Pet Doctor 911 is a veterinary clinic located in McAllen, Texas. It operates 24/7 and offers emergency services for pets. The clinic has garnered a rating of 2.5, indicating mixed reviews from clients.
One reviewer expressed disappointment with the clinic's sanitation practices. The doctor did not wear gloves or wash hands before examining a stray cat with a broken leg. The reviewer also criticized the doctor's approach to wound care, stating that the doctor planned to bandage the infected leg without cleaning it first.
Another review highlighted a lack of compassion and poor communication skills from the staff. The reviewer had brought in a puppy suffering from Parvo and was met with an argumentative vet who delayed treatment to discuss lawn care and bleach usage. The reviewer felt that the vet prioritized lecturing over immediate medical attention.
A third review criticized the clinic's response time in emergency situations. Despite calling ahead and informing the clinic that their dog needed immediate oxygen support, the reviewer had to wait almost three hours before their pet was attended to. Unfortunately, the pet did not survive, and the reviewer blamed the delay for the tragic outcome.
Another reviewer was dissatisfied with the clinic's billing practices, stating that the clinic seemed more focused on generating a large bill than on providing necessary treatments. The reviewer felt that the clinic took advantage of pet owners by charging for services that were not clearly explained or justified.

Pet 911 review!! Please Share To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I have sooo many complaints with what I saw wrong I dont know where to begin. So I will go in order as I saw them. First, Dr Petrohan came in, didnt glove up or wash her hand and grabbed the stray cat we brought in ( even after we told her he had a broken leg that was infected and oozing). So coming from a medical background Im thinking to myself...what contamination from the last animal did you just bring in, and what bacteria from this animal are you going to take to the next pet you see? She did well inspecting the cat, until she came to the leg. She gave it a cursory glance and rattled off some options. Most likely it was going to need an amputation, but we needed to get several tests done beforehand. ...This was all fine, but I would need a few days to see if we could raise money to pay for the services. In the meantime I asked about antibiotics and cleaning and bandaging the leg. She said she would sell us the antibiotic and bandage the leg. I asked her how would she clean the leg, and she said she was just going to bandage it!?!?! Now once again my medical knowledge for treating humans came into play. If you bandage a dirty wound all that will happen is that you simply trap more bacteria in there and can make it worse because the bandage then prevents the pus from oozing out. So basically this "DR" has no idea about aseptic techniques or doesnt think it applies to pets...or the very lease strays that people are trying to help. The last thing that irked me about this place was when I said to just bill me for the visit and I would take care of the cat just give me a prescription for the antibiotic because you guys charge $12 more than it would to get it at walmart. I was told that the doctor could NOT write a prescription!?!? What a joke! SO if I refused to pay for an overpriced medication they were selling she was going to deny me the RIGHT to get my medication for the cat filled somewhere else where I could get it at a REASONABLE price. And then to top it all off, I wasted 3 hours to go thru this entire endeavor. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

i would give this place ZERO stars if i could. Seriously, went here for an emergency to put my animal down to save him from PARVO effects upon the prink of death..my puppy, Peanut, was literally whimpering and yelping in pain, clearly suffering from the horrid pain when Dr. Barbara Petrohan came in, and some emergency this was. She literally had an argument with my mother and I upon the lawn care of bleaching and lecturing us that we shouldnt had puppies when the disease was still around when we DIDNT know it was in our backyard to BEGIN with! we found out upon this liter that we saw the signs of parvo upon 3 puppies out of 9. MOST never got infected. 1 out of the 3 was dying, and all i wanted was him to be spared from the pain. But the vet just sat there and argued until she had the LAST WORD. as if she was ego stroking herself, instead, of being compassionate to spare my dog from his PAIN. By the time she was finally going to do the procedure, he was pretty much gone after 10 minutes of arguing with us upon the facts we already know. She should had done the procedure then came back to give my dead dog back to lecture us..NOT argue with us, and sent us to the back of the clinic, like he was TRASH, when we ere very upset how this was handled..My puppy was a very passionate soul..who comforted me, in licks, until his tongue literally became useless in the last steps of parvo, when finally, the vet finally decided to take him away. i am OUTRAGED. She should be fired from this. This hospital had lost all their compassion, ALL. This Examination Emergency is bunch of BS and i shouldnt had paid 80 bucks for something that was being treated as a check up appointment, especially disrespecting us upon what was needed to be done she should had done rather than what was needed to be said. i dont need a class lecture when we had a life-death situation. I can only take so much waiting, and doing all that paperwork should had been at the front, i respect from all the paperwork procedures needed to be done. BUT, that VET shouldnt had argued with us, when we had a dying puppy, who needed to be SPARED from his pain.

I took my dog there yesterday because my vet in Weslaco told me he was very sick and needed to be on oxygen because he had fluid his lungs. He called ahead of time to tell them. l was coming. When i got there I told the receptionist that my doctor had called because my dog needed to be on oxygen. She said i think one of the other girl got the call but here fill this out. She gave me a clip board with paperwork. I turned in the paperwork she told me we would be called. We sat and waited and waited all long my dog was having a hard time breathing. They finally took us to the back after 2 almost 3 hours later just for their vet to tells us he needed oxygen. After paying the 889.00 fee they took him to the back to put him oxygen and start him iv antibiotics meds. The last time i saw him was when he walked around the corner slow because he was out of energy. I left just to be called 20 minutes later to tell me my dog was not breathing and he need to entubated but his heart was still working but he was not breathing on his own. I turned back. 10 minutes later they called to tell me they were doing CPR on him and he was not responding. I was asked if i wanted them to continue. I told them no. I want someone to blame but mostly i blame my self i knew he was using accessory and i didnt pressure them to put him oxygen being a nurse is even worse because i felt i should have done something to help him and i didnt. I miss seeing him when i walk in my house. He will forever have a place in heart. Please is someone comes in to see the doctors their please asked why dont disregard them because your busy or you have scheduled appoints. I would let someone go head of me if there dog is critical ill and i know other will do the same. I dont want anyone to go through what my family is going through today!!

I would love to give this place a -5 stars but that is not on the list of options! If you love your pets DO NOT go here! its all about the $$$ the sign on the wall says it all ! (did you know its a crime to know you cant pay for your pets bill and have work done anyway.?? HUH? yea that is a sign on the wall they made it perfectly clear your PET does not matter only that you can pay the pets bill) they rack up a laundry of items that you cant prove if they actually did any of them just to generate a huge bill then say you have a buffer in the estimate in case it cost more then hammer you with extra fees on the way out the door all the while knowing your at their mercy, if my Vet would have been open to begin with & it was not a emergency and if I would have read the reviews on the web here I would have made a U TURN and went to the other vet down the road! and waited for them to open after lunch! this place is nothing but a money hole, that can only stabilize your pet and then send you to the real vet after they vacuum the money out of your wallet in the nearly $1,000 I spent to find out my pet had additional injuries that we told them about at the time but they didnt bother to inspect!! until the next day and wanted more money to TEMP fix that too!! "a $1,000 band-aid" I told them no thanks paid my bill and Im never setting foot here again!! oh and by the way its $100 to sedate your pet so they can treat them WOW! that is some insane extra fees not included in the original estimate hows that for a rip off!! I still have a injured pet and am out 50% of the money I will need to get her fixed by the REAL VET! unscrupulous and unprofessional people! taking advantage of pet parents just because they can!!!
