This used to be my vet simply due to convenience. First the good stuff. As stated before, convenience. Also, they were never straight out impolite or unfriendly and my dog liked them which is of course major. Bad stuff. This place is essentially a rip-off. I was lucky to be able to compare service and prices with Fifth and Kenny Animal Hospital (the best vet EVER, and I know what Im talking about) and they were grossly overpriced. Every single visit, or test was a good 30% mark-up from the other vet. They also dont analyze the samples there so you have to wait days to get the results, which is.. odd. Funny story. I adopted my dog from the shelter, found some worms in his business and took that particular business to this vet. They charged me $20 above what my old vet would have charged me and had me wait 3 days on the results (with a dog with worms) Then they called and told me that its clean and my dog is worm free. So I point out that I actually saw the worms and the lady told me that, well they would have put him on dewormers anyways. Hm... There were other times when they straight lied to me, and when I pointed it out to them they varied their statement within the lie, it was very uncomfortable. He had received all his necessary vaccinations at the shelter and only needed a booster for a couple. They wanted to give him 3 vaccinations that he no longer needed although they had his file and wanted to give him 2 sets of boosters on top of the one he needed. Had I not called the shelter and my old vet to confirm I would have been out of hundreds of dollars and would have pumped my dog full of medication he didnt need. And there was that time when I wanted to order his heartworm medication via 1800PetMeds and they refused (they HAVE to let me order it if they have the record of his heartworm test on file, which they did) so they put me on hold for, yep, 25 minutes. Miserable, miserable experience. They did always treat my dog well, so thats why I give them 2 stars, rather than just 1. Cheers.

I had actually just posted a very nice review. Until I got to have a horrible experience. My one dog went to the Mill run location, I moved, and I had a new dog go to this location. They would do NOTHING for my other dog unless I paid the $70 for them to see him. And literally, I wanted them to do a fecal examination. POOP they do not need to see a dog to look at their poop. If he needed medicine, then I can understand to make sure its correct to his current weight. But poop? They dont even know if Im bringing his poop if I bring him! Then I had a woman tell me my one dog had giardia, which is why I wanted the fecal done on my other dog. That wasnt true, he doesnt have it. Then I had them tell me that since I had an appointment for my other dog in two weeks they could do the fecal, that also wasnt true. They dont trust the doctors from other VCAs. Her explanation was "Its the under the same corporation, but different doctors" and I told her "Thats like saying that I cant return something to Sears on the East side because I bought it at a different store" Then she went on to say shes looking out for the safety of my pet to insure unneeded tests arent being ran. Again, POOP its out of his system! Its not like harm will be given to him by me taking his poop from the yard and giving it to you versus putting it in a bucket. If Im willing to pay the $80 to have you SHIP IT TO THE SAME DAMN COMPANY MILL RUN SHIPS IT TO then ship it! That company has seen his poop! They havent seen the dog, so why do you need to? I really can understand for a prescription that they would need to see him. They said they could ship out the poop only if I came in for the results, I said that was fine, but would I be charged the $70 office fee and they said yes. I said that was bullshit because they told me the results OVER THE PHONE for my other dog. Granted, the results were WRONG because they cant read the chart I guess. Im going to try Petlovers, theyre reviews look nice

The staff is nice but policies are subpar. I was told by a technician that vaccines were 1/2 on tuesdays. Staff waited to tell me that since my dog didnt have an exam that the vaccines would not be half priced. Mind you we were there the day prior (monday) because i had noticed worms in his feces and paid for an exam- among other things. They claimed they told my spouse(who took the dog on monday) that the vaccines wouldnt be half priced since there wasnt an exam and that he should go ahead and do them on that day- my spouse was never told this but was pushed to do vaccines that day. This vet, as other have mentioned seems money hungry so it didnt seem too far fetched that they would try to push him to do vaccines on monday as to avoid have a half priced vaccine. Had we known that we had to have an exam scheduled on tuesday to get half priced vaccines, we would have gladly gotten the vaccines on Monday to save a second trip. Moving forward, on monday we paid $50 for the exam, $50 for medication and $50 for the test of his stool sample. Which isnt a big deal, but the technician proceeds to tell my spouse that they "kinda just go based off of what we can see on the sample" So basically we were charged $50 for someone to glance at my dogs feces, which i had already done. Safe to say, we will not be returning to VCA westerville.

We went to this vet for years. The best part about them was they were nearby so extremely convenient. However I felt like every single time we visited there was constant upsell pressure. They would sell you every test in the book if you were willing to pay. The last straw was when we took out elderly dying cat in and their first suggestion was to run $1000 plus dollars in tests. She was obviously in massive congestive heart failure but their bottom line was their first thought. I think good vets get hired then the corporate VCA pressure takes over. There is a reason WOOF keeps making record profits. We declined the test and decided to end our precious cats misery and had her put to sleep. They did give us a last paw impression and sent a sympathy card. But the trust factor was unfortunately now gone forever. We visited several other vets and found that the Cat Doctor was much more trusting and professional. Do yourself a favor and look for a non chain vet. One that looks out for your pet and not their bottom line. Then you wont second guess the health decisions you are making for you pet.

My dog is gets vaccines, checkups and is boarded here. Dr Clementz saw my dog today and she was wonderful with him, she understands his breed and knows his temperament, at the end of the visit she spent the time to talk with me and comfort my dog after his shots. I know he was comfortable with her because he laid flat in front of her, ready to be pet, which is unusual for him. She was great. Colleen is a vet tech and is amazing too. She took the time to get to know my dog long ago and treats him like her own. I have always loved the way she handles my dog, she gives great care! Also while we were there 2 staff members, who were not at all part of our appointment, said hello to my dog by name. Which I thought was sweet. I have talked to a lot of the staff here and they have always treated me kindly, as well as my dog. This will be my 3rd year going to Vca Sunbury Road and I have yet to have any problem. Very thankful for a great place to take my pet!
