I had to bring my dog here because it was over the weekend and my dogs veterinary office was closed. Although I wasnt a fan of the wait time before being helped (about 45mins) or of the front office staff. I had an awesome experience with the vet himself. This review isnt so much about this place itself as it is about the Dr. Dustin Crist. Although the circumstances surrounding our office visit were nothing less than extremely painful to myself and my family (we had to put our dog "down"), we could not have been more pleased with Dr. Crist! He seemed very knowledgeable about our dogs illness, provided us options on how to treat our Tobey (our dog), and was genuinely empathetic when I decided to euthanize him. Dr. Crist explained the whole process very well. After hearing him talk I had no questions as to what to expect from this procedure. Dr. Crist is patient and was very gentle with Tobey. Also today I received a postcard in the mail from him personally expressing his sympathy over Tobeys death. To me, this speaks volumes of him as a veterinarian. Though I wish the circumstances surrounding my visit to this hospital had been different, I am glad that Dr. Crist assisted us because I know that Tobey could not have been with better hands during his last moments!

I normally do not leave horrible reviews, but this just absolutely made me so mad and upset at the same time. Two nights ago, my guinea pig hurt his spine and possibly had other injuries, so I called my work and asked them what emergency room they bring their pets too, they told me this place. I called them first thing and told them what happened. They came back and told me that they couldnt care for my guinea pig that they didnt have the knowledge for it. I asked them if they would tell me who I can go to and they told me that they didnt know an exotic vet. Finally after calling elsewhere a vet in VA beach that knows nothing about guinea pigs or pocket pets told me they would not turn him down, at this point, it had been too long and I didnt think hed make it. I had him bundled in a fleece blanket and rushed to my car and made it 20 minutes. I looked down on my lap to check on him and he had passed. So overall, there might not have been anything they could have done to save him..... But this vet caused my poor baby to sit in pain and didnt have a single recommendation for me AND on top of this, this vet is the vet we take our pets to at the pet store.

Dr. Stiff is amazing! Our beloved Meeka (R.I.P 12/30/12) ate Excedrine migraine and had to be humanely euthanized... he was so kind and caring, gave me my own room to completely bawl my eyes out and hold her for as long as I needed, and he had also explained every alternative there was but understood that me being a navy wife and having an infant, we just didnt have the money to pay for a procedure that was easily $1, 000. But he did give us the option. Right before she was humanely euthanized he asked if we would like to cremate her and keep her ashes seeing that we loved her so much. And we agreed.... the cost of everything was reasonable for it being an emergency veterinarian. The euthanization was only $36 and every other actual vet that I had called (including my own) were easily over $100 for a humanely euthanization. Ive heard complaints about the other vet that worked there so I had made sure Dr. Stiff was working when I took my baby in to be euthanized... again, he is fantastic. And Im glad he was the one who took care of our baby ♥

My best friend and I had a pet tortoise named Koopa Troopa. Koopa was about 4 months old and was in terrible shape due to the lack of care at Petsmart. Koopa had a respiratory infection and was struggling to eat, breath, and move around. My best friend and I had frantically been to 4 different hospitals and no one would see Koopa! I though for sure he was just going to have to die. We stumbled upon this ER while frantically driving around. When I explained Koopas situation to the front desk for the hundredth time, I thought I was going to burst into tears. The man at the front desk gave us the best news that the doctor would take a look at Koopa! Everyone was so kind here and kept my friend and I smiling and at ease. Seeing as my friend and I are still teenagers, we are not used to hospitality outside of the house. Everyone here was so amazing and the doctor even came to my workplace the next day and asked about Koopa! I will always recommend this place.

Not a place I would go to for an emergency. We went here with our cat and the doctor working told us our cat was sick from a bad heart because he heard a heart murmur, so he gave our cat a shot of unncessessary lasix for a bad heart, turns out our cat had a perfectly normal and healthy heart!! Had this doctor simply looked into our cats mouth he would have seen a huge tumor in the back of his throat which was blocking 99% of his airway, and THAT is why he was having trouble breathing! Geez! We had the same experience at Peninsula Emergency Vet on Route 17 as well. Its hard to find a doctor who cares enough to do a thorough examination. We will not be going back. Instead we took our cat to The Cove over in Suffolk and within 30 mins they figured out why our cat was so sick, they were so wonderful at The Cove! Please dont waste your time at this place or your precious money. Go straight to The Cove in Suffolk instead, the doctors there are amazing!

I carried my dog there for an emergency yesterday. Upon arrival they took him in the back and asked me to do X-rays I granted permission for x-rays. After about 30 minutes they came out told me my dog had a few broken ribs and had a hole in his chest. After that they advise me I should put my dog down. The x-rays that they take they tell me they could not tell if my dog had a collapsed lung or not but yet they insisted to put him down euthanize him. Advise them to get my dog ready and do what needed to be to carry him to another vet they told me that the dog wouldnt survive a 2 hour drive. Upon arrival at the other vet the dog was taken in treated bandaged up and is doing fine today a little sore he is up eating and walking around yet they were persistent to put your dog down. Be advised that I would not recommend this place to anyone please stay away if you love your pet

The word emergency implies for me that my kitten would be looked to immediately. I was told I arrived in the middle of a shift change and was told to sit and wait. Meanwhile, in the back room I heard what sounded like a lot of socializing going on. I left after 15 minutes. I wont be going back unless they are the ONLY game in town! For my cats sakes only. I also wont be going back to the normal vet clinic these people are associated with. If they are going to charge 300% for emergency service, they need to provide it. They lost about 20 years of my business for two cats. I do not recommend. There used to be another emergency vet near the NN city line. I intend to find if they are still in business and by whom owned.
