I can only begin to explain, how glad I am to have discovered Southdale dental. Moving to the twin cities a few years back, I wanted to find a excellent dental practice and didnt really know where to start, hit the web and heard nothing but great things about this place. Recently, I had an experience that I think truly shows I made the right decision. Due to an upcoming surgical procedure, my doctor informed me to get a dental checkup/cleaning as soon as possible. I had an appt. scheduled with Southdale, but it wasnt till later in the month. Under stress to get to the dentist as soon as possible, I called around to some other dentists to see who had the first availability, got ahold of Park Dental in Bloomington. During my conversation with park dental, I made it clear I needed a cleaning and check up to be completed in the same day they found me an appointment that next week which worked out. Upon visiting Park Dental, my hygienist informed me "we were only doing x-rays today," and that after x-rays we could find a date later in the month. Obviously some scheduling mistake had taken place, I had even taken required pre-med before the exam, which now seemed to be a total waste of time. I talked with the office manager about the situation to see if anything could be done. The Park Dental office manager eventually found an opening in their schedule the next day which would work, but not be ideal (Id have to take premed again) she went back to talk to other staff/the hygienist, and then came back to say. "Because we never did x-rays today, were not going to be able to get into that slot tomorrow." I said, "ok, can we do the x-rays now then?" to which she replied "we dont have time to do them now because the hygienist has to prepare for her next appt in 20mins." Ok... anyone whos been to a dentist knows how incredibly long and drawn out dental x-rays are right? (sarcasm) I was flabbergasted and very upset...x-rays take prob a total of like 5mins max and we had wasted all that time talking about the situation without addressing any concerns or needs I had. Basically it came down to: "it looks like THEY made a mistake, theres nothing I can do, looks like I COULD have done something but now I cant." Very flustered, I drove to Southdale dental to explain the situation and see if something could be done. Talked with one of the office members in charge of scheduling, she listened to my story with empathy, talked with some other staff and found an opening for me, within a couple hours. WOW, blown away. What I was asking for was incredibly last minute and a long shot to say the least. She then came out and said "we can see you in 10 mins." While no one on the staff admitted to it (instead choosing to be humble), I know the the staff had to have cut their lunches or breaks short, and prob change up their whole day, maybe even staying later than normal just to accommodate me and my unique situation. I am very grateful for my hygienist Sara for making the sacrifices she did to help me out and to Dr. Mehta (who had left and returned from off site) just to see me. In addition to all of this above and beyond service, Sara and Dr. Mehta we both very down to earth, not too "preachy" but instead genuinely cared about my dental health. I learned my lesson in trying to look around to whoever could see me first, the level of service and care Ive received from Southdale will keep me coming back for years to come. If youre looking for a dentist with excellent quality AND personal, empathetic and human treatment this is the place for you.

Im amazed at all the 5-star ratings here - even mine - and for a dental office! I know zero people who enjoy visiting the dentist, and we all know why. I was looking for a place to be comfortable with the staff as well as the environment and the services performed. For the most part, this is a perfect place to go at those times when you must go, as it has a large waiting area offering spread-out seating and a great variety of reading matter. The layout of the treatment rooms is typical, but also very comfortable, as you cannot see the work going on behind you. Its on the top floor, so its definitely a great view from nearly any vantage point. Dr. Healy is always of good humor, enthusiastic and friendly, and treats me with great respect and displays his obvious dental chops though interactive and thorough discussions about what needs to be done, and why. Hed make a great TV dentist or brother in law. Or both. The dental assistants are all friendly and very capable. The hygienists do their jobs with typical focus, seriousness and offering continuing concerns about the need to floss and to brush longer and more often. The front desk is a typical this-is-a-place-of-business reception, showing focus and stress when the waiting room is full of stressed people, but becoming very friendly and interactive at the end of the day when its not. So being of a certain age, Ive been to dentists all over the country and for many years. And my ideal place to have dental procedures of any kind performed is.. right here at Southdale Dental.

Laura is a wonderful hygienist. Very gentle, friendly and professional. I have a real problem with plaque and bridges. Need to keep on top of things. Laura always gives me a thorough cleaning using modern technology. Water blast verses a lot of hard scraping. But, regarding your dental health, shes is a straight shooter. If I have problem areas, she will point out what needs to be addressed and the best things I need to do to fix things, to avoid a more serious issue. Shes really helped me improve my dental health. Highly recommended. Dr. Healy is my dentist, Hs great too. Helped resolve a molar issue that I had a couple years ago. When we discussed options, he did a good job of discussing the pros and cons. You felt like it was a peer to peer discussion vs a lecture from on high if you know what I mean. Dentist at my prior clinic was not very transparent and I didnt like feeling like my treatment was not in my hands. Totally the opposite with Healy. Also highly recommended.

My family (including our 6 year-old and soon our toddler) have been patients of Dr. Mehtas for several years, and weve never had less than a terrific experience. Hes incredibly professional, thorough, and has excellent bedside manner. He always takes the time to make sure you understand and are comfortable with any procedures, and is always cognizant of your comfort level. I would highly recommend Dr. Mehta to anyone looking for a dentist they will be able to trust for years. And not to forget the front desk staff and hygienists who are also very professional and always do a wonderful job. While in the office you get the sense the entire group enjoys working together, which I think is indicative of a successful practice you would want to choose for your care.

I am a 67 year old woman who has had a stroke, has high blood pressure, periodontal disease. My previous dentist told me I would have to have a note from my doctor in order to be treated at her office.I looked for another dentist, and my sister in law reccomended Dr. Mark Bettes. He is the best dentist I have ever had.He listened to my situattion and carefully made a plan. It turned out that all of my teeth had to be pulled, and he made dentures for the top and bottom of my mouth.I was hysterical about this news, he was kind and patient with me, a difficult patient.More important, the dentures and care I received was top notch.......dare I say thatI have even been known to laugh at appointments because I trust him and can relax!
