Dr. Smith and his helpers cared for our animals from 1984 when we got Rufus, our golden retriever, until I moved to VA in the summer of 2014. He treated Rufus until his death, actually sending his helpers to our home to treat him as Rufus could not climb the stairs, and my husband could not lift him. . Our cat, Blackie, was kept in the best of health even after he was hit by a car and had to have surgery on his hip removing one of the bones. Amazingly his body adjusted to this loss after the surgery (as Dr.Smith knew he would) and he could leap and run --and he did for years until he contracted cancer. Dr; Smith handled this difficult time so gently and thoughtfully- I will never forget how he sat on the floor with me after he had put Blackie to sleep and told me he would put him in a little coffin and would carry it out to the car for me - I would not have to check out nor did I have to speak to anyone. I was struggling to keep composed! We had boarded our pets with him every time we went out of town -so they all knew our pets well. With my current pets. Boo, my larger than usual Pomeranian, and Gabriel, my rescue cat, we received the same excellent care, considerate treatment, and expert advice on training and health. Family pets are almost as close to us as children and it is a great relief to find an excellent veterinarian to help us care for them. Now that I live on my daughter and her husbands farm in southern VA, I have had to find another veterinarian, but there will never be another Dr. Smith and his crew. If you live in their area, you are fortunate.. .

Jack and Louie are our four legged children and we always have a great experience at Powers Ferry Animal Hospital. PFAH was originally suggested to me by Jack and Louies breeder when they were just puppies. We were told that they are very familiar with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and their health risks, since Dr Smith actually has the same breed. Dr Meg (Dr Meg Wright) treats them like they are her own and Jack and Louie love her! Even though we usually try to see Dr Meg, you never know what might happen and Dr Meg may not be there! Jack got into some baby back ribs at a friends house and when PFAH did the ex-rays, there were sharp bone shards in his stomach that they were worried about traveling through his digestive track. Dr Berkowitz had to do emergency surgery and Jack recovered perfectly! The vet techs and front desk staff are SO friendly and knowledgable! They know that the first thing Jack is going to do is jump on the settee and knock over the treat jar! They take it all in stride! I would not take my pups anywhere else and believe their good health is a testament to the good work that PFAH does every day!! THANK YOU!!

I have been a client of Powers Ferry for over 16 years. I have been impressed in particular with the consistency of their practice regardless of the turnover that all vets offices can sometimes have. Regardless of the vet that you see, you will always get a wonderfully caring and attentive person whose abilities to diagnose and to treat are first rate. In addition to that, I have never felt that they have pushed unnecessary tests or services on me, and believe me, I have had needy animals! In particular though, I love Dr. Smith. His ability to treat the harder cases and to diagnose difficult to treat ailments is amazing. I have an 18 year old cat who was in a very difficult place physically. I had taken her to countless specialists at a point when I first got her. It was finally dr. Smith who figured out what to do to treat her. You will also get the follow up phone call or the call with test results at 7 or at 8 pm at night just because he feels it is important to let you know. If you are looking for a place that will treat your animals with the kind of love and compassion you hope for, this is the vet for you.

I dont even know where to start with this review. Dr. Meg Wright and the staff at PFAH are second to none. As a pet owner totally GREEN to the English Mastiff breed, I fully trust Dr Wright with King Marley and Queen Karley until she was taken from us at Georgia Veterinarian Specialist. During one of the roughest times in my life, 7 new born puppies and no job, when the pups had issues, the staff was very accommodating and when Karley was killed, Dr. Wright knew that I wasnt at ease with the lost or why and had me to bring Karleys remains to her for autopsy where she found that GVS (Dr. Cobb) had NOT done their due diligence to save her before putting her down. Later, long after Id started healing from the loss, I received a notice from UGA that Powers Ferry had made a donation to the Veterinarian School in memory of Queen Karley. Id even recommend PFAH to my undeserving enemies. LOL. They are a true class act, compassionate and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Meg Wright, veterinarian at Powers Ferry Animal Hospital Cassie (a 13 year old female Schnauzer) was seen on numerous occasions by two different veterinarians with unsatisfactory results. She was to be put down because she could not control her bowels while in the home. Before taking this drastic action, we took Cassie to Powers Ferry Animal Hospital. Dr. Meg Wright’s exam revealed that Cassie had a thyroid deficiency along with additional problems. Dr. Meg changed her prescription medication and food. The results were amazing and Cassie is still with us after nearly a year. She now has a pretty good life and will soon be 14 years old. We are fortunate to have found Powers Ferry Animal Hospital. We are especially thankful to have Dr. Meg Wright who is an exceptionally knowledgeable, accomplished and loving veterinarian. Thank You, Dr. Meg for being there for Cassie. WE LOVE YOU !!! Love this place!!! Very clean and nice atmosphere - doesnt feel at all like a clinic. Very large waiting area so I never feel crammed in with other dogs. That said, I rarely wait for long at all. They are prompt in taking me and the pup into a private room and a technician arrives right away to get the rundown on whats up. Something I absolutely LOVE is that they never perform any procedure in the room with me no matter how minimal. They take my dog to the back where the vet checks him out. Eases my mind considerably not to be present! Then the vet comes in with my dog to talk through it all. If there is any follow up the doctors are great about calling promptly, ensuring things are being handled in a timely manner, making sure you understand whatever is going on, etc.... They rock basically. GO HERE!!

Honestly? You wont find a better vet. I refuse to see anyone else for my pets. I was forced to put my dog of 14 years down, and Dr. Miller sat on the ground with us as we said goodbye to our Chevy. As my family and I cried over her, you could see him tearing up. He offered to get her paw print for us and handled our loss in an exceptionally kind and empathetic manner. When we asked about payment, he responded, "Nothing. We can make money other ways. It just wouldnt feel right to charge for something like this." A few weeks later, I received a letter in the mail notifying me that the hospital made a monetary donation to the UGA Veterinary School of Medicine in memoriam of our sweet Chevy. I cannot thank Powers Ferry Animal Hospital enough for their kindness.
