I had a horrifying experience with Banfield in Williamsburg. I took my kitty in to get a lesion looked at and the Vet said that normally she would sedate an animal and clean the lesion, but didnt have time to sedate my kitty that day. So, they took her back to look at it and clean it WITHOUT the sedation. I could hear my kitty screaming all the way in the exam room. Then the vet brought her back in and said they had to mark her chart as aggressive, because she growled and tried to bite them. Well, hello if someone tried to clean a large wound on me without any sedation, or numbing agent, I would growl too! How very mean and inconsiderate that was of the Vet. They also handled her in a very rough way. She is so tiny and I am very careful when I pick her up. The Vet said she was trying to grab her by the scruff. Then they charged us for a liquid antibiotic. After we paid the fee, the Vet tech informed us that they were out of it and prescribed antibiotic pills which were $22 cheaper. We returned 2 wks later for a recheck and waited 40 min. but never saw a Vet, so we left. We returned to get the $22 refunded and get my kitties records, because I would never feel comfortable with their services again, and much to my surprise...they said in her records that the OWNER REFUSED to have her sedated to have her lesion cleaned, which was a lie. They also had the WRONG MEDICATION recorded in her chart. I called the manager to tell her what had happened, and she screamed and yelled at me and said she couldnt change the records. I tried to explain that I thought she should be aware of it all, but she screamed that they never should have refunded our money. Again, HELLO...they overcharged us! PLEASE DONT EVER TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO BANFIELD. THEY WERE INCONSIDERATE TO MY KITTY AND CAUSED HER ALOT OF PAIN. AND SOMEHOW, THEY THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE. I WILL NEVER TRUST THEM TO CARE FOR ANY OF MY ANIMALS AGAIN!

They are the biggest ripoff Ive ever seen. They make you think their plans are great and will save you money, but by the time you finish paying for your plan each year, youll have spent much more than if you had used a regular vet that doesnt overprice their services. They charge much more for an x-ray than many other vet offices do, then when they discount it, youre still paying more than if you had gone somewhere else. I find their level of expertise very low in comparison to other vets Ive used. They will also take advantage of certain situations to get you to upgrade your plan without explaining to you the full details of the plan. For example, my service dog started having dinner issues with heavy breathing, lethargy, not wanting to eat as well as some neurological issues. He needed to have an x-ray but since they had previously done an x-ray on his plan for the year, they were going to charge me an exorbitant prices even with their plan "discount". After finding out that his problems may be the result of cancer, they recommended we take him to a specialist. We went to Andersons Corner veterinary animal hospital, and with everything they did, including rats and an ultrasound, my bill was much lower than just their x-ray costs, and these guys were specialists. I will NEVER take my animals to Banfield animal hospital again.

I would give them zero stars if that was an option. I am on their wellness plan mainly because I travel a lot and there are bandfields everywhere I go. For this specific location, they say walk ins are welcome but if its an emergency dont expect them to squeeze you in. The reason I am posting this is because my two year old dog just had a comprehensive exam. The dog was picked up and paid for with no concerns mentioned. When I get home to read over his paper work there were about 5 items that were "not normal" so I did some research online and found some of his numbers were off the charts. The notes section for each was left blank. The next time I had a chance I stopped by to speak to them and get more information and they were in a meeting. I had the option to wait 15 minutes or have them call me in a couple hours ("if not tomorrow"). After I receive the information I need I will be canceling my plan due to them not truly caring about the health and wellness of the animals they see.

A WONDERFUL PLACE Both of our companion animals, our 8-year-old rescued cat Tess and our 6-year-old rescued long-haired Dachshund mix Rafe, are cared for by Banfield. We have had many companion animals, and they have never been cared for more professionally and kindly than at Banfield. The preventive care on the year-long plan is exceptional. I was just there this morning, and every person from the receptionist to the vet was kind, courteous, thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. In fact, there had somehow been a mix-up in our time--my husbands fault, not theirs---and the vet made time to see Rafe anyway. I cant say enough good things about Banfield, especially after having spent thousands of dollars at other vets in town for services that are now included in our $500/year plan. Everyone was so sweet to Rafe as well, and they seemed to love him even more when because they knew he was rescued from a shelter. These people are lovely.

We had to bring in our kitty for an eye problem. I choose Banfield for the wide range of hours, but getting a same day appointment was impossible. My husband took our cat in and was turned away because he didnt have vaccination paperwork. As a new client, I was hoping that the clinic would have let us know, before we arrived. 40 minutes later he returned to a vet that was too scared to even look at our kitty. (He growls and hisses.) They wouldnt even take him out of the carrier to weigh him properly. The vet then prescribed a $40 medicine at a point when our cats condition started to clear up. After all the hassle, and lack of service, I would NOT recommend taking your pet here.

I dont care what the bad reviews say. These people are super friendly. My puppy is super hyper and they still manage to calm him down and get the job done. When I walk in they all know his name and give him the attention he wants. Great people and great service! Enough said!

Regular customer. Staff is friendly and medical care is good.. But communication at front desk is often lacking, can be inattentive to customers waiting out front, and extremely slow checking in and out.

This Banfield is wonderful. Everyone on staff is super friendly. I go all the way up to Williamsburg from Newport News just to see them. Plus, the wait to get an appt in Newport News is about 4 weeks.

Not big fan of Newport news bf. But Williamsburg vets are great and very kind. The nurses are very helpful as well.
