Having had a horrible experience with another Home Health Agency for my parents (the NA defrauded dads checking acct), I sought reviews and service from other agencies when my parents moved into Independent Living in a well respected retirement community. We decided on Bright Star, who had a good presence and reputation at this facility. Upon Meeting Karen and the rest of the staff, I felt much better about care for my mother. We did have a bit of a rocky start getting hours and needs established, but much of that was also due to my parents LTC insurance - who have stringent guidelines. Karen and her staff helped correct all issues and have made sure my parents are getting their needs met. The NAs who work with my mom are AMAZING - very personable and do a good job with hygiene and helping her eat. Since they have worked with her, mom laughs again, shows much less anger, and is much more animated than when they were still in their house. NO business is without some issues, but I found THIS group of Bright Star workers willing to work with my parents and myself (and the LTC insurance) to make it the BEST experience possible. I would recommend them.

My father is residing in an Independant Living facility. Bright Star Care (BSC) provides my father daily assistance so that he can remain independant. Our "contract" specifies that the aids will do a daily med reminder and make the bed. However, I find that the aids treat my Dad as if he were their own Dad. They remind him to change his cloths and shave every day that I am not there. They do the dishes, open the blinds and straighten up his apartment. Always pleasant, always a smile. My brother recently needed care in his home. I had to "fire" the original company he hired because they couldnt find regular coverage or the aids were a "no show". I called BSC and they had coverage that evening and for the following week that they were needed. Very reliable. Very professional. Thanks BSC for a job well done. L

When you have any kind of surgery, you need somebody to drive you, somebody to sit in the waiting room while you are in surgery, and someone to drive you home. This presents a problem for most people. BrightStar will take care of all of the above. The first time I used them, they had to pick us up at 4:30 a.m. in the pouring rain! They were on time, and had umbrellas! Last month my husband had open heart surgery with bovine valve replacement at the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC with doctors from Duke performing this long and complicated surgery. BrightStar caregivers provided us with transportation and comfort during this extremely stressful time. I will never have to worry again who is going to take me to surgery, and who is going to stay in the waiting room. The cost: Priceless!!!

The staff at BrightStar has been a great help and offered peace of mind as we work to keep our parents in their home. They keep us up to date on any issues that may arise. They are both friendly and professional. Even though our parents were reluctant to accept help initially, BrightStar worked through it and everyone has settled into a comfortable rhythm.
