I was cheated with my money!! What they didnt know is that I work for a Media company and I will tell about my negative experience. When I arrived I told the dental assistant that I had no insurance and wanted to know from the START the cost for my procedure and that I needed pre-medication she said ok. They quoted me for the procedure and I accepted BUT since I had to get pre-medication and they were closing early on friday, they told me that they had to charge me about $70.00 dollars extra after the fact ...never in the beginning ... they charge me $102.00 for the days visit and the x-rays plus the procedure when I came back... but they never told me that since I had to come back I had to pay the extra money. (The assistant "forgot" to tell the dentist that I needed premedication) and the Dr. was ready to do the procedure. I understand that the x-rays are not free...but I dont understand why they were going to charge me less for treatment on the same day but since I had to come back I had to pay extra. They should tell their patients before they start talking about procedures what the initial fees are and should have taken into consideration the time needed for an extraction on a friday afternoon. If they would have been open till 7pm like in other days the procedure would have been done and I would have paid less than $300 the way they worked my appointment when I told them I needed an extraction and needed pre-medication they should have given me a different day. I understand we all want to go home early on a weekend but they obviously only see $$$ and not the patients need specially when the patient explained from the beginning the circumstances. This dental office is not friendly to people who pay cash ... they dont have empathy for people with no dental insurance. I told a few friends, and they told me this is a new place and to instead got to Oregon Dental. I can see paying $25 dollars for the x-ray and the consultation and Oregon Dental will have my business from now on. At least Oregon Dental can give you an initial cost for a visit and not take advantage of you. So, from now on I will give this bad testimony to EVERYONE who is looking for a dentist "Dont go to Mckensie Dental Center"... I may not know for certain who to recommend BUT I do know "who NOT to recommend"! When I left the office I felt violated, robbed and taken advantage of for not having dental insurance. I had read the reviews and all I can assume is that they are not friendly to non-insurance patients..or could it be that I am Hispanic? Shame on them as health practitioners and their administration policies!

I understand that this is a medical office and therefore money is viewed a bit differently, but if this were a retail environment, I would return my product and demand a refund and take my business elsewhere and never return. Unfortunately, I have now spent $800 am unhappy and saving money up to most likely go elsewhere to have this fixed. I have zero faith in the work that was done. I would like to recommend that the doctors learn to listen to their patients better and treat them better. I have felt ignored and belittled by the doctors. The newest dentist, Dr Johnson I believe, didn’t even look at my tooth when I complained about being in pain for two months, just told me that my bite was off and I needed braces. Turns out I needed a root canal. What if I would have gotten the braces? I would have gone through two years of braces, $6000 and still been in pain. That is just irresponsible. Dr Lee may not have meant what he said to leave the impression that it did, but he came off as condescending and rude. I had very real concerns about my crown and was told that my “tongue would get used to it” the crown was much too large, and then after making a special appointment to have my tooth worked on again he told me let know “know if you have any other suggestions” about my tooth. I had very real concerns and even if he did think they were real, he could have tried to be nice about it. I understand that sometimes when it rains it pours with patients, but I can’t imagine this level of incompetence and thoughtlessness as being anything but just that, incompetence and thoughtlessness.

When I went to this clinic everyone seemed uptight. The dentist was really judgy and mean about how many cavities I had. He also gave me a statement for all the work I needed which included 19 cavities which seemed like way too much for my history. This statement reflected $8000 worth of work before insurance coverage and I decided not to get work done here because I really didnt like the dentist. Also, I tried to get a tooth pulled that was breaking and hurting me and they refused to help me until I could have at least half the payment up front, even with all the pain I was experiencing. This time I went to Willamette dental and they quoted me 1800 before insurance coverage, which includes pulling the breaking tooth and only SEVEN cavities!! Huh thats odd that 12 of my cavities just disappeared..... no its because MCKENZIE DENTAL IS SCAMMING ALL OF YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This clinic only cares about your money. Go to Willamette! They dont judge, they care about you and your teeth, and they were very careful with me and my bf and we both have very sensitive teeth/mouths. Its just really sad because mckenzie is out in the poorest part of Springfield and they are scamming people and Willamette is in a very nice part of Eugene and they actually only care about you getting the best care you can.

Best dental experience ever! Took care of everything needed. Deb, the dental hygienist explained the why and the how of good oral care in clearer terms than Id ever heard before. Dr. Johnson was awesome and explained the options, helping me to make the best decision (in this case not to do the crown at this time). The office staff was friendly and made everything very easy. This team really enjoys helping people and works together well. I couldnt be happier.

You should switch dentists even if youre happy the one you have, because these guys are the best. These people love their jobs, and it shows in their interactions with both patients and each other. The whole process of new patient forms, X-rays, cleaning & exam was efficient, but it was apparent their interest extends beyond checking out your teeth and getting you out the door. Thats not something you can find that just anywhere. Go here.

5 stars means Loved it, not entirely true. I dont like going to the dentist at all, but after 50 years of experience with it, I can say McKenzie Dental is far and above all the others Ive been to. First rate professional treatment, yet very personable and pleasant people who obviously like their jobs and want to do the very best they can. You cant do better than that. Dr. Lee is awesome. He is the best dentist Ive ever had.
