I have been taking my Boston Terrier here for a few months but I am never going back. Made an appointment for third round of shots, but prior to said appointment, she ingested a stick of sugar-free gum that did NOT contain the chemical xylitol which is lethal to dogs and naturally the vet refused to vaccinate and adamantly recommended hospitalization. As much as I care about my dog, I am in college and cant afford that sort of inflated vet bill so I held off on the hospital stay. What really upset me was the only advice I received from North 10th Street Animal Hospital was "Pet Doctor 911 is open 24/7 if anything happens, I can get you their number," and that office is expensive as heck. Luckily, my dog was alive the next day but still seriously unwell and lethargic and yelled and screamed in pain for hours on end. I couldnt watch my dog suffer any longer and took her to Animal Border Hospital in Weslaco because I thought maybe she WAS dying. Anyway, the vet there was straight up about her condition and bluntly assured had she eaten xylitol gum, she would have been dead within hours because blood sugar levels drop so low most dogs dont survive. Also, staff performed a fecal test and discovered bacteria in her intestines. I found N. 10th Animal Hospital response to my pets condition was quite ambiguous and vague because they did not advise what I could administer to comfort my dog or relieve pain and offered minimal support. During frantic times, especially for a first time pet owner, professional help and guidance is paramount because google can only provide so much. I am sure they figured my pet was going to die anyway without their hospitalization albeit I confirmed the gum ingredient list did not contain xylitol. Moral of the story: if you have a pesky pooch that eats everything they find make sure to only purchase sugar-free gum like Orbitz/Stride/Trident that DOES NOT CONTAIN XYLITOL.

I brought my pet in recently for vaccines. While waiting to pay I sat down because apparently the doctor never put in the charges. I waited for almost 15 minutes after my dogs appointment just to pay! As I was waiting the staff was giggling and discussing smoking out. While I may be older I am not naïve. I cleared my throat a few times to get their attention but it went unnoticed. The man at the front desk continuously flirted with the female receptionist and at one point he began to rub ones back. THIS IS DISGUSTING! I dont come to your clinic for a peep show. Leave that crap at home! It was uncomfortable to say the least. When I asked to speak with Smily I was told he no longer works here. Thats a shame because the staff he managed at the very least had manners. The new manager was not available. I tried calling and cant seem to get through. Anytime my friends call they complain they cant get through to speak with this new manager either. SHOCKER! Their customer service reviews arent so hot. As much as I love the doctors I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I refuse to spend my money at your business where employees openly discuss their drug use and openly grope each other in FRONT OF YOUR CLIENTS! I would much rather be overcharged at another clinic than sit through that again.

I didnt have the heart to put less stars. It was our first time at the clinic. I had to call and confirm the the time of the appointment, because noone called me. If they dont think they need to call at least send an email or txt message like everyone else. When I called, I had to call about 5x before someone answered. I take my pet for her appointment thinking they must be busy we get there and only two cars are up front. I walk in and no greeding to me nor my pet. I wanted to leave but my pet was very sick and needed to keep her appointment. We finally get called in and it was 30mins before we got seen for the 5min s that it took for the Dr. to tell me what was wrong. The Dr. was kind and great with my pet which is why I gave 4stars. Needless, to say I ended up with a big bill as a thank you. Silly me I tried calling them again for other services and once again its a process to get them to answer the phone. I really wish I had a better experience like the other customers that say its the best.

Were away from home and needed the services of a vet. We searched online and chose North 10th Street Animal Hospital based on the excellent reviews, and wed like to thank the reviewers for recommending them! We were asked to come in during walkin hours and were greeted warmly at reception. Within minutes we were in a room where a friendly and professional vet tech got the necessary background info. Minutes later Dr Horn did her exam; she was very thorough and very accommodating, answering all of our questions and offering an explanation as to why our pup has this recurring problem. She brought us back to the treatment area so we could fully understand what was going on. She even suggested that the lab tests we had asked for earlier were unnecessary, based on what she had found. We are so relieved to finally have an explanation as to why our dog has this problem, and its all thanks to Dr Holly Horn and her excellent staff. Thank you!

If you need to be ripped off, Lied to and treated poorly this is your Animal Hospital!!! I called to check on the price and make an appointment for my cat to have her front claws removed. I was told it would be $45 and was only done on Tuesdays. I have just returned from that appointment and the price was $455.40. If that wasnt bad enough I called before I left home to make sure everything was a go to pickup my cat. I waited through a couple waiting rooms full of people. It seems if you complain a bit they move you up to the pickup list of first come first served pickups. If you call they usually put you on hold although there are usually 2 or 3 people at the desk at all times. Its one thing to have a few add ons another to flat out steal peoples money. They also called to tell me that they made an error in the amount of pain medication they gave me for my cat. GOOD LUCK if you get hosed you were warned.

We have been very happy with Dr. Carson and the staff. We switched last year to have a vet closer for my senior dog and quickly decided to bring the other 2 dogs and cat to Dr. Carson as well. I appreciate that she is candid and straight forward about care options, answers my questions but respects my decisions, and she remembers us. Maybe not me but she knows the dogs names, which I totally understand. After 4 years with our previous vet, I felt like new patients every visit. With a large breed, senior dog that visits 3 times a year, that rubbed me the wrong way. Not Dr. Carson! She asks about him even when we bring the other ones. Cost wise, 10th Street is not a cheap vet but costs are average and within my expectations. Dr. Carson and staff have always been straight with me about costs and supportive of my decisions to source medications elsewhere when they might be cheaper.
