Worst hospital EVER! If you want to live, DO NOT GO HERE. They do NOT care about you. You are just a number and a dollar sign. I went to the ER because I was having stomach pain for a couple days. I ended up needing to get my appendix removed. The ER is ghetto. It looks like they just slapped building materials and old hospital equipment together. The ER doctors and nurses are beyond rude. They were practically yelling at me. This next part was just annoying; nobody introduced themselves, explained who they were or said their title. The first thing out of their mouth would be "what can I do for you?" How am I suppose to know, I dont know who you are or what you do and I dont know what is wrong with me. I came in around 10am and didnt leave the ER wing until after 7pm (to go straight to OR) even through I was already "admitted". The Assistant Surgeon was texting on his cell phone when I met him. I had to wait two hours after being ready for my surgery because they couldnt find the surgeon. The only person that was kind and helpful the whole time I was there, was the wonderful lady who was in recovery when I woke up after my surgery. She had an answer for all of my questions and helped me when I needed help. She was very caring and I wish that I caught her name so I can thank her again. I was brought to my room (which I shared) around 11pm. This is when I started to ask if I could speak to anyone who was in the OR during my surgery. The nurses were rude and never had an answer to any of my questions nor would they try to find an answer. They were trying to rush everything because they wanted to get me out of the hospital by 11am. the hospital has a check out time like a hotel. Im sorry but you should be in the hospital until youre ready to leave. not to leave so the hospital meets their check out time goal. They finally sent in a surgeon before I was discharged. But she was not in the OR during my surgery so she couldnt answer any of my questions. She just kept repeating the most basic definition of the surgery I had. (which you can read right off of google) Then they told me I needed to schedule my follow up appointment and that it needed to be in a week. The next day I called to schedule my appointment. The receptionist tried to schedule me for that day. I had to explain to her that its a follow up appointment. She told me to call back tomorrow because she didnt know the Doctors schedule.

The Hackensack University Medical Center is terrific! My mom has pancreatic adenocarcinoma cancer and from the moment we walked into the building of 20 Prospect Ave., the receptionist greeted us and the attending nurses and coordinators were friendly, kind and professional. Effie was amazing in coordinating my moms appointment, setting up the date and time along with coordinating moms blood work. At the pre-admission office where moms blood work, EKG and X-ray was completed-- excellent job with very little waiting time, wonderful attentiveness and professionalism! The young woman at the pre-admission office that went over the Consent for Treatment paperwork was absolutely wonderful, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable--we enjoyed exchanging good conversation with this pre-admission representative and was thankful to have met her. Dr. Kline, Dr. Reddy the nurses were also, amazing, attentive, professional and caring. Mom found Adam to be so nice and caring. We are firm believers to give high praise and credit when due. The experience and process was great, however, there was one exception with one caregiver, by the name of Patunya. I found her to be rough and abrupt in her attitude and how she handled my mother. Such frustration and impatience made my mother and myself very uncomfortable with her around during moms post-surgery, recovery. When I observed this, I had to stand up and tell Patunya that I will walk my mother to the bathroom. Patunya responded in a short and forceful tone "no" she had to do it. If thats the case I asked her to be gentle, my mom is in enough pain. I would not stay behind trusting Patunya with mom alone. I walked with them and I stood outside the bathroom door because I was scared and concerned what might be happening behind closed door during Patunyas time in the bathroom with my mom. I thought and asked myself, was mom still being mishandled behind closed door with this Patunya person? Indeed, Patunya revealed a mean-spirited edge that does not serve best in a caregivers role. And to be honest, I do not want her anywhere near my mother again. But, I will not permit one bad apple to influence the overall experience at Hackensack University Medical Center which I would rate 5 Star.

I went to see a doctor at the URGENT MED, fo on 13th May and he recommended that i go to the er and show my symptoms as he suspect ed gastrointestinal bleeding and uclerization We reached the ER around 8 pm on 13th May 2015. After the prep work where a nursing assistant did not even look at my prescription an recommendations my doc...we had had to wait till 9:35 pm for the nurse to come and draw blood for the tests. Finally Dr.Kim was able to make it to us only around 10:15 pm (2 hours and 15 minutes later), promising to get back to us as soon as he was able to see the bloodwork results. At 10:45, upon checking with Dr.Kim we were told the blood work was satisfactory but since there was tenderness at the stomach area, he will need to get a cat scan done as he suspected appendicitis. !?! My symptoms were abdominal tenderness and when I ate my stomach Hurt in various places Upon our request , he agreed to administer some medicine alongwith IV before going for a catscan. At 11:15 pm, we let the doctor know that we would not be willing to go for a cat scan at this time as he had mentioned it would take a couple of hours and we had our daughter alone at home with school the next morning, so if required, we would make an appointment for another time for the catscan. He confirmed it would be ok but we would have to sign a form saying that we decided to not take the doctors suggestion. As soon as the medicine and the IV was complete around 11:45 pm, we asked the doctor and the nurse to take the drip off so we could leave and i wanted to use the restroom. We waited till 1:10 AM for someone to come and take the drip off and also give us the paperwork for discharge, despite following up atleast 4 times from 11:45 to 1:10 with the doctor himself. In his own words, he was short staffed so the nurse would get to us soon….. Unable to bear it anymore, i took off the drip herself at 1:10 to go and use the restroom and then we decided to help ourselves out. Above you see is total disregard of patients care or health or any problems.

Is it real emergency room? The ER should be shut down. I have no idea such a ER exist. It was worst on the world. My mom fall down and hit her head and lower back very hard. She arrived ER, but nobody cared for an hour in front of the room. Finally, she could enter the room but still had to wait an hour. We had to wait and wait until we can meet nurses or doctor in spite of her bad situation. The person I never forgive was the nurse Dorothy(she wore white jacket and said she was nurse.) She tried to stick plastic needle into my mom’s vein for I.V. and correcting blood. She took about 30 min to have done. During the way, she changed the needle 3times, thick one, mid, and thin one with putting in and taking out with grumbling. When she failed the thick one, the blood spouted out from my mom’s forearm. Finally my mom was so tired and felt so pain because of the nurse did. Most serious problem she did was that she left the thin orange rubber tube to correct blood easily tied on my mom’s arm for about 10min! She backed and forced between the drawer and my mom to take something everytime she forget something. My mom’s arm was getting change so red. OH MY GOD!! I could not bear to see it ,then I said “This is not good” She said irritatingly “I am a nurse!!” On the desk at bedside was like a mountain of trash, her face was so sweated. She seemed no keep cool. After she left, another nurse (he wore green jacket) came to correct my mom’s blood. IS IT SERIOUS? She doesn’t speak any because she was week. Who can refuse correcting blood twice? Of course the part of her wrist was so swollen. My mom never has a problem to stick needle into her vein at the other hospital. I have never seen such a nurse who couldn’t do appropriately in my life and I thought my home is much better for her than the horrible room.
