I took my cat in for dental work and all kinds of labs. Cost me 500$. After they removed some of his teeth they told me everything should be fine now. I was back 6 weeks later with the same dental problem. They told me that this happens some times. I said why wasnt I informed that this could be a problem last visit. They had no answer and started to get very rude with me. The vet knows we are on a limited income and used all our savings for the surgery and after her exam she said my cat needed all his teeth removed. Then referred me to an out of state dental vet. The initial visit alone was 75$ and a 4 hour drive. I said we cant afford that is there some other place you can refer us. They were very nasty and said if we cant afford to take care of our animals the we should take him to the ASPCA. So I called the ASPCA and was prepared to surrender my cat and they referred my Lannons animal hospital. They worked with me and Lannons to take care of my cat. I am so sorry I ever set foot in small paws. The staff is unprofessional and the vet is very cold. I truly think all they care about is money. Please take heed before going to Small Paws.

Honestly, Im not one to leave reviews...but the customer service I received at Small Paws Vet was awful. I took my cat in for a checkup, and voiced concerns about my roommates dog having Lyme Disease. I wanted to make sure my cat wasnt at risk, or if I needed to take certain precautions. They honestly treated me like I was an idiot for even bringing it up. Even the actual Veterinarian made a joke about my concerns...that cat is my child! Be a little more professional. I can take a joke, but Im not paying you to make me feel ridiculous when I have concerns about my pets health. Even if you feel like its a dumb question...Its called customer service. So they called me today to remind me of my cats rabies vaccine, and I very politely told they why I wouldnt be bringing her back to their office. No apology. They truly dont care that theyre losing my business. So if this is the type of people you want to trust with your pet, I suggest researching any questions you may have about their health yourself. Dont rely on them for a professional answer, or to even care if they keep your business.

Our baby Tinker Belle had been holding a rear leg up. We wanted her seen. We are new to Elizabeth City and didnt know where to go. We stop at a vet clinic, they wouldnt see us, we didnt have an appointment. WHAT??? I have never heard of that (and I spent 14 years working as a Vet Tech). We went to Small Paws. They were more than happy to fit us in. The staff and Doctor Temple were wonderful. This clinic has all our future business. If you have a fur baby I highly recommend Small Paws.

We have taken our pets here to be seen by Dr. Temple and her staff for years now. They always give top notch care for all of our animals. Not only are they friendly and have a great sense of humor, but they are super knowledgeable as well! I highly recommend them! They are even open on Saturdays as well!
