Words cannot begin to express how incredible the care was at Kindred Hospital. Attributes that come to mind are knowledgeable, compassionate, loving, and professional. My husband spent almost a month in this hospital. Because of my background as an RN, I am probably a more critical observer. Before moving my husband to Kindred, my experiences in regard to his care were substandard. Kindred met every expectation and more. Not only did they meet his medical needs but also his comfort and psychological needs. They also cared about us as a family. All disciplines of the unit consulted with us weekly in regard to his care: PT, nutrition, pharmacy, nursing, wound care, infectious control, and the case manager who lead the discussions. It was refreshing to have the doctors explain everything they were doing, and they respected my wishes when I didnt want some tests done. How sympathetic and caring they were! All personnel were superior, and there were a few stand-outs that should be mentioned: Susie - RN/Caregiver and Supervisor - efficient, gave comprehensive care. Had the gift of seeing the whole picture and making sure all aspects of care were addressed. Was sensitive and caring/compassionate with me as well. Rikki - RN/Caregiver - gave exceptional care and was extremely conscientious. Responded quickly to my husbands medical needs, reached out to doctors for resolution of problems and treated my husband as a real person - not just a room number or diagnosis. Victoria - Aide - Responded so quickly whenever there was any kind of a need either for my husband or us. She treated everyone with such love and sensitivity. Jen - RN/ Wound Care - always reached beyond her job description in helping my husband. Her endearing quality was encouraging me with stories of her interaction with him and his sense of humor. Megan - RN - never was assigned to my husbands care but responded to his calling out from his room. I learned of her exceptional loving care and kindheartedness after one such interaction. Throughout the last hours of my husbands life, Megan, without solicitation or hesitation, slipped away with my grandchildren to distract them with crafts while the adults were assured ample time for proper goodbyes. Debi - Patient Advocate - She listened - anywhere and anytime with concern and love. Debi exceeds expectations in her role of hearing what patients and families have to say. She invested the time to get to know each member of our family individually, especially my husband - who he "truly" was. Kindred is so blessed to have her. I would highly recommend Kindred to anyone! Exceptional care and compassionate people!

When I was told that my husband should come to Kindred I couldnt comprehend that a place like this existed. I had this feeling that it had to be the best kept secret in the area because no one heard about it and the few that did had a misconception of its functionings. As my "driver"/best friends husband/ and neighbor- Bill -rolled around the country roads following directions that didnt seem right- all of a sudden this majestic structure appeared in front of us. In my heart I said one of the many prayers- please let this be a right decision made in my husbands behalf. A place where Jim will get a chance to recover. We arrived a little after Jim and as we entered the room I noticed this place was different than all other medical facilities that my husband had been in. Jim, who was very critical. seemed comfortable, aware of his new surroundings, and at peace. I felt hope but afraid to show excitement. Each day given updates as to what was done and what would be done gave me a strong sense of security. I no longer had to worry about being the "watch dog". When I left I could go home knowing that Jim was in safe hands- everyone was doing the best for him. The best part was the kind approach from all the staff members involved in Jims care and the compassion and dedication exhibited from every member of the floor gave a very personable and family-like atmosphere. Everyone is kind , compassionate, caring, loving, and dedicated. Even at the Family Meeting no surprise diagnosis or hidden problems were discussed because there werent any- for once in 5 months I was speechless-no questions- and happy with the progress and plan of recovery. When I think of the past weeks of having my husband at Kindred I think of the name as being the most appropriate name- the base word states it all-"KIND" (ness)- followed by compassion, dedication, and peace of mind. Our journey down this road of "what next" started September 1st and has been days and weeks and months of pain, fear, and unbelievable happenings. I couldnt believe there could be any place that could do anything more than what was being done by area hospitals. How wrong I was! This is the best kept secret in the area- but not for long. Im sorry your secret is out-(I cant keep secrets) I will shout your name from the roof tops thanking everyone who helped to give my husband another chance at living- and most of all to hear the words "Yes, Dear". It still will be a long road to recovery but the strength that KINDRED gave us will gently smooth this rough road. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

My spouse arrived at Kindred on St. Patrick’s Day; he was transferred from AGH in critical condition. In four short weeks Dr. Ashfaq, Dr. Erukhimov, respiratory, nursing, aides, and physical therapy transformed him into an amazing road to recovery. Linda from Pharmacy is so friendly! Kudos to administration, pharmacy and social services. There are so many we want to thank for their dedicated, caring work: Geri from Case Management, Debi the Patient Advocate, the ever efficient and dedicated person – no one can fill her shoes. Much appreciation to Mark from Rehab PT, James and Laura from Respiratory, Carolyn from Speech Therapy, Kirk, Jinette,Yvette, Sabrina from Nursing with Susie (so capable and helpful) at the helm. Mara the aide always smiling, patient and caring. Theresa the aide (our beauty school dropout) did a great job cutting Jim’s hair and always took great care of the patients. You could always count on the entire staff to work as a team, putting the patient first and helping Jim recover emotionally and physically. Kindred is the Gold Standard others need to imitate. No matter how busy, even at lunch, staff placed patients first. Deb Kopol from Environmental Services always smiled and talked to us no matter how busy she was. Susie the nurse, brought me coffee even though she was busy. The staff always answered our questions and even asked me, Jim’s wife if I needed anything too! The conferences were a great tool of trans-communication and the participating staff were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We can’t imagine being treated anywhere else. Your staff exceeded our expectations – we will tell our friends. Kindred Care is exceptional. You certainly deserve five stars for your amazing care. We will miss you and as we leave we are sad also because we feel we are leaving our family behind. You are all dedicated, hard working and wonderful people. Keeping you in our hearts.

My mom is currently at Kindred hospital. When she first went in they didnt think shed make it 48hrs. 3 weeks later shes doing amazing. Shes had health issues that nobody could figure out for almost a year and her own family physician failed her with a misdiagnosis. The care team worked together and figured out her problems. The doctors, nurses and other staff are amazing and my mom couldnt have been sent to a better, clean and caring facility. We are always asked if we need anything and the food as well is good. We have more time with my mom thanks to Kindred Hospital and for that Im grateful. I highly recommend Kindred to everyone, you wont be disappointed❤
