UPDATE ... Since originally writing this review, there have been some developments. I have dropped this clinic from two stars to one because the infected "abscess" they thought my older cat had turned out to be cancer and it spread to her lymph node. If they had caught it when I originally went in to see them, it could have been removed and prevented further spreading. Now, however, it is pretty much a death sentence. So, NO! I will not call you. There is nothing to work out. First impressions DO matter. But beyond the impression you made, there is an issue of malpractice. You were so keen to run tests on everything else, but never thought to run a test on the lesion on my cats face. If I did contact you at this point, it would be by attorney. The veterinarian was kind and seemed to know what she was doing, so I give her 2 stars for that, but they did seem to want to run extra and unnecessary tests in order to help my cats. They wanted to give my Sr. cat blood tests before giving her any pain relief for arthritis. This was after they mashed on her legs until she howled to prove she had it. They wanted to give my younger cat an FIV test even though she is regularly vaccinated and her last test when we first got her two years ago yielded a negative result. During the blood test she cried as they put the needle in and then wiggled it back and forth until they found the vein. Ive had nurses do that to me and it hurts me too. My cats seemed a little more traumatized than usual. They dont offer three year vaccines which was a huge disappointment and kept stating to me over and over that my other cat which had the three year vaccines and was last vaccinated in February was overdue. When I called to set up the appointment, I told them my younger cat had been injured but it seemed to be healing nicely and she was also due for her vaccinations. I ended up rescheduling the appointment due to financial issues (which they made me feel extremely guilty about, and yet they did not offer to work with me) and the sores healed on their own. I was coming in to have them look at her sores and also to vaccinate her. When they called to confirm the appointment they told me they might not do the vaccines because of her sores.I would think more than anything we would WANT vaccines as soon as possible to prevent rabies or other communicable diseases! My biggest issue with the whole process was just the general vibe they exuded that they knew better than me regarding my animals. I have been a cat owner for 30 years, worked at a pet store and owned these particular cats since they were weaned in 2001 & 2013. They argued with me about what my cats medical records showed and tried to make my last vet seem incompetent. It took three of them to hold down my cats and trim their nails. They gave me disdainful and judgmental looks when I said I wanted my cats nails trimmed and yes I would still be letting them outside. They are indoor/outdoor cats!

I cringe that there is even one negative review for Middletown Animal Hospital. Ive taken my 2 German Shepherd Dogs to multiple vets trying to find a good match; Western Hills, Trenton, Krebs Kohler Minnix (Which none of those doctors are there anymore that I know of), and now MAH. The staff is the most caring group of girls I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They actually play and love on my girls even before the appointment starts. They (Including the Doctor) actually get down on the floor to treat them instead of putting them through the stress of lifting them onto a hard metal table. Yes they run every test imaginable and it can be expensive, but who cares!? I want the best for my dogs they are my family. If I couldnt afford it I wouldnt have them in my family. Im thankful for the entire staff and they will always take care of my girls. I recently recommended them to my friend for his dogs and he feels the same as I do.

My Son and I had a Dachshund with a terminal illness, being prostate cancer that within less than one month has mestastisized to his liver, stomach, spine, spleen, and finally to his lungs... We were in denial about our Dog, and got a second opinion concerning his condition. Dr. Neumann was spot on with her diagnosis, and we could not have been treated any better by anyone, this includes staff. We will never go anywhere else as long as she is around, as she is not only a great Veterinarian, but a thoughtful, personable, and extremely caring person. I wish that I could write a book on yelps page to tell her how much we thank her for her "overtime with our Dog, and the greatness of her staff! We absolutely Love her! Betty and Shawn Spicer. I had bought prescription cat food from Dr. Bremmer at Middletown Animal Hospital for the past eight years. The new vet at Middletown Animal Hospital will not sell me the cat food anymore without an office office visit to do urine and blood tests. The cost of this will be $237 (plus $75 for the bag of food). Too expensive for me. There is nothing wrong with the cat. If the cat was sick I would bring him in. I dont go to the Dr. myself unless I am very very sick, cant afford it. I can feed the cat regular food but he will eventually be in pain and start peeing all over the house. It is $110 to have the cat put down. Middletown Animal Hospital will euthanize the cat before selling me a bag of food without an office visit. It is just about the money for them. Find a different vet.

Dr rae is one hell of a great lady shes been vet since she bought the practice from Dr Bremer ,Needless to say today was another hard day for me i had to have my maine coon Chester put down today the girls that work with her are all very careing and always have a shoulder to cry on when a pet goes to the rainbow bridge, In 2012-2013 we had to have our 3 dogs put down dr rae again did what she does best comforts the owners and eases the pain of ur pet any one who says different. Go someplace else!! As for the prices just to walk into All about Pet care is $75 who can afford that we are on a fixed income and her prices are great ,,So on that note again I GIVE A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO DR RAE AND ALL HER STAFF AT THE ANIMAL HOSP ! I luv ur face Dr Rae!!!

Always have taken our pets here. The last couple years their prices have increased drastically. Use to be able to call and get a actual price on services. Called to get our kitten her 1st vaccinations and was told on the phone it would be about $60-70, total bill for two shots = $145. Around 3 years ago called to price a spay for our dog, was told it was $135 we ended up paying $135. Now they give "estimates". For our kitten a spay and declaw is estimated to cost $500 plus or minus $50. On top of their excessive prices they cant even give you a definite price. Go elsewhere unless you have deep pockets and like out of date facilities from the 1940s era.
