We had the best dog ever. Her name was Nizi (Leibniz Hedwig) She was the most beautiful black and tan smooth mini dachshund youve ever seen. Nizi was nearly one month from turning 12 years. She was our singer. She started at the beginning of a song and stopped at its end. She loved the Redskin song and Christmas music. She also recognized melodics (different scales.) She sorted toys and reminded me to get the keys, mommy and get your purse, mommy when we were going for a ride. She was well and playing one day and dead two days later, thanks to negligence at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital. After vomiting 11 times and rocking from one foot to the other to let us know she was dizzy, we took her to see a vet at this hospital. We told them we wanted them to euthanize her. An X-ray was performed which indicated an enlarged heart (she had a heart murmur) and an enlarged liver. The doctor said they could treat the liver and her heart had been under treatment for years. So we were given hope. They placed her on an IV and a diet supposedly of only chicken and rice. The next day we went to see her and there were 3 bowls of different kinds of dog kibble. I had bought chicken and rice baby food but it was still sitting on the shelf. Nizi was not eliminating any waste and was not drinking her water. The food was untouched. I also bought her milkweed - an herbal treatment good for a failing liver. That, too, remained on the shelf. We were told she would be allowed to spend another night gratis. We loved on her and removed the bowls of uneaten kibbles. I put some of the chicken and rice on my finger and placed it on her tongue. She swallowed that and I gave her a little more. After a few minutes she pointed her nose at her water. She loved ice water and was a big drinker. I requested from an attendant some ice for her water. I was told they dont have ice! Finally Nizi drank the room temp water. Still, like fools, we loved her and left with some hope. We lived in Lusby - a distance away on a four lane highway. I was driving and my daughter was with me. I received a call from the vet who blurted out that Nizi had passed. They failed to euthanize her. When I complained to Dr. Ramsey, she said, "Well, she was 12 and dogs often pass at that age." I explained to her that dachshunds have a life span of about 20 years. My first one lived 18 years. Dr. Ramsey offered to pay my money back. I still would refuse the money. I just want my little dog. Please read this and be aware that there is no communication from doctor to doctor to attendant. If your pet is seriously ill, you need to seek better care elsewhere. There were no instructions on the crates about diet or medication. We continue to grieve for our little friend, though she was always outstanding at communication. She still lets us know each holiday when she is around. Her little spirit still lives, just in another form. And yes, we have another furkid of her breed. He is our fifth mini dachshund. We have belonged to a dachshund club and assisted at AKC shows. Just as we had approval from a friend, an AKC judge, in selecting Nizi to bring home, he and one other AKC judge helped us in bringing a new puppy home again. He is nothing like our Nizi - there are no replacements or factories for cranking out our beloved furkids. But please, be very careful where you go for pet care on the peninsula. I rated at one star, but that is because I could not post otherwise.

My little girl was having trouble breathing this morning and PFAH got me in right away. They were caring, efficient and we were seen quickly. Though the results of the exam were hard to hear, Dr. Ramsey was very thorough and very compassionate. And I was not charged an arm and a leg, which, as an animal rescuer with a lot of pups I truly appreciated. As sad as I was, I was very pleased and appreciative, and will be back to see Dr. Ramsey. Thank you.

Great Drs and Staff. They always try to meet our needs. They do communicate very well what they recommend and never try to "push" unwanted treatments. I rely on PFAH to take care of our three brats from the 11yr old "oldtimer" to the 1yr old baby

My girls (2 dogs) get good care by friendly staff here. The prices seem to be a little cheaper than our previous vet in Solomons. My only criticism is that we seldom see the same vet from one appointment to the next.

Been with this vet for years. I moved an hour and a half away and I STILL choose to take my pets here. Ive never met a friendlier and more trustworthy staff. 10/10 would recommend.

The whole staff from the receptionist to the veterinarian were very kind and respectful during a most difficult time when I had to put my cat down. Many thanks to them.
