I have been taking my animals to Briar Patch since 1987. In that time I have had five cats and three dogs. I continue to appreciate the competent and caring staff, from the moment we enter to the good-byes on the way to the car. And this has been true no matter which doctor we see. Ive always known the doctors at Briar Patch to be thorough, sympathetic, and diligent. The thing that really stands out about the entire staff at Briar Patch is that they really, genuinely care about my animals and me, and are willing to listen to any concerns about my pets and answer all of the (considerable number of) questions I have, with patience and details. I never feel as though I am being rushed in and out, just to make the business more money; my animals have always received the best care at Briar Patch. Anyone who hasnt been to Briar Patch in a while should give Briar Patch another try, because they are, quite simply, among the best veterinarians and technicians here in Ithaca.

Dr. Rhinehart is the most wonderful veterinarian I have come across. She is extremely knowledgeable of the most current veterinary practices. She is unmatched when it comes to putting that knowledge into action while being compassionate with not only our four legged family member, but toward myself & my girlfriend as well. She is willing to go that extra mile when seeking out an alternative treatment when traditional treatments arent helping. I have not met/experienced a better Veterinarian in my 48 years.

I called Briar Patch Monday morning because my guinea pig had a cut across the top of one of his toes. They were able to get me in Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Rhinehart. I was beyond impressed with all the staff, especially Dr. Rhineharts knowledge and attention to detail regarding my little guy. She treated him with the utmost care and compassion. I will not hesitate to bring my animals back to Briar Patch! Highly recommend for exotic pets!

Ive taken my dogs here for years. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Waiting room is small, but never have encountered any off leash pets. Cats are best brought in, inside a carrier and not in anyones arms. Even on leash dogs can suddenly lunge and attack. They do have a really nice walking path in the back of the facility. I dont find their prices any cheaper than other vets in the Ithaca area. Ask for Dr. Kaplan, shes my fave.

Ive taken my pets here for years and always found the vets exceptional and the receptionist welcoming. My dog actually gets excited to go there. Its smaller and has a great little walking area in the back. It is also reasonably priced compared to other vets in the area. I dont often write reviews but after seeing the negative ones posted I wanted to share my positive experience.

Briar Patch has been nothing but awesome for me I would recommend and do all the time. Dr. Costagan my pets Doctor explains everything in a language that you understand and never leaves anything out. The technicians and reception staff are also awesome. After going to Briar Patch I would never go anywhere else.

Dr. Rhinehart and the rest of the staff have been amazingly patient and flexible with my large, reactive dog. Making vet visits a positive experience has been a priority, rather than rushing through procedures by force. Highly recommend for fearful/reactive pets!

Good prices. Great staff, everyone from reception to dvm was fantastic and made me feel welcome and they were fantastic with my dog who can be very scared around new people. I will definitely be coming back for any and all veterinary needs.

The staff here are very caring. They explain all options and are non-judgmental. They took great care of our Rascal in life and in his death. Now they are caring for our wild and crazy new puppy!!!

My Cat was almost attacked by a dog in the waiting room. The dog was not on a leash and came after my poor cat, scared him half to death. A very traumatic experience. I wont go back to this vet.
