So where to start……two years ago I decided I was fed up with my back pain. I had tried going to the Chiropractor…but basically did so on my own terms. I only went when I was in severe pain and listened to virtually nothing they told me. This was made worse by the fact that my chiropractor was a friend of mine, and after all we seldom view our friends as professionals. So I decided enough is enough, I am going to get surgery. Just for peace of mind I decided that before I did, I would try once more at a Chiropractor, only this time, one I didn’t Know personally. This was made easier by the fact that my friend moved away. So after proving that it didn’t work I would get whatever surgery I needed. So I found myself at Ryan Chiropractic. I’m not going to lie, I was immediately thrown threw a loop by how different they were than the previous offices I had been to. The orientation felt a little like a sales pitch and it seemed like they were trying awfully hard to educate me on subluxation and the benefits of chiropractic care. This at first seemed especially strange given that most doctors hardly look you in the eye let alone take the time to explain how they are going to treat you. Determined to rule out every option before surgery, I went for adjustments exactly as they recommended. The fact that each adjustment only took a couple minutes at first seemed odd as well. I used to spend at least 20-30 minutes at my old Chiropractor’s office and that didn’t work. How was a couple of minutes three times a week going to work? Well it worked!! It turns out that Dr. Patrick’s method is what I affectionately call annoying efficient. So now skip ahead two years later. First off I haven’t had surgery and I wouldn’t know what I would do without their office. I continue to go at least once a week. Not because I am still in pain, but because I just feel healthier for doing so. Not only is my back a million times better, but on the rare occasion I throw my back out, one trip to their office leaves me nearly cured. Other medical issues I was having prior to coming to their office have mysteriously vanished as well. My wife, daughter, and even my 4 year old son go for adjustments. My Son’s pediatrician was loading him up on antibiotics and wanted to put tubes in his ear. Adjustments alone cured his ear infections. Apparently there is something to this Chiropractic care being about more than just back pain. As I have learned from their office, you go to treat your nervous system not just your back. In fact, I now realize that the reason I was so thrown off by how they run their office is because sincerity is so often lacking in today’s world and God Knows I am a cynical person. I wanted to walk in to their office and basically tell them how I wanted to be treated. Well Dr. Patrick wasn’t going to let that happen and thank goodness for that. If there is any downside to Ryan Chiropractic, it is the fact that they aren’t open 24/7, a problem I am trying diligently to convince them to correct j/k Dr. Patrick truly has a gift and If you give his office a chance, you will find that they are different for a reason. Their treatment truly works.

I called in advance to ask if they took my insurance and they said yes and not to worry the first visit is free. I assumed that I would have to pay for x-rays and adjustment if that took place because obviously no doctor will treat you for free so naturally I brought my insurance information. Well the first visit is just a consultation (helpful life tip: anytime you hear the word "consultation", youre about to get a sales pitch). Essentially, I was just asked a dozen questions about my health and injury history with no physical examination whatsoever. The only examination they did was heart rate variability which the doctor did not even discuss or look at my results. Not to mention heart rate variability is supposed to be done first thing in the morning before you even get out of bed. You can accomplish this on your smart phone using a heart rate strap and an HRV app. Every single chiropractor/physical therapist I have ever been to will do a physical examination, including range of motion assessment, strength assessment, posture analysis, and physical examination. None of that happened during my visit. Instead, they tell you before you see the doctor that he/she will decide if you are a candidate for chiropractic following the consultation. I cant imagine that anyone has ever been told they are not a candidate for chiropractics. If you decided to follow through with treatment, you must pay upfront and then you get the physical examination at your next visit. Im not a chiropractor, but I imagine that to truly determine if you are a candidate for chiropractics some sort of physical examination would need to take place. Before coming in I told them my pain level was a 10 on a scale of 1-10 and I was hoping to come in the day I called or the following day but the earliest "new patient appointment" wasnt until the following Monday. Knowing that I was in so much pain they couldnt squeeze me in; but I have heard of the Gonstead Technique before and was willing to wait because I thought it would really benefit me. When Monday finally rolled around all they did was sit me down at a table and ask me questions. I find it alarming that they would have me come in for an appointment knowing they were not going to adjust me or examine me till the 2nd visit, even though I was in so much pain. Then when the Doctor started going over the prices for the assessment and every appointment after that I asked about my insurance because it seemed really high. Come to find they DONT take my insurance so the prices I was given were outrageous. Had they just told me they dont take my insurance I never would have wasted my time to come in. Then when I told the doctor it was too expensive she basically said well it was nice to meet you and rushed me out the door without even looking me in the eye. I could tell she was annoyed I didnt commit to the treatment but she could have saved us both the aggravation and time if I was just told upfront that they dont take my health insurance.

Highly recommended! I have been seeing Dr Patrick Ryan for about 2 months and I am really pleased and impressed with the Ryan Chiropractic experience. I was suffering from sharp pain in my neck and shoulder which prohibited me from my normal routine of working, exercising, walking my dogs and even lying down was a struggle. In addition to the sharp pain, I also experienced numbness in my left hand through my fingers making it impossible to type, hold items and wash my hair. The pain was really disrupting my life. Being new to the area, I started my research for chiropractic care online. I made several calls and distinctly remember why I selected Ryan Chiropractic. Dr Gerri Ryan answered my call and took the time to listen to my issues and talk to me about my options. Other offices that I contacted were quick to book an appointment without me even explaining why I was reaching out to them. When I first visited Ryan Chiropractic, I was greeted by name and the entire staff really took the time to explain what steps I might consider to ease the pain I was experiencing. Dr Patrick Ryan, who adjusts me, thoroughly described his strategy; what he would do and what I can do to reach optimal health. I was impressed by the technology that Ryan Chiropractic offers and appreciate that I can visually compare my progress as I continue my adjustments. In a very short period of time after being adjusted I felt relief. I was able to resume my normal life and activities. In addition to feeling better, I became more aware of my habits that caused the pain and modified those habits. I have also been paying closer attention to my diet. I’ve increased eating fruits and vegetables and make an effort to drink more water and take my vitamins. Combing these good habits with my adjustments really has made a difference in my life. I thought I had a healthy spine, but I didn’t. I’m sure many of us think we are perfectly healthy because we generally feel fine, but why wait for pain or illness to begin caring for the center of communication for your body? It really isn’t human nature to seek help until there is a problem, but I absolutely recommend Ryan Chiropractic to anyone who wants to overall live a healthier life, not just treat an ailment.
