I chose Dr. Cooper for my children after meeting him and his staff. I wanted a kid friendly dentist and staff and Spinnaker Pediatric Dentistry far exceeded my expectations. My kids don’t like the idea of going to a dentist, but Dr. Cooper and his staff make it fun and enjoyable. Even their gloves are scented like grapes to be kid friendly. The tokens at the end are a great incentive for my girls. They love to pick out a prize from the prize machine. My girls can pick a movie to watch on the ceiling while getting their teeth cleaned and there are i-pads loaded with games in the waiting room. Heck, I want to be a patient! Too bad I’m too old. However, there are good grownup magazines in the waiting room, so they have something for me too. Put all the extras on top of outstanding service and quality dental work and I couldn’t ask for anything more. Id also like to weigh in on what other reviewers have said about the staff discouraging parents in the exam room. I questioned this a lot because I am a protective mama bear. When they explained that often the children cooperate more when a parent isnt there, I could see the point. My oldest is a bit of a drama queen, but if Im not there as an audience, she is fine. She hates the flouride stuff, but cooperates once there. She whines about it all the way to the dentist office and I know if I was in the room shed keep whining about it. When Im not there, shes too polite to complain to the staff. And, hey, who doesnt hate the icky yellow stuff? Now, my younger daughter is another story. I do insist on going back with her because she doesnt talk. She has an anxiety disorder and it is far less traumatic to have me in the corner. I have never had the staff refuse to let me go back to the exam room with her. The staff has always been friendly and polite and we have used Dr. Cooper for over 6 years.

Very nice dental office. Staff in the reception area and dental assistants that we have had have not been very personable. Did not take x-rays on my son until he was almost 5 years old and then found that he had 3 cavities plus an abscessed tooth that needed to be extracted! For this procedure they recommended him to have conscious sedation as well as nitrous and local anesthetic. Seems like a lot for a little kid and many other pediatric dentists dont recommend doing conscious sedation. When I called the day before his appointment to clarify what exactly they would be doing, they said that I would not be allowed to go back with him even if he was "kicking and screaming." My son has some anxiety and doesnt do well in unfamiliar situations so this seemed ridiculous to me. Also said that they would put him on a pappoose board, which I had originally consented to but then later found out that this is not a typical practice. Absolutely not acceptable. I recognize that many kids do better in this atmosphere when not accompanied by a parent HOWEVER, not all kids should be grouped into the same category and many kids feel much more comfortable with a parent present and will often times be a lot more cooperative during their visit. When I found out that many other pediatric dental offices allow parents to go into the treatment room, do not do conscious sedation, and do not use pappoose boards, I cancelled his appointment and transferred to a different dentist the same day. Its too bad that they dont make kids comfort their top priority. And the customer service leaves much to be desired. No thanks.

I recently took my son to Spinnaker Pediatric Dentistry for his first visit to a dentist. We were both a little nervous going into the appointment. When we first walked into the office it was amazing. They had so many wonderful toys and games for the kids to play with and the office smelled amazing and not like a regular dentist office. When it was time for him to go back for the appointment they instantly treated him like he was the only person in the room, catering to his needs and helping him learn the process. Dr. Cooper was amazing with my son. He related to things my son likes to talk about and made us both feel great. At the end of the appointment Dr. Cooper sat and talked with me about all of my questions and I didnt feel like he was rushing me out and he was just a pleasure to talk with. The tokens at the end of the appointment were really cute too! My son loved getting to pick out his prizes for no cavities!! I would recommend Spinnaker to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist in the area!!!

I searched for days for a good dentist office for my kids and kept coming back to Spinnaker Pediatric’s website. So I read all the reviews and they were all great! Decided to give it a try....took my 6 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter there. This place is so kid friendly its crazy! I have never seen a dentist office like this, even the people who work there, just so nice....Anyway my daughter has had 2 really bad experiences @ other dentist offices and it stresses me out having to take her. This time was great! She was really relaxed and comfortable, the women were great and Dr. Cooper is AWESOME!!! My kids and I love the place, the day I was there I posted pics and a little about the place on my FB because I wanted my friends and family to see this place. I recommend Spinnaker Pediatric Dentistry to ANYBODY with kids or kids that have had a bad experience. Spinnaker Pediatric Dentistry and the people who work there will change your childrens mind about the dentist!

It seemed to be an OK dentist, however the staff comes off as a bit rude and uninterested. Also, dont expect to be able to go back with your child (red flag #1 for me) Even when I specifically asked to go back with my 4 year old, they promptly told me they do not allow this, because they want a child to "develop confidence and independence in receiving dental care" While I can agree with that to some extent, I dont feel like having a parent in the room would hinder a childs confidence. I also found it a bit odd when my daughter told me she didnt think the dentist was very nice. I asked her why she thought that (the dentist actually seemed to have a very bright and cheery personality) she told me that he hurt her teeth and when she told them it hurt they told her it didnt. Whether that statement from her was true or not it was enough for me to want to find a new dentist that would allow me to be present during dental care.

Always a friendly and cheerful atmosphere. All of the staff who treat my kids have been amazing and they always remember my kids from the time before! Weve been coming to Dr. Cooper for a few years now and my kids have grown attached to the staff and Dr. Cooper himself. We actually dont live in Salem but we travel from out of town and the only reason we havent found a dentist in our own town is because they do such an amazing job and my kids have developed a good relationship and I dont want to ruin that (we also have family in town so it kills two birds with one stone). Friendly, helpful, responsible Staff. Dr. Cooper and his staff always try to make children comfortable. Hes pretty funny and my kids actually look forward to going back. Every time weve come in our wait is quick and never running behind, if they are running behind Ive never noticed and the staff never looks stressed.
