In April I had noticed that my dog had what we thought were swollen glands in her neck. We called my usual vet who told us we couldnt be fit in for an entire month. Thinking this was completely ridiculous we called Barnside vet and got an appointment with Dr. Sharin within a day or so. We took lily in and were delivered devastating news, Dr. Sharin told us that she believed that lily had lymphoma and what were thought were swollen glands were actually swollen lymph nodes. This was the first time that we had even come to Barnside and Dr. Sharin and her staff treated us like we had been patients with her office for years. We were immediately referred to an oncologist and got an appointment the next day. As anyone could imagine this was an incredibly tough time for my boyfriend and I, we had so any questions and Dr. Sharin would always make time to talk to us even after the office was closed. There would be days that she would be on the phone with my boyfriend for a half hour, she was always compassionate and honest with us. Sadly we only had 6 weeks with Lily after her diagnosis but at least it was 6 happy weeks for her. If we had waited for our old vet we wouldve only had two weeks with her. Barnside is about 45 minutes from where we live but I could never imagine going to another vet. Dr. Sharin and her team are AMAZING and as long as we are living in Nj we will travel as far as we need to in order to stay patients.

This past Sunday 7/26/15 my 18 year old lilac Siamese cat went into emergency renal failure. My regular vet was closed so I called Barnside. They accommodated us immediately. Dr. Drotos, was so compassionate and kind she could tell that I was not able to say goodbye yet and gave my Mandy a pain shot and sent her home with us. I held Mandy all night long without sleep, and stayed by her side the next day. She passed in my arms. I cannot thank Dr. Drotos enough. This was one of the hardest goodbyes I have ever said, humans included. Mandy was super smart and super affectionate. She loved me as much as I loved her. She gave nose kisses and head bumps, she slept with me every night for the last 15 years since we took her home. She tolerated anyone that came near me, but made it known that I was hers. She will be greatly missed. Dr. Drotos thank you for not making me feel embarrassed at how emotional i was, and thank you for caring for my Mandy and giving her the opportunity to come home with us and die at home. You and all of the staff that day made us feel welcome and respected.

The office manager (Dr. Sharins husband) is incredibly rude and condescending. We had been taking our dog here for three years to see Dr. Drotos with no issue. When our dog developed a severe tic we brought her in for two separate exams. Dr. Sharin was convinced it was an epileptic seizure or possibly a brain tumor. I repeat, she said it was possibly a brain tumor. She suggested we see a neuro specialist. When we brought our dog home, we noticed "flea dirt" on her bed. Gave our dog otc flea treatment and her tics were completely gone. Our dog had fleas. Not seizures, not a brain tumor, but fleas. She is 100% normal again and we are out $500 and almost hundreds more. We called to explain this but the Dr and the office manager blew us off for 3 days and are standing their ground with the neuro recommendation. Do not go to Barnside Vet.

Called them to ask them to test facial matter from a puppy from a concern of a possible parasite. They said bring the sample right down and no need to bring the dog in. After paying and telling them we are going to be a new client the receptionist brought the sample in the back room. Ten minutes later she comes back out telling us she can not test it per orders of the office manager and Dr Palmisano. I understand the fact that you would not be able to dispense medication without seeing the dog. All we were asking for is the fecal to be tested and if it came back positive then we would bring back the dog in. The fact that we are not able to get a jump start on the testing and possibly leaving the dog sick is unprofessional.

Quality: POOR NEVER NEVER NEVER use this vet for medical services or boarding. They are very unprofessional and not knowledgable. All they want is your money... they do not care for an animals best interest. They do not return phone calls often and when they do, they are rude and unprofessional. Especially Dr. Sharon and her husband Manager Mike. Its a family business that they are only looking to get rich off of... I wish I would have done more research in this vet before trusting my dogs care with them... For the best interest of your loving pet... stay far far away from this business.

I have been taking ALL three of my big dogs to The Barnside for boarding services and for veterinarian check ups! They are professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant. I read the other negative reviews and have to wonder what was wrong with "those" dog owners...I mean seriously? What are you talking about? So if anyone is wondering if they should give this Vet a chance...please do. I have three dogs: 2 Pure Bred Shepherds and a Pure Labrador. They are all doing great because of their care.

I read these two reviews and wonder if I am stupid or worse. I love this veterinary group, from the front desk staff to the veterinarians themselves. Our two fur kids like it there, we have had nothing but professional, caring and loving experiences since we first went there years and years ago. We are on a new round of dogs, Bailey and Mollie lived to 15 and 16 respectively. I have friends that take their pets there, and others who only board there. I have never heard one complaint.

We have been going to Barnside Vet for 5 years now and love everyone there. Dr. Sharin and Dr. Drotos are both kind and compassionate veterinarians. They take their time with you and answer any and all questions you may have. The entire staff are always pleasant and their love for animals show. My fur baby actually likes going to see them. I would highly recommend.

Bad business people (office manager). There are plenty of better, cheaper, more honest vets in the area. Dont go to barnside.

Barnside has been absolutely great. I used them for my goats and will probably start taking all my animals there.
