I am out of country. My daughters beloved dog gets severely ill with " renal failure" as seen by newbie vet Dr Garcia. The receptionist pressured my dental student daughter for 350.00 while she is distressed and crying. She refused to let us talk to Vet when we are both doctors about our dogs condition. We have been a client there for some 20 years all bills fully paid at time of service. We were not in country and not sure our credit card would work but have always paid for services at point of service and had a zero balance, always. The lack of compassion shown by front desk " Renee", refusal to let a doctor talk to doctor, and watch my daughter crying while demanding money, was just unbelievable and this clinic is just not the same caring place we use to know. "Renee told my daughter she was pressuring her for payment due to their records showed we had not been there in 2017, only 2016. The last visit was some 8 months prior when our beloved dog was euthanized. Did she expect us to bring in his ashes for an current evaluation history? Our other pets have been seen by other established vets due to us traveling and have multiple homes, they have forwarded records. She refused allowance for us to converse with vet even thought my husband is a renal failure specialist. " Renee was only about money money money and showed NO compassion for my crying daughter. We have always had a zero balance, paid for services at time of service, just happened to be out of country at this appointment time. My vets loved in past at Sunset Clinic I learned are no longer there and this is NOT the same Vet clinic it use to be. So disappointed, its sickening. No compassion, money grubbing, no allowance Doctor to doctor conversation and have been a fully paid client for 20 years; had just been there within last 9 months to put a beloved aged sick dog of ours to sleep. Truly disappointed. Going to find another vet, continue with other vet Dr Nadiar in Austin and expose this place as uncaring and changed,; they are only about " Give me give me give me" to a child trying to help her pet when parents out of town. Even tried to call back to see if I could give a credit card to honor their non point of service visit and call went to voice mail. A sick, uncaring place now all about " money and lack of compassion" to my daughter. My regular vets have left, and I am leaving too. I dont treat my personal medical patients this way and insulted by this clinics " Renee " front desk representation of " no compassion" only money money money, all the while experiencing a very upset daughter who just found out her dog is slowing dying. Shameful. Drs Tom MD and Carolyn Stanford DNP Board Certified Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Not a caring place.

I had a gravely ill beloved family cat, and the vet whom I had taken her to for 8 years did not return my call, even though I confirmed she had received the message. I was distraught, and went up to Sunset Canyon Vets when they opened. The staff there was warm and compassionate, despite dealing with new software, and ushered me into a waiting room right away. Dr. Kotzur examined my dear kitty and confirmed my worst suspicions. He told me of some possible treatment options, but did not sugar coat anything. When I decided it was best to put her down, he was very sympathetic and supportive, and he and his vet tech were wonderful. The first thing Dr. Kotzur said to his tech when I brought my kitty in was, please go get a towel for her, we dont want her lying on the cold table. I will now bring my remaining pets there. I was glad that my kitty was attended to in a warm, respectful manner during her final moments. The only improvement I might suggest is a separate entrance or waiting area for cat owners. There were a few yappy small dogs when we came in, and I know it stressed my very sick cat a bit. But I am grateful that SCVC was there for us.

My wife and I moved from Austin to Dripping Springs 4 years ago. Since that time we have taken our cats to Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic and we usually deal with Glen Portie, DVM who is super with cats. He is always thorough, kind, very clear with his comments and suggestions for care, etc. Today we took our 15 year old cat to SCVC as we knew we were approaching the time when the cat would need to be put down. We were still not sure what our decision would be, but after a thorough exam of the cat, Dr. Portie was, as usual, kind, caring and compassionate and completely explained the situation with our elderly cat and what our options were. He allowed my wife and me time alone to make a decision, and we ultimately decided to put the animal down. Dr. Portie performed the task in a kind, compassionate, and caring manner in a way we felt certain that our beloved pet passed away quickly and painlessly. We trust Dr. Portie and all the staff at SCVC with our animals, and we have never been disappointed with their service. A top notch vet clinic with a caring staff. Thank you.

I have used Sunset Canyon for over twenty years now. In that 20 years I have cared for 9 animals 4 cats and 5 dogs, all but one cat and one dog are gone. I trust the doctors at Sunset with the most precious things I have ever had. They have been kind to my babies and wonderful to me. They have bent over backwards to meet our needs. The last few years we moved 3 towns over from the clinic and I drive my animals to the only vets they have ever known. The round trip is approximately 150 miles and worth every penny of it. Sunset has always been less expensive than any place close to me. Enough of a savings to make the driving worth while. So, the services and doctors that can not be beat and add in the savings. I would not think of using anyone else.

Your office was recommended to us when we recently moved to Dripping Springs, in the few visits we have been there I can tell you that we will not be going anywhere else. We recently had a scare with our 5 month old bullmastiff puppy. We had to make that dreaded call all vets and doctors hate, the early morning, weekend panic call. We were met at the clinic by Dr Portie and Valentino was treated with the utmost care and concern a vet could give. Not only was our concerns addressed , we also got a follow up call from your clinic and also Dr Portie. We know we found the right place for our animals. Thank you again Dr Portie

The folks at Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic are always very attentive and helpful with my furry family members. I have been taking my pets to Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic since they first opened. We have had deaths in the furry family, and the doctors and attendants at the clinic have always been very helpful, kind, and sympathetic. I know that my pets get the best medical care possible at the clinic. They genuinely love animals and always remember the idiosyncrasies of each furry family member. Every single one of my dogs has been enthusiastic about seeing the vet. They are amazing with animals!
