The PAs are pretty good and the nurses are great. Thats fortunate because most of your touch will be with the PAs and nurses. Dr. Hicken is okay, but theres not the attention to detail required if you have any kind of relatively complex medical issue to sort out. I had one of those and his answer was to take me off a medication Id been on for 14 years in just 30 days. I had to find a new doctor and that doctor spent the next year getting me off that same medication gradually. At the end, unfortunately, even that was too fast and I had to go back on the medication and try again. In other words, had I followed doctors orders and not switched doctors, I likely wouldnt be here today. Be very careful with this clinic, particularly when it comes to switching or adding new medications.

I was so worried when I lost my primary care provider that I had gone to for more than 10 years. I asked many of my nurse and other medical co-workers who they used and Dr. Hickens office was highly recommended to me. I have seen Dr. Hicken and two of his PAs and loved them all. They seem to have a genuine interest in your health and goals. Their staff is fantastic. They are on top of everything. I cant believe I am saying it but I am happier with Hicken Medical Group than I was with my previous provider and I loved her. I have never felt judged over any medical issues, lets face it sometimes that happens. Completely comfortable with this group. They are very encouraging and have a strong belief in preventative care and that works for me.

I called to schedule a routine exam. I asked if everything would be covered with my insurance. They said preventive routine care was covered. When I went in for my visit, I brought my insurance coverage to show what is covered. The office said everything in my exam was routine and covered. Two weeks later, I received a bill. I called to ask about the charges and they said it was not their problem and to dispute with my insurance. The billing representative was extremely rude.

Dr. Hicken was my PCP for 9+ years until I moved out of town, and is the best PCP I have ever had. He listens to you, conducts his tests, and clearly explains his conclusions and recommended next steps, often with a few options and the Pros and Cons for each. What sets him apart is that in todays world of over prescribing of both medications and tests, he only does what is needed. If I hadnt moved out of town, there is no doubt I would have continued with Dr. Hicken...

I am a new patient and at my first appt. I loved the staff (Dawn) and Dr. Hicken who were thorough. Weeks latter I became really ill and after nights of not being able to sleep I called and the receptionist got me in with Joel right away...who was able to diagnose and get me felling better. Really loving this Dr. and office staff!

Friendly staff, extremely clean clinic, excellent medical care. Dr. Hicken has been my primary care physician since Jan of 08. I have had a couple health issues along with several orthopedic surgeries and always felt that the staff at Hicken Medical Clinic did their best to provide comprehensive as well as cooperative care.

The doctor is so busy he has some one to type what he says... In front of the patient ! Hicken clinic also does not track or partner when patients are admitted to a hospital. Over all score is 1.5/10. There is no on call facility over the weekends. no way to send a message for refills. You get the point...
