open on Sunday. Our cat was 20 years old and was so sick we decided that euthanasia was necessary to end her suffering. As you can imagine, it was a painful experience for all of us but the kindness of all of the staff, particularly Doctor Portner, was greatly appreciated. We will continue to use this facility for the medical needs of our other pets and recommend it to others.
