I would give this office a 0/5 if I could. We have taken our dog to the West Side Animal Clinic for the past 3 months in hopes they could give us answers as to what is causing his skin issue. His underbelly, groin, and armpits were broke out severely from him scratching and licking himself. The first visit they said it could be a food or environmental allergy, gave him antibiotics/anti itch and sent us on our way. His skin cleared up after two days on the medication but once he finished his meds it all came back, so we took him back. On the second visit they said it was a bacterial infection gave him more meds, and sent us on our way. (We also switched his food to grain free and keep him inside thinking he could be allergic to grass) After the third visit we had had enough. He broke out again and it was worse than the previous visits. They said they still think it was a food or environmental allergy and gave him more meds/antibiotics. This time I wanted blood work done to see if something would show up. When Dr. Horton examined him, talked to us, and left to go fill his meds but we realized she failed to check his ears and rectum. I asked the aid if she could come back in real fast. She left and came back and said the Dr. Horton checked them while he was getting his blood drawn. This was a complete lie because the aid took him back while Dr. Horton was talking to us and he returned while Dr. Horton was still talking to us. Also he had blood running down his leg from where the aid took blood. No wrap or anything. I called to get the results of the blood work the next morning and she said "basically nothing showed up,"...um okay?) So, all and all I am appalled with the service weve received here. The aids are very fast moving which has scared our dog a few times and they do not know how to handle dogs. The office is also very dirty and I would assume not sanitary since they do not wipe down tables in between visits and do not bandage animals when blood is drawn. We will be going to a dermatologists as our next step since he is still not fixed. We will not give this place anymore of our business nor should you. STAY AWAY!!

Even if this review is only up for a few days, maybe it will save the life of an innocent animal. Dr. Horton is very unprofessional and just plain rude. She talked down to me and even at one point in our conversation said "youre an adult, you can make a decision." She said this to me after I had to put my dog down due to complications after a surgery she performed. She promised me that my dog wasnt suffering but after bringing him home after a few days of him being boarded down at this clinic, it was obvious my poor baby was in pain and had been in pain the entire time. He was covered in his own feces since he unable to stand up. The surgery (to remove his spleen) left him paralyzed in his back legs. He tried his hardest to move and he was so perky otherwise. It was just awful having to make the decision to put him down but it was worse seeing him like this. Never once was I told any information about how dramatic this surgery was going to be or even the chances spleen tumors are cancerous, etc. She wasnt informative or sympathetic. Just all about the money in my opinion. If anyone down there cared about animals, they would have never left my dog suffering. Im just sick over this. The more people I talk to about this practice, the more I hear similair stories to mine. Please dont take your animals to this vet.

We had a pet puggle breed dog here for several years and had no problems, she was always properly checked and treated well. The one time we needed them the most they nearly killed our dog. Our puggle was having heavy breathing and hacking fits so we brought her in. They checked her and even did an x-ray. We were told it was just a build up of inflammation and gave us some meds for it. 2 days later our dog is on the floor barely able to breathe with a blue tongue. They werent open so we brought her for emergency treatment at another vet. It was discovered there was a large tumor in her throat preventing her from breathing and required immediate surgery or they would die. How can they have missed this? we called them to tell them what happened and how they failed at finding this with x rays but they either didnt care or didnt have the integrity to call back.

I have been taking our cats and dogs here for years and the prices are very reasonable. Over the years sometimes the front staff did seem a little cold but that has changed. The techs are great as well. I had a cat that was having issues urinating and they got him in right away in the morning when I called. Dr. Chapman was there on her first day and she was wonderful. So nice and upbeat and really cares about your pet. She did everything and had his meds ready and we were in and out in 30 minutes. She even called the next day to make sure he was ok and how he was tolerating the meds. No other vet had done that. I was impressed. The facility is not dirty like other reviews have said, yes it is an older building and has a hint of an animal smell but come on, why wouldnt it? I would recommend them to anyone.

This really is the best there is! Dr. Alford is an amazing man. His staff are all wonderful people. They are just caring and loving, and very helpful! My cats hate going to the vet. But once they are there, I think they can feel the love because they dont try to bite or claw anyone and they are calm. They really do care about their patients and the families as well. On Valentines Day both of my kitties received a valentines day card from them. It was very nice. Another wonderful thing, they dont charge an arm and a leg for services or care. If you want the special care and the love that a facility should give, West Side Animal Clinic is the place to go.

We took our lab mix there after having a bad experience at another local vet, our appointment was at 5:30, we got called back at 5:40 and didnt even get seen by the vet until 6:40, so we were there for over an hour. Our room was I guess a room that had the door to the back area where all the meds were, drs and assistants kept walking through, no one not once said anything to us, until my husband finally walked to the back and had to get rude with them! So unprofessional! Other animals were being seen before us even though we were there first. I give them a two star rating due to reasonable pricing. Not sure if we will go back or not!

I went to the West Side Animal Clinic for the first time last week and they were wonderful! I am newer to town and dont know anyone here to get a referral from so I came to Google to check reviews of all the local vets. This vet had the best reviews so I went in for a regular office visit and was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Alford was great! He was very kind to my cats, he let me ask questions and he gave me very in-depth answers. The rest of the staff was also very friendly and they had very reasonable prices. I ended up taking one of my cats back the following week for a declawing and she is doing great! I highly recommend this vet!
