George (Joe) Peters I had a good impression of TCH before, but now my impression is excellent. I came to the ER with severe back pain on 7/26/17 and was treated quickly and compassionately by Dr. Sanders and the ER Crew. I met with Dr. Michael Robinson, neurosurgery resident, and was referred to Dr. Mark Magner, neurosurgeon. I met the next day with his NP, Faye Smith, who spent an hour with My wife and me explaining my options. Once we decided on surgery we met with Dr. Manger, had a pre-op physical by Dr. Mark Robinson, our primary care physician, got cleared by my cardiologist, Dr. Greg Egnaczyk, and were scheduled for surgery on 8/7/17. I received excellent care from Kim in surgery prep; Dr. Collins, anesthesiologist; Dr. Manger, surgeon; and Melanie in recovery. The new Christ Joint and Spine Center facility is beautiful, modern, immaculately clean, and the panoramic view of the city from the fifth floor is better than any hotel in town. Even the hospital food was great! The care from the fifth floor staff was truly professional, personable, and excellent from: Kim, RN; Michael; Jenny, RN; Monica; Caitlin; and, Mariah, RN. Brian from OT and Laura from PT gave me thorough post-surgery instructions and Kayla was most pleasant wheeling me to the car. Thanks to all. If it hadn’t been for the surgery, this might have been a pleasant stay at a nice hotel. Thanks to all for the good work you do each day.

If I could Ive negative stars I would. We delivered our boy in late 2014. Few days later got a hospital bill and paid in full. 18 months later we get a bill for $5,500 from a collections agency saying we didnt pay another bill (our sons part of the L&D). Never received a bill, and our insurance company never received a claim from the hospital . We call Christ hospital and they refuse to talk to us, saying they transferred the account to collections and we had to talk to them. We call the insurance company and appeal, they say tough luck its been over 12 months since the claim. Not only did we pay 4,000 grand for the first bill in full the day we got it, we paid our sons premium on insurance for a full 6 months until we moved for jobs. Its criminal that their mistake has put us in this mess, not only financially but emotionally. It is unbelievable what can happen to two hard working people that pay all of their bills and do right. I doubt this review will do anything for us and Im sure they will not contact us. As we had insurance, we probably would have paid a couple hundred dollars but now we are faced with thousands. Its sad. I wouldnt recommend this hospital to my worst enemy

Ive had 2 disappointing issues with Christ Hospital indicating that the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. Their medical record keeping sucks. Regarding their Mammography department: I had to continually request that they correct my record indicating a previous issue in the RIGHT breast (not the left as they kept noting in my file). Evidently, every time I requested the correction, no one did anything. This went on for 2 years, then I got fed up & started going to ProScan. No problems at ProScan whatsoever. I was on the transplant list @ Christ for 3 years. The transplant team is a hot mess and I began to feel unsafe. Never got a potential match call from Christ in those years. I decided to be listed w/ Univ. of KY hospital in January. They approved me in March, I got my transplant in June & Im doing AWESOME. Christ couldnt hold a candle to the transplant team & caring staff at UK. Driving down to Lexington is so worth it compared to dealing w/ Christ hosp. Do yourself a favor and shop around for a hospital- you dont necessarily have to go wherever is closest. Investigate success rates of hospitals and honors/credentials of doctors & staff.

I had surgery to review a deviated septum on June 2 2017. The surgery went well and I have no criticism for the doctors involved. But the post-surgery care was non-existent. Very limited direction was given as to how to change bandages despite substantial bleeding and discharge. No direction to avoid drinking electrolytes to treat my dehydration due to avoiding water since midnight as I was having surgery. When I drank the electrolytes it was like drinking cut glass - incredibly painful. I have a very high pain threshold - I cannot imagine what a child would go through if they had drank what would be considered a good product to drink for dehydration. How could they not warn the patient? Because they have no accountability. No response to my complaints so far and well see if they will offer any reduction in their billings for their substandard treatment. But I went to Christ because of The Mercy Systems derelict offerings and billings so it appears the whole health system is infected with bloated and incompetent bureaucracies. Again - no problem with the doctors involved but the Christ Hospital staffing and procedures are pitiful.

Fourth Hospital stay Ive Had. I had a surprise diagnosis that no one wants to hear: severe Vericose veins And A Malignancy - A plum size tumor in the wall of my stomach that had infiltrated my Spleen and Pancreas but God was watching over me and Due to Dr. Hawley and the Oncology department along with the care of my primary care doctor M. Kalfas with the Christ Physicians Group, It was caught in Stage 1. My experience was scary but the care that received at Christ Hospital was exceptional, my pre-op testing and post-op care both. The Nursing staff couldnt have been better! They made me as comfortable as possible and were very positive and encouraging. If I ever had a medical need I will definitely be going back. You can say what you want but the ER was Fantastic. Yes i had to wait for a few hours the last time I was there but it was around 1:45 in the afternoon there and it was full of people ahead of me. Still the Best!! Just face it. If you have a bad experience here there may be another reason for that,,,,,,,,

A Christ doctor doubled my prescription for a very sensitive blood thinner without informing me. It resulted in my losing 7 pints of blood. I collapsed and almost died. Luckily, I ended up in the ER of another local hospital where I received a transfusion. When I recovered, I contacted Patient Services at Christ Hospital. They let the issue drag on for months and concluded things with a form letter saying the matter was closed. Heres the funny part. I had an appointment with the same Christ doctor the day that I collapsed. I made the appointment because I was feeling terrible but wasnt sure why and hadnt connected her with my condition. The doctors office called my mobile phone when I was in the ER to reprimand me about my missed appointment. My wife took the call and informed them what had happened. The doctors office representative said that they were going to wave my copay for the missed visit. That one made the ER doctor laugh. I too, wish I could give negative stars for Cincinnatis Christ Hospital.

Be careful with this hospital systems lab work. You may do your due diligence and ensure they are in your insurance network, but, they turn around and send it to pathologists for review who are not in your network. Guess what, insurance then denies your claim and you are left holding the bag. Woe betide you if you dispute this with the out of network pathologists office, who in this case was Greater Cincinnati Pathologists Inc., they will give you the run around and then send your bill to collections disregarding you are disputing the bill. While they may have a point that they were sent the results for review, both the hospital and their third parties should ensure they are not dealing with insurance for which they are not in network or, at the very least, advise the patient of this fact prior to working on it. This should not be in the fine print; it should be interactive. Very disappointed with a hospital that has Christ in its name.
