This hospital is a joke. Id be more comfortable with the cast of scrubs handling my loved ones care rather than this place. Its only fair to acknowledge the nurses on 2 north for doing there best considering they are over worked due to under staffing. The doctors are a joke and if your lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of these elusive creatures they will tell you absolutely nothing. First they send my girlfriend for a CT scan. Had her drink the contrast dink at 230am after she choked that down they told her she could not eat or drink until after the scan which would take place in about 3 hours. 11 hours later she finally had the scan and was allowed to eat and drink. So she ordered cheerios milk and fruit. After over an hour the brought the cheerios but that was it. So then guest services stepped in and promised to rectify the situation and also gave me two five dollar vouchers for the cafeteria. Situation wasnt addressed and the only food she got at this point is what I went down and got her. Then the doctor ordered an ultrasound for first thing in the morning. Which would have been great if A. They actually did it first thing in the morning and B. They didnt tell her no food or drinks until after the ultrasound. They ended up not doing it until 1pm, and you actually need a full bladder for a pelvic ultrasound so that right there tells me that they are quacks. Her pain got to the point where she had to beg for her pain medication and this occurred after the waiting period was over because they can only dispense the meds after six hours which is understandable, but when shes begging 8 hours after her last dose this becomes unacceptable. I contacted guest services again and Lisa came to the room promising once again to rectify the issues we were experienceing. And once again nothing happened. So after three days of being neglected my girlfriend signed herself out with no information about what could be wrong with her because lets face it why pay to not be diagnosed when you can do that from home for free. After all of this I was finally able to get in contact with Larsen the guest services manager. Told her our story and how disgusted I was with the lack of competence of her staff and how neglected my girlfriend was. She told me she would investigate and call me back with insight on what happened. That was Friday. It is now Tuesday. Still no word. So at this point all I can say is to Larsen, Lisa, and the rest of guest services, you are a joke. To the doctors in this hospital, you are inadequate in your ability to help patients and should stop practicing medicine before you kill somebody, And finally to the nurses on 2 north. Do not let this place drag you down find jobs elsewhere because this place is a dump and you deserve better.

What can i say I am a Registered nurse and i was taken in by ambulance in feb 2010 for chest pains I have history of an arrythmias so i take digoxin which requires a level my heart had been racing several nights prior , the doctor Dr Nadelco came in and pressed on my sternum which she said its musculoskeletal im 98 pds if you pound on my ribs it hurts , no digoxin level was taken . I went to my PCP and he drew blood and said your digoxin level was low , didnt they take that?? Good question Two weks later I have 102 fever with abdominal pain so i call my physician and he said go to ER . I go there and i told them my doc wants to be called as soon as i got there . I was left on a stretcher in the hallway for hours in the Er the nurse put in an Iv and drew blood however my pain was 10 no one addressed this .Now my husband comes in ive been in the hallway for three hours now in pain and tells the nurse is this how we treat patients even one of your own. NO response from them. its now 7pm my husband is getting ansy no doctor has seen me or adressed my pain its been 5 hours now. Dr Roma comes in talks real fast and condescending to me and says its constipation i look at him like he has two heads I said im in pain so he gave me donnatol five minutes later i throw up with diarrhea 5 times . He said I was discharged i put my coat on (im still throwing up) Then he said oh you feel better i look at him strange again he claims no i told the nurse to admit you. still remember no pain was addressed . The hospitilist came down to see me and admiited me to a room with pain medication which was not offered until 10pm !!!!!. Unbelievable , next day comes in there is Dr nadelco at 12 noon and she says everything looks okay you dont need to be here your not sick enough ( not taking into consideration i have cardiac and asthma issues as well . Then she changes my status from nothing by mouth to regular diet so i called dietary for a sandwich they lost it . I had to wait 4 hours. then the nurse comes in with a IV bag of Potassium to hang I said I thought i was discharged she said your potassium was low ( which can lead to a lethal heart rhythm ) SO i said to the nurse then my blood work was not entirely normal she didnt know what to say. I called guest relations and complained , I also called my lawyer because they never ran my digoxin level iether and i had an arrythmia attack when i went home. Bottom line please people know your patient rights and be careful with Riverview they are understaffed and poorly trained. I will be using Robert Wood Johnson for my medical needs

My wife was scheduled for back surgery at Riverview Medical Center in January. The surgery went fine, but she lingered for 8 hours in the surgical recovery room because, according to the nurse manning the waiting room desk, that there was no room ready for her. Other than that no one could tell me anything, like how she was actually doing. The nurse manning the waiting room desk left at 6pm, leaving me completely without anyone that could give me any information or updates. I was eventually forced to leave at 11pm to take care of our daughter, still having no idea as to how my wife was doing at all. I found out the next day (my wife finally having gotten a room!) that a room had actually been ready the entire time...only no one knew about it. My wife rated the pain management she received in the recovery room as completely ineffective and she was left in great pain for the entire duration of the wait. Her care while in her room was actually pretty good. The nurses, though obviously overworked, were very helpful and made my wife as comfortable as possible. She (my wife) has no complaints about the service she received while she there. However, the doctors also discharged her while she was still complaining to them that the pain management they had been prescribing was not working. They left us with prescriptions for the same regime of medication she had told them was ineffective, which resulted in her spending a night home in terrible pain and a re-admittance to Monmouth Medical Center the very next day, where she received much better care and was discharged only after she was able to stand and walk with a cane. From my perspective as a non-patient who was there every day for a week, the hospital still isnt great: the parking lot is downright tiny and nine times out of ten your only option is valet parking, though all they do is park the cars in the same parking lot against the curbs, which you arent allowed to do. There is a nice relaxing area to sit and eat next to the Dunkin Donuts, with a great view of the river, which honestly is the only positive of the whole hospital. I absolutely cannot recommend Riverview to anyone at all, though in our case we had no choice, as thats where the back surgeon operated out of. Should anyone reading this have a choice of hospitals in the future, make sure your choice is not Riverview. Make it Monmouth or Jersey Shore if at all possible.
