I like this place but it is not perfect. I take two cats there sometimes because it is very close to my house. You do not need an appointment--just show up and wait with everyone else. This can be a great thing. But it depends on when you end up going. They are no-nonsense and efficient, and they do not rip you off with inflated prices for Rx and service. Which is very nice. But they are very rigid. For instance, one of my cats is a bit over weight and has long hair. The combination make it very hard for her to groom herself well. This vet will not trim her hair for me because they said they "are not groomers". But my cat gets urinary tract infections from this, so I think this issue falls under health. The vet can not grasp this simple cause and affect. I dont ask for a full grooming as if she were a show cat, and groomers will not accept her because she is feisty (but they vet says she is no problem). I really do recommend them. But understand how they work so that you are prepared. UPDATE REDACTED: I have deleted a story about bad service I had, but they rectified it--and then some. Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone owns up to it. But a tip: do not sit in the waiting room out of view of the desk, if you can. [I might think less of this clinic if I had not experienced a truly awful vet (South Branch Pet & Bird Clinic--That place is dirty & run down, the vet was kind of weird, and they inflate prices).]

It started well with this vet but as they got more popular and busy we just cannot get in there and get out of there quick enough to make this office be feasible for us. I spent the last 2 times I brought our pets there 2 + hours. The no appt. policy works well for some people who can do hijinks related to driving there and leaving numbers and leaving, coming back, etc. it does not fit our lifestyle. The vet care seemed average to above average depending on the vet we got that day. Most of the vets were above average. The one thing we absolutely hated and we made it clear very gently at first but after a year and half of no changes made to their policy it made leaving even easier-their horrible use of mind numbing room fragrance products. We mentioned it and mentioned it and then after 5 times the person said "Hmm no one has ever mentioned that" which made me mention it every time more firmly and can you tell the office manager ("she is the one who likes it and buys them" they told me). Then can you tell the Vets I think it is bad for our and our pets health? Not sure they ever did-very unresponsive. It is overkill there-you can smell it in the anteroom before you can even get into the clinic. Every exam room has a plug-in. It is nauseating for all of us in our family and now as I predicted many are saying these products are a health risk.

Starting out, I must say that nearly every 1-star review was from a customer that could have prevented the problem in the first place, or chosen to deal with it in a more positive, actionable manner. I challenge people to rule out low information pet owners on a crusade who paint foul language into their review. Thats disgusting and Ive flagged the user. Saturday was my first experience. Without getting detailed, I am a cat owner. Both of my cats were having issues -- one of them very sickly -- and now they are both good and well. The walk-in process went well. I got there at 8AM. The follow-up visit I made later that day took 45 minutes to wait. Anyone here thats complaining about "continuity of care", or lack thereof -- maybe you ought to check in at the desk for your Doctor and wait like the rest of us!! I like Dr. Scroggs. And I see that he is taking a pro-active approach to managing the clinics social media. That alone, in and of itself, separates him from others. Then you read the content of his posts, and understand how much he cares. I went there because I live in the neighborhood. I strongly suggest you consider this clinic for the care of your loved pets. Theyre good people.

Maybe it is just the person at the desk. We had our dog spayed here today and one they told me one price and told my husband a different price when he dropped her off. Second they gave her a shot that I did not want her to have. It is the same with my child, if I do not think it will benefit her and it could cause harm then I am not going to give it to her. Third, when I called to check on her they told me that this is an everyday precedure and was rude. Well all surgeries can be dangerouse when you dont know how someone is going to act to g.a. Forth, they never offered her water from 7:30am until I brought her home around 4:30pm. Fifth, they gave me two med and because the person at the desk was so busy trying to talk to a vet and someone else she did not tell me about the 2 med and of course they brought out my baby and she was so happy to see me that I forgot to ask about them. I have 2 friends that uses this place and well they rave about it and I dont get it. Maybe is depends on the nimwit at the front desk. I would have loved to talk to a vet, someone that has some knowledge but I did not have that option. I now have to find a new vet. Any recommendations?

horrible experience. dishonest staff told me to show up when they open at 8am and get on wait list and I will save lots of money b/c they do not take appointments, I get there and am told 40 minute wait. There were 5 people in the waiting room, after an hour and 40 minutes I inquired how much longer and they said there are 4 pets in front of me that arrived obviously after I did. They misrepresented when I phoned them to bring my dog in for a well check and they lied when I showed up. All they had to say was this is not a good place if you are looking for a new vet that takes new patients for dog well checks on a saturday morning. How in the world would this be a good experience for an animal on its first visit to sit in a crowded waiting room and be stressed out. Just save your self the bull they tell you, I talked to someone in the parking lot that said their services are not any cheaper than a vet that respects your time and your pets well being. They lost my trust and respect and wasted my morning. 5 thumbs down. Poorest experience ever - I have lived in Austin 37 years always had animals, my vet retired what a rude awakening I got.

Take your pet there for shots and easy check ups. Any actual issues take to a more qualified vet. This place killed my cat. They wanted to put her down and did little to help. My cat was happy and without pain; and died due to vomitting and dehydration. I spoke with a different vet in the area about my cat after she had passed and he was very sorry to inform me of a medication that would have resolved the issue, and other options. He reviewed the records and symptoms for free. He did not have very many good things to say about them as far as actual clinical practice. I am not trusting them to even fix my dog. I am going some place else for that, I DO NOT trust these people with pain control and anesthesia. Great place for shots. They over charge for flea/tick/heartworm meds. Please, take your loved one to a different place for anything slightly serious; if it goes a tiny bit south they will want to put your pet down, and not talk about all the options. They do have very nice staff and they will call you. Despite it all, they really are a nice group of people; the practice is just ill focused.
